Elements One Home Staging is NOT just for staging your home to sell it, but to stage or redecorate a home you are moving into or continuing to live in. By the time I found Lori Murphy we had already done the best we could do on our own to get the old home ready for sale and showings. After looking at only four homes, we unexpectedly found the perfect home for our needs. We had a week and a half to get it ready for sale and viewing. My realtor was a big help in going through our home and giving us ideas to get it ready for sale. Get rid of a lot of decorations and make it look as much as possible like a nice hotel room. Lori Murphy from Elements One Home Staging is at the top of my list as the best part of our recent move. We were moving from a 4-level split home situation into a one floor plan condo with about the same square footage (2400+ square feet). After 24 years in the same home built in the mid 1960's and remodeling parts of it along the way we moved into a 10-year old completely different floor plan. We went from 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, a large pantry, 3 linen closets in a pretty typically build home with separate living room, dining room, basement laundry, three season room/porch and family room. Our new home is 2 or 3 bedrooms with an open floor plan between the kitchen, living room, and dining room. No linen closets, no pantry, 2 full baths, and we were only using two bedrooms in that capacity. I simply couldn't decide where to place my furniture and pictures and what colors to paint the new home. A mistake in paint color could cost me both the money spent on paint and the painter's fees as well as regret and unhappiness. The old home had rooms painted different colors for each bedroom and other room spaces during the course of our 24 years there. I now wanted to start fresh with paint throughout the new home before I moved in. The new home currently was painted a goldish green flat paint with typical wear marks on all walls throughout along with lovely white woodwork and built-ins that didn't need anything but a couple of touchups in an area or two. The current paint in the home was simply depressing and didn't even begin to show off the beauty of the new home. Lori Murphy first came to my current home and saw my decorations and furnishings. Then we were off for a visit to the new home. Lori brought with her a number of full size paint samples (not the typical tiny chips from the paint store). She identified a fantastic combination of 3 colors to be used in the home. One color for all the common areas, one color for the bedrooms and another for a lovely front living room. I felt such relief as I knew that there was not going to be a mistake made with the paint. I felt complete confidence in the paint choice we decided on and could move on to other moving tasks. At my request, she helped me chose a paint sheen and a level of paint to use from a well known brand of paint. When I told my experienced painter what paint I was using, he was extremely happy and he did a wonderful job on all the walls and touch-up on a little woodwork. It of course took two coats on all wall surfaces. Everyone who has seen the results of Lori's work are loving it as are we. The home has simply been transformed. So fresh and modern feeling. She had some very fresh ideas on furniture arrangement and art placement that I would have never thought of and I feel that I am pretty creative in many ways. I have to give her the credit when I get compliments on the decor and furniture placement or I feel guilty. For a relatively small amount of money, she made the whole difference in our moving experience and may have saved us hundreds of dollars in mistakes. Lori Murphy from Elements One is so friendly and down to earth and is wonderful at her chosen profession. She is willing to work on your budget and keeps her costs as reasonable as possible. What a fantastic experience it was working with Lori Murphy during our recent move.
Description of Work: Did a color consultation and chose paint colors for home I was moving into. Took photos of home furnishings in our old home and then drew up detailed plans for furniture placement in new home. After we got unpacked and settled in (approximately two weeks) she came over and recommended placement of home decorations and artwork. Gave me confidence and took a lot of pressure off during a very stressful moving situation.

My husband and I hired Lori Murphy of Element One Home Staging & Redesign to assist us in preparing and staging our four-bedroom, two-and ½ -bath home built in 1991 to sell. We wanted it to have an updated, fresh design that would have universal appeal to buyers. Our goal was to spend some money up front to make a great first impression with the hopes of a quick sale close to our asking price. Lori helped us achieve these goals and exceeded our expectations! Prior to hiring her, we had finished bathroom remodeling and a partial kitchen remodel. First, Lori performed a consultation and proposal during which she walked through the home with me, gave some suggestions for staging and fine-tuning the remodel, and then performed an example staging of our family room. I also asked her to perform a color consultation and she selected paint colors for the various rooms in the home. Prior to her visit, my husband and I attempted to select colors, but were not happy with our test results. She quickly gave recommendations, some of which we had not considered, but all of which were very fresh, appealing, and easy to coordinate. Everyone, from our family and friends, to the professional painters who performed the work, to the realty agents, and the potential buyers admired her color selections! My husband and I even plan to use some of the same colors to re-paint rooms in our new home! We were so pleased with her color recommendations and the written proposal that she presented, that we opted for her First Impressions complete staging package to stage our entire house prior to listing. Lori was very professional throughout the process, had excellent communication and follow-up, was creative, and was just very enjoyable and pleasant to work with. I especially like her flexibility ? she is willing to perform as much or as few of the steps as we wanted, based on our time availability, interest, and budget. She is very conscientious about budgets, which we also appreciated. She worked with many of our existing furniture and décor items and supplemented when needed with new or rented items. For new items, she either shops for the client or provides examples if the client prefers to shop ? we did both. Prior to her staging appointment, she provided an action plan for us to follow to maximize the two days of staging. She worked extremely hard and absolutely transformed our house on a very reasonable budget! For the first time in 12 years, we loved our home! The realty agents we interviewed appreciated the flow and openness of the house and were optimistic about selling the house quickly. We were able to list our house above our goal price, had multiple showings and multiple offers within the first 24 hours, and were in contract the next day at our list price! Lori played a significant role in helping us sell our house much more quickly than we could have anticipated! We had placed an offer on another home and were in contract with the sale of our home as a contingency. This quick sale helped us to remove the contingency before another buyer could place an offer on the home we wanted. We definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking to stage their home prior to a sale, but also highly recommend her for re-design in general ? we wished we would have utilized her services years ago when we would have had time to enjoy her work and would like to hire her again to help with the layout of our new home!
Description of Work: Performed an initial staging consultation and proposal; a color consultation; and full staging of our home prior to listing it for sale.
