Van Martin Roofing

The roofer came to the house to look at area in question and correctly diagnosed the problem that another person misdiagnosed. The work was done promptly and the leak was indeed repaired. And they even re-caulked inside my house where the leak was coming through. I liked the professionalism but also found them to be very polite and personable. Gene did the actual work and you could tell he liked to do things right no matter what it took. As I learned, there are a lot of people who can lay shingles but not necessarily a lot of people who truly know how to roof a house right.

I have had an ongoing issue with my roof leaking over my master bedroom. I had the roof replaced in 1997 and it started leaking a few years later where the dormer meets the main roof. I have had it "repaired" twice before for approximately $250-$300 each time by other roofing companies, only to have the leak return. Van Martin Roofing was able to come out within 24 hours of my calling, inspect my roof, and give me a detailed explanation of the problem (the tiles were overlapped incorrectly where the roof met the dormer) and tell me what exactly was needed to fix it. Instead of trying to patch the problem, they fixed it right. They pulled off the entire corner of roofing, replaced it with matching tile laid correctly, and also replaced some flashing and other pieces of the dormer that had been damaged. They had the job completed before I returned from work the following day. I have been inspecting their work for over a year, including going into my attic to look for any small leaks, and it is still as good today as the day they finished the job. Great service. Professional. I would recommend them to anyone.

Very happy working with Van Martin. They did a good job of providing options and advice during the estimate phase. Communication throughout the whole project was very good as well. Workmanship was first rate.

Overall, everything went great. Jason from Van Martin was great to work with and stayed in close communication with me through the entire job. We had hail damage to the roof that was pretty significant from the April 2013 hail storm that came through our area. Took the crew 2 days to rip off the old roof and install the new roof. All work was done to my satisfaction. Windows are great as well and we will be replacing more windows later in 2014. Great work by Van Martin on roof and windows.

Had two gentleman come out to measure and discuss options for flooring for the entire home including hardwood vs laminate. Called once two weeks later and then never heard from them again. Was told I would receive estimates via email did not happen. Very disappointed .

We decided to use another company due to the higher cost of VanMartin. Michael Anders, Project Consultant, did arrive promptly, explained everything that would be done, had samples of roofing to look at, Certificate of Insurance for his workers, Workers Comp. Certificate, a What to Expect sheet to read, was fully prepared with any and all information requested. I was really torn as to which roofer to choose, but due to the difference in price, went with the lower price.

They were prompt and did a wonderful job. They did excellent work and we would use them again in the future.

They were very responsive and kept me informed of all services. I love the new roof but the chimney work was a little rough. It was a little expensive but they did many extra things that make me feel confident that they did a good job.

they put a new roof on boards and all new chimney cover . work done the day they said and looks great pass insurance inspection . call to come back next day to make sure nothing was left on ground they might of miss.. no additional cost . just what they quoted. I always hire bad help to fix anything . but I got a great company this time couldn't of been better thanks for great job I see they do windows also will be calling them next year thanks

The company representatives who provided the estimate explained very well the work to be done and why. The workers did what was expected and did so well. They were skilled at roof leak repair around a chimney and gutter upgrade when promised.

It was very good. It took a while to get things finished up and they had some issues scheduling their gutter guys. Some of it was the weather.

I initially contacted Van Martin from Angie's List. They initially resealed all problem roof shingles. They attempted to replace two shingles that had lifted up. However, I did not have the correct shingles on hand. After they completed the initial work and left a neighbor gave me the correct roof shingles. I recontacted Van Martin and requested a quote on gutter guards and requested them to install the new guards and replace the two damaged shingles with the correct shingles I received from my neighbor. The crew that installed the gutters advised me they did not repair roofing. After cleaning the gutters and installing the gutter guards the crew requested a garden hose to test the guards and gutters. It was at that time I was advised and witnessed the gutters did not flow on one (1) back side of the house. I was advised that the gutters would have to be removed and rebalanced. I contacted Van Martin's office and requested a crew that could repair and rebalance the gutters and install the two damaged shingles. We agreed to the price and the work was completed. Overall, the quality, response and price of the work was excellent.

This was a small job and I had trouble finding someone to commit to doing the work. Van Martin did not turn me away and made sure we were satisfied.

Really happy. They took photos of the roof for us in places where we could not see. They caulked. They built impromptu repairs for the eaves and soffets.Great!

The estimate was done punctually and he was helpful and offered assistance with suggestions to help "sell" the home as we are readying it to put it on the market. Doug called me several times to provide answers to questions that would pop up and to let me know where we were in the "cue" since we were having work completed during a busy time. Van Martin made the insurance roofer disparity seamless and at no time did I feel concerned. The jobs came out beautiful. The quality and extras really give them high marks. I can't say enough about their quality and character . It is evident they value their work and the customer.

They did the work and so far everything seems to be fine. They got the job done. It was a roof leakage problem. We had a leak inside the house. We were very pleased. They were very cooperative. They found where they thought the leak was from and showed that to me. I told them that I had the same problem on the back of the house and to go ahead and touch it up. I am sure they charged me more for doing that. They were very responsive and willing to do what I asked them to. I was really pleased with how cooperative they were. They said it could be a different area up here but, it would be much more expensive and take a lot longer to repair those area. It was obvious to them that there was a problem and they said that if that does not catch it then you will have to do more work. We do not think that you need to do that first. I challenged them. I wanted to challenge them to see if they were really doing a half job to get the money and get out of there. Or, if they really thought that was all of the problem. I said "well you can do that if you really think that is it." They said "no we really think that this will take care of it." I was pleased with that as well. The fact that I was willing to pay for the more expensive job; they did not jump on it. They just wanted to do the smaller job first, thinking that would do the repairs. I was really pleased with their attitude that way. Obviously honest and not just after the bucks. The fact that they apparently solved the problem and did some extra work that they did not have to I would have to give them an "A". There was a little bit of a glitch. They said it would be Tuesday or Wednesday, they would call before they came out and on Wednesday afternoon they just showed up. There was no preliminary call. They really should not be on the roof working if we are not home and I do not know what they would have done if we had not been home. That was the only glitch, and we happened to be home. They arrived and took care of the job in the afternoon. We were pleased with that.

Doug and his company are amazing! I highly recommend them! I know Doug both professionally and personally and I trust him implicitly. They did a great job and were very efficient. They did the entire roof in one day. They also were very professional in helping the solar installation company complete the solar panel install the next day. An important aside is that this is the third new roof I have had put on in less than a year. The first roof was bad because the shingle company made defective shingles. The company did, thankfully, pay for a second roof. The front part of the second roof was ruined by the solar installation company as already discussed. The first two roofs were completed by another roofing company, who I was NOT happy with at all! You may stumble on my forthcoming poor review of that roofing company. The first company did both roofs since this was a warranty item. Both times I was unhappy with the first roofing company. I met Doug at my kids' school track meet and he immediately took interest in my story and came over right after the meet to look at my roof. In talking with Doug, I was immediately impressed by his competence and knowledge. He agreed to help me out and do the third reroof in the front so I didn't have to use the first roofing company. After the reroof by Doug's Van Martin company, Doug called me that night and said he had to show me some serious concerns on the rest of my roof that the first roofing company completed. Doug stopped by on his way home from work and showed me pictures of gross negligence on the part of the first roofing company. He showed me how the first company installed my roof incorrectly in several places and he showed me where the roof was leaking due to improper installation. At this point I am preparing to bring this issue up with the first company. However, I am very thankful that Doug's company took the time to inspect the other parts of my roof.

Van Martin Windows & Roofing, LLC was amazing, they gave me the estimates in a timely fashion, to the point always on time did great work, answered all questions, cleaned up everything, you couldn't even tell they had to tear off a roof and replace it. Everyone was kind and polite and went out of their way to help and make it very easy for us. I will recommend Van Martin to anyone looking for a roofer, siding, windows, gutters, doors, etc. For the 1st time in 3 years all rain stays outside, it has been great and dry. I recently purchased my home with a 6 month old roof on it (sounds good huh?). But upon closer inspection found it lacking in several areas, the main one being ridge venting. I'm savvy enough to do have some basic homebuilding skills and realized I need a professional opinion on my "new" roof. I contacted several roofing companies and Van Martin was the ONLY one to call me back. The others must be too busy with work or thought this was too small a job. Doug (Van Martin co-owner) promptly e-mail me back and we communicated over e-mail until he could come out and inspect my roof. After the inspection there were several items that needed to be addressed due to poor roofing of the last roofers (there was NO up-sell at all for extra services that were supposedly "needed"). Doug was very straight up in his assessment and also provided pictures and several options to move forward. In the end I spent more than I wanted (spending any money is probably more than I wanted to spend honestly), but now know that my roof has been correctly addressed and will last longer than it did before. Even the workers doing the job were great, they explained what they were doing and were careful to cleanup and cleaned all the gutters instead of the work order stating only to do the back. I would highly recommend Van Martin Roofing.

Overall Van Martin was very professional, complete, and responsive in their estimation process as well as in addressing followup questions I had on the proposal. Of the 6 contractors I contacted, and the three I actually received proposals from, they were the most approachable through the process. I contacted Van Martin through Angie's email function. They are a 'priority' company and responded to the initial contact with 2 hours and were available for a walk-through in the timeframe I was looking at. For the walk-through they were on time. Prior to getting in to the details we spent some time on general introductions and getting to know each other and what I was looking for from the job. During the actual walk-through the team spent some time outlining what they say and making sure I understood the issues and elements of the job that would most impact the cost and quality. They also offered suggestions and alternatives based on the architecture of the house. The final proposal was delivered on time and included all the details I had asked for. The team was also quick to respond to a few followup questions on the proposal. The price on the proposal was in line with the other contractors and the services were comparable. Once they were notified that I had opted to go with a different company they were still professional and positive. This was not true for one of the other companies and I greatly appreciate that level of professionalism. Overall this was a great experience. While I ended up choosing a different company - primarily for some warranty related options - I will definitely consider Van Martin for some planned door and window work in the near future based on the experiences on the roofing proposal.
