After signing an estimate with Mr. Byrd, he himself did not do the work agreed upon. Instead he sent an inexperienced crew and did not properly supervise them. The crew’s work schedule was unpredictable, unreliable, and unprofessional. Expecting ands of hurricane rain over a holiday weekend, the crew did no properly tarp our roof and when it began to rain, water pours through one ceiling in our house and damaged another ceiling. We attempted numerous times to contact Mr. Byrd and his son and received no response for days while it rained. At one point another roofing company working on a neighbor’s house approached us to ask if our roofing crew had ever shingled a roof, an stated it appeared our crew were not putting the shingles on right. Five neighbors had their roofs replaced in a day or two, while Mr. Byrd and his son’s company took 3 weeks to complete our roof. Mr. Byrd inspected the damage done to our ceilings and said he would not leave our house until they had fixed any damage done to our house. After 3 weeks I noticed their tools were gone and they never returned. 3 weeks later I received his final bill. I deducted the cost of the repair work our house will need and sent him a check, marked final for roof. Our check was altered and then cashed. We then received a letter from Mr. Byrd stating that he had placed a lien again our property until we pay him in full. We are still in the process of contracting with another company to have our water damaged ceiling repaired and our roof inspected. We have also paid an attorney to write a letter to Mr. Byrd and received no response.
Description of Work: We contracted them to do our roof.

On 8/5/2011, the workers spent 45 minutes and invoiced me for $279. They then informed me that one of the gutter runs had pulled away from the facia board and that this was an additional fee to reattach the gutter. They returned on 8/9/2011 to reattach the gutter. A total of 15 minutes was spent at my house and I was billed $150. When I checked the gutters through my attic dormers, the gutters still contained about a half an inch of dirt and gravel. I then discovered at the next rainfall that the seams were leaking and one of the downspouts was plugged. I called Mark Byrd and emailed him pictures of the work on 8/10/2011. He responded on 8/26/2011 when he received the complaint I filed with the BBB. He arrived on 8/27/2011 to do the job initially offered. He was here for 2 1/2 hours and did complete the job. Mark Byrd has a good reputation but he doesn't always do the work or oversee it, so if you want to use his business, make sure he is doing it.
Description of Work: Service was to "tune-up" the gutter system for $279 as advertised in the Springfield News. This was to include cleaning, sealing, sloping, and attaching gutters using "hidden" hangers.
