Description of Work: Technician arrived 1.5 hours after 3 hour service window. I did receive a call notifying me of the delay 15 minutes prior to the end of the 3 hour window. Tech asked if he needed to wear a mask while in the house. This is a CDC guideline, so yes. Reported that fan condenser motor and capacitor need replaced. Since not under warranty, because “it wasn’t registered within a year of purchase,” part would cost $500 and labor would be an additional $500. The Manufacturer actually reports that the unit had to be registered within 90 days of purchase and we wouldn’t even have taken possession of our house within that timeframe. So his information was actually inaccurate. Told him we would think about it as they would have to order parts and labor seemed steep since the repair literally required a few bolts and wires. I asked for the part numbers, which he refused to give me and told me I couldn’t purchase them myself. Then he tried to charge me $100 for the service call when this Angie’s list posting offers a diagnostic service call for $39.99. He told me I had to tell the lady when I called to make the appointment, which I did, and he made me pull it up on my phone and tried to act like it was a coupon, which it isn’t. It is a posted price for a specified service. Will that be check or credit card, we’ll, it will definitely be a check because I don’t think I can trust you with my credit card number. This company and tech need to get their acts together. News flash, the internet allows purchase of just about anything these days. I purchased the correct, factory direct carrier parts for $150 and installed them in less than 20 minutes. This company should be ashamed. I will not be using them again and do not recommend them. Would be scam artists, overpriced, and waste your time.

+ -1 moreThe tech, Matt, was even a few minutes early. Very personable and professional. He also seemed to be more thorough than other companies who have done such service for me in the past. It was at a great price. Unfortunately, about five hours later, I noticed the system was no longer cooling. I called the company and Matt directly. Despite the fact that they had a full schedule due to the recent heat, Matt returned within about 90 minutes. He found that he had inadvertently left a capacitor wire unattached and was honest about it. He quickly found the problem, reattached it, and everything was fine. Was it a perfect experience? No. Nothing is perfect and people make mistakes. It was pretty close prior to the unattached wire issue, but Matt's and the company's timely response on such a busy day spoke volumes to me. As it was 4:00 in the afternoon, they could have easily said they had more jobs lined up and would have to return the following day. I know from experience that is the approach some other companies would have taken. But not with Matt and Hilliard-Dublin Heating & Air. To me, their response more than compensated for Matt's error and a little inconvenience for me. With all of this being said, I plan on using them again and highly recommend them.

+ -1 moreThings started poorly when I called to reschedule due to weather not being warm enough for an AC test and found that I wasn’t even scheduled, so if I hadn’t called nobody was coming the date planned. Once the appointment came, what was supposed to be a $39 tuneup turned into a sales pitch for $300 worth of repairs, some of which contradicted each other. For example, things were requested for repair/replace that were listed as functioning properly on their own checklist. Once we decided against their repairs, the whole “it’ll cost you more to do it later” shtick started. Won’t be considering for future heating and cooling needs.

I found a $30 off coupon online, scheduled an appointment for the next day, the tech showed up as scheduled, was very detailed, explained everything he was doing, and now I'm set for Winter! If you live in Hilliard or Dublin and are looking for quick, affordable service with trustworthy techs I'd strongly recommend them!

Technician arrived same day, quickly diagnosed, and resolved issue in less than 30 minutes while explaining along the way. He was very knowledgeable and responded to my questions about using/installing smart thermostats. He looked at an unrelated and non-emergency problem. He went above and beyond to assess and come up with the least expensive solution. I will use again for future service needs.
