STEBBINS PLUMBING & HEATING

We've used Stebbins professionals in the past and they've done a wonderful job. Same goes for their work yesterday replacing my 40-gallon Rheem water heater. It's only about seven years old (with, of course, a six-ear warranty). It started leaking about a week ago. I called Stebbins and scheduled a service appointment/evaluation for 5/5/21--giving them tank size and BTU rating (just in case). The technician arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem: the internal tank was leaking--so the entire water heater had to be replaced. He had the replacement tank onboard his truck and within about an hour had drained and removed the old water heater and installed the new one (Bradford White brand out of Michigan). He cleaned up and carted off the old tank and all the residual debris/packaging. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. He explained everything to me and answered all the questions I posed him. Highly recommend Stebbins for any of your plumbing issues.

These folks are GREAT! We had a leaking farm faucet/yard hydrant in our back yard. We assume it is original to our house--which is 50 years old. A Stebbins' plumber came out a couple weeks ago, but was unable to get the top part off due to corrosion (though he tried heroically). Rather than potentially damaging the water line at the base of the hydrant, he advised I contact the main office to schedule a full-blown "dig out." In the meantime, he left that water line turned off to prevent further leaking. I subsequently called the office and scheduled the dig out for 3/25/20--with an estimate of $1250 (to include the first plumber's visit). Stebbins called the morning of the 24th and asked if they could come out that afternoon--as they have some free time. I agreed. The two pros showed up about 1:30 with a Bobcat/track hoe and carefully dug down over four feet to remove the old hydrant, install the new hydrant, and backfill with new gravel and the old gravel and topsoil they'd dug out. They had it all done within about two hours--with very minimal damage to our lawn around the dig site. They turned the water back on and we were good to go. I was about to write them a check for the amount of the estimate; but they said the $1250 seemed more than the labor/materials/equipment/time involved--and they would bill me later. Today, I got the bill: $944.25. Over $300 off the estimate. A less scrupulous company would have probably charged me the full original estimate and be on their merry way. So, if you're looking for a plumbing company with reasonable prices, great expertise, great service, AND integrity, I wholeheartedly recommend Stebbins Plumbing & Heating!!

He ran the snake and unclogged it. He told me the work was warranted for 90 days. That was very nice to hear. No doubt the best company to hire for that job!!

Lines were the old blue-gray (Blue Max) plastic lines that had been recalled in the mid 90's, but never acted upon by previous owner. The cold water line connection inside the common wall (and onto the floor) completely broke, spewing water like Niagara Falls all over the inside wall cavity and onto the floors of the back to back bathrooms and out into the carpet in the hallway and master bedroom. This happened in an occupied rental in the early evening requiring the main water shut-off to stop the water flow, and just 3 days before my scheduled week-long out of town vacation..... so I had to get it fixed fast!!!! I called Stebbins Plumbing first thing the next morning. They understood the emergency nature of the issue, and made an opening in their afternoon work schedule to send Tim over from a job located 40 minutes away. Tim made it there in time to do a temp repair in mid-afternoon to enable water to be turned back on for the evening. (Renters were jumping for joy, as showers were able to be taken before they went in to work that evening ... as both on night shifts) Then was able to return the next morning at 9:00 AM to replace the brittle gray plastic piping and have the water back on to all sinks, bathtubs and toilets by noon.. The only thing not on Tim's company truck was a wax seal for the toilet, required as that toilet needed to be pulled to get access to the piping behind it. Glad Home Depot was 5 minutes away, as I was able to run get one in time for him to re-seat the toilet before he left.. Hourly price was about 10% higher than other companies that I saw listed, but a friend told me that Stebbin's had always served them well.... this plus the B rating from Angie's, I gave them a call. Due to the emergency schedule (and potential of lost rent for the days tenants were there without water), because of Stebbin's responsiveness and Tim's willingness to quickly get the job done and cleaned up, Tim actually brought the job in a little under the total cost that I was prepared for. Will not hesitate to use them again.

Stebbins installed our residential boiler in 2003. They were great to work with and did a good job. However, our boiler stopped working Friday night. After a cold night in the house we called them at 8am Saturday only to be greeted with a recorded message saying to leave name and phone number. The message did not identify the company. I left the message but did some additional checking and discovered that they have no emergency after hours support. Also it appears that they only have office hours on Monday through Thursday. I decided to call another company, Korrect Plumbing and Heating. They had an emergency number for me to call. Within an hour, the service man was on site and had the boiler running. Very impressive for a Saturday morning. Bottom line, if after hours support is important for you, be aware that Stebbins does not provide this service.

The plumber showed up as scheduled. He dismissed the toilet problem and simply raised the water level in the tank which did not address the problem. Then, he said the roof vent for the kitchen sink was blocked and couldn't be cleared. We needed to have an under counter vent installed. And, he said he didn't have the faucets on his truck for our outside faucet repair. He left after 15 minutes. The following week I received an invoice for $125. I called Stebbins and complained that no service was provided. I expected him to fix the problems when he came to the house. They agreed and canceled the invoice. We scheduled a follow up appointment for the under counter vent and the outside faucets. The plumber showed up as scheduled and performed those 2 repairs. The following Spring, the faucets started leaking. I ended up replacing them my self. It was an easy job that only took about 15 minutes. A few months later, we were having our kitchen remodeled and the plumbing company (different company) asked why we had a vent installed underneath the counter. Since they were replacing all the plumbing in the kitchen, they took a look at the old roof vent pipe and discovered the blockage. They cleaned out the blockage and deinstalled the under counter vent. Bottom line, we didn't need it which is what I suspected all along. In the end, our plumbing experience with Stebbins left a lot to be desired. Because of that, we've moved on to a different plumbing company that we're very happy with (Korrect Plumbing).

Stebbins' plumber Jeff came out promptly the day I set the appointment for. He called ahead to let me know he was on the way.He found out that the kitchen faucet was the problem with the water pressure, not the system. That was a big relief as I was thinking I may have a leak in the UG piping.He recommended contacting the maunufacturer about a possible replacement part, or just go ahead and replace the faucet. (I can do this work myself, but I did like the suggestion about contacting Moen-I never thought about that.)He snaked the kitchen drain with no problem, but found a problem with the bathroom sink drain pipe in the wall behind the vanity. He showed me where there was a pinhole leak in the elbow, so I had him replace that section, then he snaked that drain as well.Everything works great now.I am very satisfied with the service and the work performed. Stebbins' rates are right there with everyone else's.I have before and will again recommend them to family and friends.

STEBBINS DID A GREAT JOB ON EVERYTHING IN MY HOME. EVERYTHING RUNS GOOD, AND THE PRICES WERE REALLY WORTH WHAT WAS DONE IN MY HOME. THE PEOPLE WERE ALSO EXTREMELY FRIENDLY. I WOULD DEFINITELY HIRE THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.
