Description of Work: Kerry Jones is a perfectionist on all of the work he completed in our home. New countertops in the kitchen, flooring in two bathrooms, new cabinets in three bathrooms, painting, electrical work throughout, installation of new lighting, etc. We had new tile completed in one bathroom and it was beautifully installed. I would recommend him to anyone. He is so reasonable. Kerry is also very trustworthy. He had one man working with him. He did the tile work in the bathroom and worked well also. We trusted both of them in our home while we were at work. I very highly recommend him.

+ -1 moreWere satisfied with all aspects of the project. Mr Jones gave us a fair price on the project. Even though it was a little more than one other quote I appreciated all the details he gave me on how the job would be done and the fact that they would remove and put back the toilets so I would not have to get a plumber to do that. They arrived on the day specified and did the first bathroom which consisted of taking up the old flooring and laying the tile. One of his workers came back the next day to do the grout work. Three days later he came out and did the second bathroom and came out the next day to complete the project. They went out of their way to keep the house clean during the project. I would have no problem recommending them to friends to do work for them.

The stairs are now back to near new condition, totally secure and safe. He was a joy to work with! DEFINITELY be using him for my future repairs and minor construction!

+ -1 moreKerry came out at 8:23 am after picking up Pella storm door I purchased earlier at Lowes. Kerry was very efficent in replacing door. He ran into problems with wood frame that the storm door was to be installed on. The frame had been degraded from years of water and mold--rotten in certain areas. Replaced frame with pretreated 2 by 4's, and applied Kiltz paint to them. Then he installed door. Additionally punched in, caulked and sanded nail pops on exterior front door frame. He left around 1:00pm. Kerry was very meticulous in everything he did, and clearly took exceptional pride in his work. Kerry cleaned up completely. I will definitely have Kerry out to do additional work on the inside of the house.
Description of Work: replaced front storm door, fixed nail pops and replaced cord on pull down garage attic door.

+ -1 moreKerry and Brian have done excellent work. They are both very conscientious. Kerry presents himself professionally as both a construction pro and a businessman. He was great at completing follow-up prior to starting work (even with a busy schedule of projects). On arrival, they were quick to put down drop-cloths throughout the walk area from the door to bathroom. They were quick to clean up messes during the project so that they could continue to work in a decent environment without a lot of dust and other debris in the home. They are steadfast in their work-style, moving forward with a decent timeline for completion in mind. Kerry pointed out a few issues that he discovered that needed attention (electrical, structural) in the home while doing the work -- without pushing to state that "he can do the work." I have asked Kerry to come back for an additional project to hang a new door in the bathroom.
Description of Work: Kerry and Brian tore out three walls of plaster/lathe and installed drywall. They pulled up old linoleum and replaced sub-floor. and added new vinyl flooring that we purchased ahead of time. They feathered in the areas that butt up to walls that we did not replace -- and prepared things for another service to come in to do a tub-overlay and shower walls. They could have done this work, as well, but they have been very respectful in our choice to use another service -- while preparing it for the other service to have a better install experience. Brian's skill at mudding the drywall is above excellent. This guy does this like it's an art form. They have installed a brand new ceiling exhaust fan/light combination. We did not have one in this room before. They were able to install it with little cosmetic changes to the exterior of the house. The exhaust vent is on the side of the house, centered above the bathroom window, which works quite well for us. They installed a new circuit to the bathroom to provide electric to a new wall outlet and light switch boxes. Where the old circuit runs through to the next room they connected a new outlet on the hall-side to maintain the circuit without burying a junction in the wall space (very conscientious and appropriate). They added window and door trim and baseboards before finishing the project. Kerry was great at providing details in his estimate, while also explaining our responsibilities ahead of the work being done. Kerry and Brian did a great job of preparing us for our part; we did the finish work -- painting, adding light fixtures and other accessories. Following the completion of the project, Kerry returned to check an outlet that was not functioning properly. He was able to trouble-shoot it quickly; he apologized for the mis-step in installing it the first time around. He was very professional.

+ -1 moreKerry has been such a pleasure to deal with. From my first contact, Kerry was quite responsive and able to work with my limited schedule. Kerry initially came out yesterday evening to provide me with an estimate for bathroom tile work (tub and shower area). Prior to Kerry's arrival, my tub faucet had been giving me problems with not turning off. I was hoping to DIY or find someone who had the availability to install a new faucet/handle, and only expected Kerry to provide me with an estimate for the tiling work. Kerry was very knowledgeable and was able to provide me with a tiling estimate and brief description of the work he would be doing. After discussing my current faucet issue, Kerry thought it would be a relatively quick fix and offered to replace the cartridge for a reasonable price. Unfortunately the age/condition of the cartridge made it impossible to replace, and Kerry had to replace the entire valve (luckily we already had that on hand). Hours later I was left with a working faucet, for which I am not forced to use the main shutoff valves to control! Kerry was patient and professional the entire time, even though it was past normal business hours. I very much appreciated his generosity with his time, and will be sure to use him in the future.

Description of Work: We had water damage in our upstairs bathroom from a storm ravaged roof leaking. Smith & Jones were neat ,efficient, timely and all the other things you want from a contractor but don't always get. They did an excellent job correcting all the issues that went with the ceiling and wall damages in our bathroom. We will definitely use them again . .

He came when he said he would, did what he said he would do, cleaned up afterwards, and charged a very reasonable price. We were thrilled with his work, and would definitely hire his company again for interior remodeling work.
Description of Work: Mr. Jones came to cut in an access hatch to an attic space through the ceiling. He installed trim around the hatch, and insulated on top of it to insure no heat loss.

+ 1 moreThe plummer came in and removed the toilet, them started removing the rest of the tile. Then gutted the wall around the tub, cut out the old plumbing fixtures. Smith and Jones replaced the sheet rock sealed it with a special system, and installed the new tile. We were very pleased with the work.
Description of Work: Smith and Jones worked in conuction with Mclean plumbing , they both did a great job. We were very pleased.

He was able to fix almost everything we needed, and for those beyond his expertise, he was able to recommend who we should seek out (i.e.: garage repair, water softener repair). He was always on time, courteous, friendly, and had an excellent demeanor. He was incredibly skilled in everything from fixing our racking pergola to installing fans in each bedroom where not even a wire existed in the ceilings in the first place! He truly made our new house a home, and it looks gorgeous as a result. They were incredibly fair in their pricing, listed all items, and explained the bill very well. Overall, an A++++ experience! I will definitely recommend them to everyone in the Dayton/Miamisburg area and will use them whenever the opportunity arises.

We recommend them without qualification. They do the work they commit to do; they do it well; and they stand behind their work.
Description of Work: Defective Kohler tub had to be replaced in a bathroom. Smith & Jones had remodeled the bathroom in 2010, and while Kohler replaced the tub, we called on Smith & Jones to cut out the defective tub from the ceramic tile surround with no damage to the existing ceramic tile (which, since the time of our remodeling, had been discontinued). We wanted to avoid having to replace all the tile! They then installed the new tub perfectly.

Description of Work: Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones removed a bathtub and the surrounding tile and drywall. They installed a new bathtub directly to the studs and rerouted the water pipes. They also hauled away the old tub and drywall. When their work was finished all I had to do was paint the walls around the tub and the bathroom looked great.

Plus they are two of the nicest, funniest and best guys you could be lucky enough to work with. They are respectful, talented, professional, and they do clean up after themselves(which I is more than I can say for my children!).
Description of Work: My husband and I have been using Kerry & Gary for years. First on our investment properties and then for any home projects we have. They have done it all for us, from laying ceramic tile floors, repairing ceilings, installing lighting, electrical, plumbing, woodwork, trim, to whole bathrooms. + -1 moreFrom the first day it was apparent that Gary Smith and Kerry Jones were the perfect choice for the job. Both have great senses of humor, and were so much fun to work with. They endured the changes I seemed to come up with daily. They both provided valuable suggestions and guidance when my ideas could use some "tweaking". Even though the initial work was really messy, they did not leave at the end of the day until it was all cleaned up. Every day they swept and vacuumed so the debris and dust was not carried to other parts of the house. The only delay in the job was the wait for the countertop fabricator. And, as it turned out, the problem was not the fabricator, but the supplier. This delay was only a week or so, nothing major. The job did take longer than originally quoted, but, it was due mostly to my aforementioned daily ideas for change. Overall, the experience was great. I learned a lot by watching true professionals at work. One more thing---this is the first time I have ever had workers in my home that I never heard one curse word. Believe me, there were times that the situation called for them, but they were not uttered. Both Gary and Kerry were polite and gracious. I am going to have them back for more work soon.
Description of Work: Removal of walls between kitchen and living room. This involved moving some of the old cabinets and installing some new ones, and the re-location of appliances. The space gained also allowed for the installation of a dishwasher. All of this also required some new wiring and plumbing. A new kitchen floor and countertops were also installed. In the living room, a niche was created for a commuter desk by reducing the size of two closets. It now looks like it has always been there. A built-in entertainment center was added. Trim and baseboards give it all a neat, finished and professional outcome.
