A fourth company did quote as well, but did not have good marks with the local BBB. · Crawl space Company 1 was competitive on their timing and cost, but they are located out of state, and the travel costs reflected an increase of about 40% higher. · Basement Company 1 was still quoting the project while Scholten had completed the work. Note: both of these providers worked with my Professional Structural Engineer simultaneously. · Scholten was awarded the work. · General Handyman 1, the fourth company, was referred by a ?no longer with us? realtor. This company had unresolved complaints over the installation of a house awning with the BBB. Also, this company quoted a price nearly equal to the highest bid (per linear foot) provided by ?Basement Company 1? Scholten was on the mark with regard to communication, quality, delivery and cost. These attributes are defined below. Communication: Joe, Doug, Terri and Rick are attentive listeners and focus upon providing and delivering the needs for our unexpected home repair. Their skills were reflected consistently at a high level regardless of the type of request. Our questions for scope, timing, quality and clarification were all answered with integrity and in a prompt time frame. It was refreshing to hear ?we do not know? until we investigate further. Quality: The scope of work was discussed at length with us and the Professional Structural Engineer which we had previously selected. All facets of the repair were meticulously thought out and included in the scope of work. As the Scholten scope of work was used to create the estimate, there were no surprises. As the work was planned perfectly, the scope of work, the estimate and the delivery became one. This ensured the quality. A key contributor in this area is the craftsmanship of Doug and Joe. Their work was absolutely perfect. Doug and Joe are exemplary professionals. Cost: As mentioned earlier, the investigation, scope of work, estimate and delivery were ?all in the same?. Scholten was extremely competitive. This is compared to the crawl space and basement professionals. Additionally, having a local company provide the repair was very reassuring. Delivery: Scholten clarified the deliverable first and then worked to provide clear deliver timing within a specified window of opportunity. As the timing grew closer, Rick contacted us and worked with us to dial in the exact schedule. Scholten was referred to us by one of their previous customers, who live locally. The work performed by Scholten at their home was top shelf as well.
