have use woodys tree medics 3 times in the past 20 or so years . but
this year I have call them 3 times sent and email with no response are
they out of business. so this review is mixed from the past in which
they did great work and now where they haven't returned a call or email
in over 4 weeks   I am gravely dis-pointed   . because they did great
wok

I contacted Woody Tree Medics to give me an estimate to thin and shape an Ash tree and a flowering crab apple tree. A company representative came by, looked at the trees to be addressed and gave me a quote. A few days later I called and asked Janice to get me on the schedule to complete the work. She told me she would check the schedule and get back to me. I waited a week with no word from Janice. I called back on June 13, 2014 and asked Janice when someone would be out to do the job. She told me they were needing a fill-in job for that afternoon and would be at my place in an hour and a half. About the time she said the crew would be here, she called and left a message on my answering machine telling me a hydraulic line had broken on the bucket truck, they couldn't do the job that day but would be out on Monday to do the work. Stupid, stupid me...I assumed she meant the next Monday (June 16, 2014). But it doesn't matter now, after waiting another week, I called other tree services and found a reliable company who showed me signs of the Emerald Ash Borer in the Ash tree that Woody Tree Medics missed. I had this company remove the tree. Oh, the flowering crab apple tree???? That's OK, I climbed it myself and thinned out the canopy. As of today, July 25, 2014, I haven't heard from Woody Tree Medics.

Within a day of calling and asking for an estimate, Gary was here looking at the trees. I wanted the two maple trees in my yard trimmed, lifted, and the dead wood removed. I also asked him to look at 3 pine trees at my mother's house (3 doors down). He explained what was needed, why my mother's pines looked the way they did (they had been badly trimmed for power lines), and what we could expect after the work was completed and next spring with new growth. I thought the estimate was very reasonable and told him I'd like them to do the work. He said it would be done within 2 weeks. A week later they called to tell me they were coming the next day.
They arrived in mid-morning and were done with the work in a few hours. We had originally wanted to keep the firewood, but when they cut one of the maple trees, we discovered a carpenter ant nest in one of the limbs that was being removed. I didn't want the ants anywhere near my house, so I asked them to remove the wood instead. They hadn't brought a truck to remove that size and type of wood and the pieces were too big for the chipper, so they came back later in the afternoon and picked up all the firewood that they had stacked.
The house looks much better (you can actually see it) and the branches are no longer hanging over the roof. I am no longer worried about a storm blowing through and sending pieces of the trees onto my house or cars. They also did a good job of cleaning up the yard leaving minimal debris.
The young men on the trimming crew did a fine job on one of the hottest days of the year. I will definitely call them if I need trimming work again.

they are often a scruffy looking group and a little and quot;rough around the edges, and quot; however they are wonderful to work with!! they are very invested in making sure that treatments are successful including follow up. they are also great at working with us as far as breaking the work into and quot;stagesand quot; when we have had major triming projects.

Overall, the company is difficult to contact (no returned phone calls after repeated tries), followed by a promise to stop by and then no further contact. This was frustrating and unsatisfying performance from a company I once relied on.
Response from Woody Tree Medics

"I am sorry but feel you may have wrong company we do not go out of the Dayton area and pride ourselves on followups I am sorry tyhat you were treated this way however."

They have adopted a tree out here. They have never charged me but they are trying to save it. They just stop by whenever they are taking care of the trees by the hospital. They are very professional and they have really showed concern for this tree. He has gone above and beyond what I expected; I know they have been back a couple of times this year and they are very into the health of this tree.

Cons: Owner (who is an arborist) said he would be on the job site while all of my trees were pruned. He was not. He was there to start the job then left to go give other estimates and that is the last I saw of him. It was important to me that a licensed arborist be present while my trees were being trimmed. However, I believe that his crew was well trained an would have done the same work with or without a certified arborist being present. Due to the soft ground the bucket truck left ruts in my yard that were not filled by the crew. I had to spend about $30 on topsoil and grass seed to repair my lawn and the neighbors lawn. One of the trees that I had removed was not "flush-cut" as it should have been, so I have a very large tree stump sticking about 2.5 feet above the ground. The operator who did the stump grinding did not shovel dirt back into the hole that he created while grinding the stump. The machine ejected soil from around two of my stumps, into my neighbor's yard (2'x4' areas). Since I had to go out of town when the work was done I didn't have time to do this myself and had to replant the grass on my neighbors property. Pros: Crew was knowledgeable and seemed to take pride in the quality of their work. Which, is why I hired them. The cons that I listed were a little annoying but I have to say that they did nice work and I believe that my trees are healthier for it. In spite of the cons, I would recommend this company to a good friend because of the quality of work.

The crew arrived early in the morning an were our by 3:00 p.m. each day. They were very respectful and they cleaned-up after themselves before they left.
