It did not go well. I questioned him about not using spacing in between the tiles and he said it was not necessary. He said he was using lines on the cement board instead. The tiles ended up fairly straight but the grout lines are both fat and thin throughout the work. Some of the grout was not wiped off in one spot when the sealer was applied. We are very disappointed with the way it looks and we can't afford to have it redone. My main complaint is there are three tiles that are cracked and he was supposed to come back out and fix them. We have tried numerous times to call him and he will now not return our calls.
Description of Work: They installed porcelain floor tile in 3 bathrooms and a laundry room.

Response from A2Z REMODELING
In response to [Member name removed] complaint I have yet to get a phone call with a complaint if they had a problem with the work they never stated it while we were there, they probably wouldn't have paid if the work was as terrible as they say. Customer purchased the tile even though I allowed them my discount so I am trying to see who is responsible fot hairline cracks in glazing . I feel we bent over backwards for these customers installed a toilet that they purchased only to remove after fifteen minutes because she did not like the color, repaired transitions to hardwood which were incorrectly installed and cut down every door in our work areas I also picked up the tile for them ,apparently you can not please sme people .I only wish the customer had contacted me as I would have made it right .RogerSpangler owner A2Z Remodeling

I did not have a good experience with Roger Spangler, and am providing a detailed account of what transpired so you may draw your own conclusions... My wife and I agreed to have Roger do some remodeling. The work was estimated to be $4300. I gave Roger 1/3 upfront- $1433 dollars- to procure materials and secure his time. Roger's quote did not include a variety of additional work which was also necessary for the project, such as installing a new gas line, miscellaneous painting, and some tile-work (e.g. fireplace surround). I informed Roger that I would be collecting my own estimates in addition to the subcontractors he would bring-in to bid. In the course of collecting estimates I realized that other contractors could do everything the project involved, and do it all for far less (I did not share Roger's price with others). The last of the bids came the day before Roger was to start. After checking references my wife and I decided to go with someone who could handle the entire project. I called Roger and told him that I would like to cancel. But knowing that Roger had incurred costs I also wanted to be fair. So I asked that he provide me any material which were purchased and factor-in time spent and/or other costs incurred, but refund the balance of what I paid. By my estimates, Roger would have purchased $200-$400 worth of building material (my wife and I were not sure about a few aspects so we asked him to buy only enough to get started). Also, Roger had spent 3 hours at most on the phone and onsite with me, and had previously stated that he charged $50/hour for small-jobs. It is expected that someone in Roger's position would be upset, but Roger immediately became angry, hostile and belligerent. I initially tolerated this and reiterated my intention to be fair, but the conversation quickly deteriorated. He threatened to sue us to compel performance (i.e. move forward on the project). At that point I explained that in no way would I allow him to perform any work given his disposition, and insisted that he drop-off my house key, along with any materials purchased and the balance of money which he felt was fair. He again threatened to sue to which I threatened to counter-sue. I even suggested that we cool-off and discuss this later. What comes next was particularly disturbing and is the reason why I am pressing the matter now instead of simply dropping it- Roger became particularly offensive by saying, "you f___ing Indians are all the same". Instead of ending it there he continued to reiterate this prejudice before hanging-up. I anticipated a difficult conversation, and was mentally prepared for Roger to walk away with $1433 of our money. I was not calling to bargain, nor complain about the price. I simply changed my mind before a single nail was hammered. I hoped Roger would be reasonable which is why I asked for a partial refund ($1433 is a lot to simply walk away from without at least asking). I am now contemplating suing Roger to recover some of my outlay because of how I was treated. I've tried to be accurate here in my account of what happened, and would challenge Roger to contradict any of this. I don't exactly come across looking great by cancelling at the 11th hour (literally), but in my defense I was prepared to compensate him accordingly. Also, to be completely fair, I do not have any complaints about Roger Spangler's work- he did a smaller project for me before and met expectations (not exceeded them- took longer than I hoped). I am writing this because of how I was treated. This is who you would be hiring.
Description of Work: Roger was to frame our new fireplace, install trim, do some electrical work, and build new built-in cabinetry.

The customer called to cancel less than 12 hours before I was scheduled to begin .I have a written contract with the customer and will be seeking resolution in court.

He was probably the best I have ever had work done by. He was always 10 minutes early. He quoted me accurately. Everything was done on time as well.
Description of Work: He did a bunch of different odd jobs. He did drywall, hung cabinets and put in counter tops.

Everything went really well
Description of Work: I had Roger come out for an estimate on fixing my ceiling. His price was the best from all the estimates I received. He came right on time and took down all the ceiling tiles. He suggested we replace the ceiling with drywall instead of new tiles b/c of the shape of the ceiling. He was right and it looked great. I can't believe how fast he worked and how nice it turned out. I gave his name and number to co workers who also had a great experience with him.

It was initially difficult to contact him and get an update on scheduling (he was looking for tiles that closely matched my existing ones). However, when he found a good match, he bought them and I later reimbursed him. For the laminate floor, he received half payment in advance to buy the materials. Roger is punctual, reliable and does very good work. He's courteous and pleasant, too. He even hauled away the old carpet at no extra cost to me.
Description of Work: Roger replaced and regrouted marble tiles in kitchen. He installed laminate flooring in one bedroom.

This project was a huge success. We previously had some difficulties with our initial installer mainly with scheduling and communication. We then found Roger and had no problems with scheduling and communication. He arrived on time and had the project done ahead of schedule. We were very happy with the competitive cost and quality of work and will definitely use Roger in the future.
Description of Work: Roger installed engineered hardwood in our kitchen. He removed the existing molding and appliances and installed over top of our existing linoleum flooring. At the time of the initial quote, he took a small sample of the flooring and found threshold that matched exactly. Our flooring manufacturer didn't supply any thresholds, so this was a huge help. He showed us pictures of previous work and assured us that he is insured and actually showed us his insurance policy.
