NAGEL'S PLUMBING & HEATING INC

In front of the tiling contractor we talked on the phone with the plumber. He was specifically told we wanted all the plumbing replaced and copper line put in the place of the pex that was in the wall. He was also told there were not dollar limits on this because we knew it would go over what the insurance would cover and we wanted it fixed correctly. The owner sent an employee who he did not relay anything to apparently. Only junctions and fixtures were replaced, not the actual pipe. There were repeated leaks and we had to call back several times for repairs of what was supposed to be new plumbing. A leak that started after they worked on it caused the walls of my bedroom closet to have to be ripped out. The employee said he couldn't find a leak despite the fact that you could see it running down the pipes and onto the basement floor. During various calls with the owner we were accused of being negligent, (It's in the wall sealed up what could we have done?), we were told we never stated we wanted it all replumbed (we have a witness to one of the discussions), we were given heck for when we called, (we called as soon as we noticed it; I don't hang out in my basement when others are showering to watch the plumbing.) This plumbing started leaking immediately and we called repeatedly. It was not something we knowingly and intentionally let go. At this point it has not yet been a month since the job was done. Wouldn't you expect plumbing to last longer than that? The employee said the leak came because he hadn't bothered to put on Teflon tape or anything to actually seal the pipe sticking out from the wall for the showerhead to the pipe running up the wall. We have since called in a different plumber. This plumber was very upset and showed us code on the plumbing. The work that was done by Nagel's was not to code and some was illegally installed. We called a licensed plumber so we wouldn't have these problems. Now we will be paying a different plumber to rip out again and put in the proper plumbing. It will be more costly this time and more time consuming because the shower wall is now in place and we can not afford to rip out the granite tiles we just had installed. I called Nagel's back after I found out that some of the plumbing was illegally installed. The owner was not available. I left a message and asked that he return my call. That was over a week ago and I have not received a return call yet. I have, however, received a bill.
