Very well. They showed up on time and were courteous. Didn't take them long to complete the pruning and to chip all the removed branches. Very professional job -- clean up was excellent. When completed, the tree good much better and the dead limbs had all been removed.

It was done as promised, thank you for getting it done right.
Description of Work: Arbor Experts have been working to save our home focal point in the foot yard. This Ash tree has been part of the family for 22 years, losing it was never an option. Thanks to A E and the treatment program they started last year I think our tree has turned the corner Treating the tree was step one, but todays thinning and clean up worked magic. I probably have 1500.00 invested in all...but a small price to pay to save an old friend. Thanks team.

Thank you for the kind words. We have been very successful saving ash trees from Emerald Ash Borer. I want to thank Arbor Experts for their tree services. We are very pleased with the work the crew provided. The guys were all great - very personable, listened to our concerns, completed the work we wanted and cleaned the area before they left; without any damage to the house or fence. Per our instructions, the crew used more time dropping the trees vs. cleaning up. They left three very manageable piles, removing all the large trunks and limbs. The heavy equipment used for the job was exactly what we needed. The crew was able to remove 2' to 3' diameter tree trunks from our steep backyard. Their bucket truck had a claw arm extension to load the wood/limbs into the truck. We would recommend Arbor Experts in a heart beat!

I initially contacted Arbor Experts for an estimate for the tree removal, etc. They were prompt in meeting with me, answering any questions, and providing a quote. When I called to schedule having the work done they worked with me on a time that was convenient for me. On the day of service they arrived promptly and completed the job in a professional manner. All debris was cleaned up and hauled away. The stump grinding was done a few days after the tree was cut down and, again, the area was cleaned up. No damage was done to the yard. Everyone (workmen and office staff) I had contact with was friendly and knowledgeable. I would use them again and would recommend them to anyone.

The treatment is not inexpensive and it has to be repeated every two years, so we decided to save only five of our largest Ash trees. When the time comes we will have to cut down the other six Ash trees. With the five trees that we had treated in 2013 and 2015 we have not noticed any worsening of their condition. we will continue to have the EAB treatment injected into the trunks.
Description of Work: We have eleven mature Ash trees that are all susceptible to the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Some do so damage, but all the trees are still healthy enough at this time. We had EAB pesticide injected to prevent further damage and save our trees.

We had an Ash tree that was dead because of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and one of the Bradford pear trees had a very large limb split off after some heavy wet snow came down late during the winter of 2014-2015. There was a risk this would continue to happen with the Bradford pears. Decided to remove all of the trees. Arbor Experts' crew is very professional, well equipped and they do a great job. This is not your "guy with a chainsaw and a beat up pickup truck" kind of tree removal service and you will pay more, but I've always been happy with Arbor Experts' service. My only complaint is they are very busy and it is not unusual for it to take up to six weeks to have them come to your house to actually perform the work.

They came out and applied Cambistat. Cambistat is a soil applied product that is absorbed through the roots. It slows the growth of trees to allow the tree to redirect some of its energy to defense, root production and other uses. The result is a healthier tree. Our tulip poplars were infected with Anthraxnos which got particularly bad during long periods of rain. They were then losing their leaves throughout the spring instead of only in the fall. Our leaves were falling into our neighbor's yard and this was a constant source of irritation for him. The first year that the Cambistat was applied we did not see much of an improvement, but the second year after the application - last year - there was a noticeable improvement. Even during a summer with an incredible amount of rain the leaves stayed on the trees until the fall.

The cost of the original estimate for the job was over $700. When I showed the coupons of his company that were shown on the website of Angie's list and asked him which one to choose, the estimator said the "$300 for four hours" was good enough - he was very honest. The crew actually came twice, once to cut the tree and came again to grind down the stump. They did a very good job.

Someone from the company told me it would be an additional $85 per hour to cut down the tree all together. Once they arrived, they told me it was $85 per person/hour. I called the company and they told me they wouldn't be able to honor the price they originally said, which was $85 per hour total. They ended up doing that job at that price. The crew was very nice about everything. They worked really hard. They did things they didn't have to do. They were cutting up all of the wood.

This customer purchased a 4 man hour "deal" on Angie's List. She had a Norway Maple she wanted to have removed and we agreed to apply her purchase toward removal of the tree and bill her for extra time spent on the job. Although the wording on Angie's List provides a detailed explanation of our charges for work beyond time purchased, this customer did not properly understand these charges. Initially she was upset, but when she saw how efficiently our arborists work and the quality of the job we completed she was very happy with both the tree removal and the final price she was billed for this project. Although there was an initial misunderstanding the job turned out very well. Paul Burns Owner Arbor Experts

They phoned ahead to be there in 20-30 minutes. They were approved to trim a few low hanging limbs over my driveway to prevent damage while backing in their truck. They removed the tree while taking good care to not drop any major pieces on the roof which I judged to be difficult. They cleaned up very well on both the roof and the ground under the tree. In the past I have often used tree trimmers that were working in the neighborhood and soliciting business. I found Arbor Experts to be better than most of these with prices that were better (Angies List coupon for $50 helped). I will be using them again as we still have more ash trees that need to be removed.

The initial arbor expert?s team assigned to remove our trees was very destructive. They brought part of the trees canopy down onto our roof and proceeded to drag it off. They left the gutter guards dangling from the top of our house and left all the tree debris on the top of the roof and in the gutters. They also hit a neighboring tree damaging it and several limbs while cutting down our silver maple tree. After several days of looking at the damage I called to ask if they were finished and if they would be returning. I was told that yes indeed they were finished. My husband climbed onto the roof to fix what was damaged. We requested them to leave the wood on site so my husband could cut, saw, and split the pieces into firewood. We knew this would require quite a bit of effort on our part. What they failed to tell us was that they left pieces of wood that we could not even move or roll. Some of the larger pieces measured over 40? diameter by 8 feet long. We called to inquire about the size of the wood that was left and were informed that according to the bid the wood that would be left was to be ~ 6? diameter and larger and 4? and larger lengths. We felt that the pieces of wood that were left were not reasonable for the homeowner to be able to manage. Not only did they leave the large pieces of wood, they also buried several stumps that they were contracted to stump grind. As you can see from the pictures the stumps were buried under all the pieces of wood. I?m not quite sure why they proceeded to do that realizing that they would be back in the following days to grind out these stumps. We asked if they would come back and cut up the LARGE pieces a little more to make it manageable to move. We were told this would be an additional charge of $70/hour to cut the wood we feel should have already been done. We had to rent an industrial size chain saw and my husband spent TWO full days cutting up the LARGE pieces of wood just to make them movable. We were initially told that this would be a two day job; however it would be 7 more days before they would return to grind out the three stumps. My husband worked diligently to remove the piles of wood they stacked onto the stumps so that they would be able to access them to grind. Had they stacked them elsewhere this work may have been done at a reasonable pace. The communication in the beginning to get the job started was great. I received multiple phone calls leading up to the work. Once the work started the communication stopped. I had no idea what was going on, if the work for the day was finished or if/when they would be returning The company sent one person out to grind the stumps and remove all the extra shavings. Luckily my husband spent 2 days prior removing all the wood from the stumps so he could access them or this would have taken a few extra days of work to complete. This was the only part of the job that was satisfactory. The young guy spent 9 hours at our house that day working very hard to complete the job. And he did an excellent job.

This project created a couple of interesting challenges. We offered this customer a significant discount for her tree removal by leaving the wood at the job site. The conditions of leaving wood was clearly stated in writing in our original proposal. The customer called after we removed the tree because she was "surprised" at how large the logs were. Occasionally customers ask us to leave wood because they want to split it and use it for firewood. We don't question their ability to handle the wood because our customers recognize the size and challenges associated with cutting and splitting firewood. We typically haul away all wood from job sites and only occasionally leave at our customer's request. We have weekly staff meetings to discuss issues and find solutions to ensure we do not repeat mistakes. After this review was posted, I took the photos from this job to share with our crews. It is obvious the screens covering the gutters at this home were dislodged and some branches were left on the roof. Fortunately there was no significant damage to the roof. After our staff meeting, the crew leader in charge of this project later called me at home to personally apologize for not fixing the gutter screens and removing the branches from the roof. He assured me this will never happen again on his watch. We are committed to taking care of any problems with our customers. Unfortunately I was unaware of the problems with the screens on the gutters on this job until I saw it posted on Angie's List. If this customer had called we would have quickly addressed this problem and alleviated any hardships caused by our crew. Paul Burns Owner Arbor Experts

Both trees were quickly and professionally cut down and removed from the property well within the time estimate provided by the crew leader at the beginning of the job. Both stumps were ground down as requested as well as "feeder" roots visible away from the tree trunk which were at ground level. The problem which occurred and for which I downgraded Arbor Experts was because of the total lack of respect and appreciation for the neighbor's yards. It had rained quite heavily the day before and that, in conjunction with a very wet summer overall, had made the lawn very prone to rutting. For absolutely no reason, Arbor Experts chose to drive the heavy stump grinder over my neighbor's lawn, deeply rutting it. There was no reason that they couldn't have driven along the road, up my driveway and over about 10 feet to the stump to be ground. Since there were 2 trees being removed and the largest tree was in the back yard, I observed the action in the back yard. I was horrified, when I got around to the front yard to see the damage done to my neighbor's lawn. I immediately expressed my deepest discontent to the stump grinder operator and told him to remove the equipment from the neighbor's yard but the damage was already done. It was very clear where the property line was because the neighbor's fence provided a clear reference. I thought that I had made myself clear but when the backyard stump had been ground, the operator then breached my other neighbor's property as he was removing the grinder from my property, also without any good reason. By that time the crew chief had left but I spoke to another crew person and told him that I couldn't believe that they had no concept of neighboring property and there was no reason why all the work couldn't have stayed on my property. They were very polite and apologetic but could provide no reason why they had totally disregarded property lines. The crew member called into the office to report the problem and assured me that they would take care of any damage to the neighboring lawns at their cost. My neighbor was not at home, so I wrote her a detailed apology and said that I'd make sure that all damage was fixed. This happened on a Saturday. Monday morning, I received a call from Paul, one of the owners, apologizing for the incursion onto my neighbors properties, but provided no excuse. He said that they would treat this as a learning experience so that this wouldn't happen to any other customer's neighbor's lawns. Paul reiterated that Arbor Experts would fix any damage at their cost, apologized again and ended the call. I thought it over for a couple of days and decided to call Paul back. I said that under the circumstances, Arbor Experts experienced no discomfort over their reckless disregard for my neighbor's properties but I, along with my neighbors certainly did. I had to apologize repeatedly to both neighbors who, while very unhappy, were also very polite to me because they are great neighbors. I called Paul to ask him for a 10% discount so that they, also, would feel some discomfort. Paul agreed to the discount saying that they would then be immune from all further remedial action for my neighbor's lawns. By that time, both lawns had started to bounce back on their own and I was sure that they would continue to do so.

As the owner of Arbor Experts, I expect exceptional quality work from our staff each time we visit a client's property. After this incident of leaving ruts in an lawn adjacent to our client's house, the crew leader from this project reported the incident to me. I made it a priority to contact this client early the next business day to ensure him we would rectify the problem. We make no excuses when we make an error and we took full responsibility for the problems during this project. When I spoke to the client a few days after the incident he indicated no action was needed to correct this problem. I have reprimanded the young man who left ruts in the lawn and am confident this will not be a problem in the future. We have weekly staff and safety meetings and this was a point of emphasis during our meeting immediately following this incident. This client was satisfied with our response and has indicated he will continue to use us for future tree care needs. Respectfully, Paul Burns Owner Arbor Experts

Too soon to tell if the treatment will save the tree. The contractor said it was iffy, and I accept that. Air spading requires digging down about a foot or so in the area around the trunk to remove the encircling roots. The problem I have is with how this work was done. No serious effort was made to restore the surface once the removal was completed. The surface was uneven, with clumps of dirt laying on and even beyond the disturbed area. The contractor didn't take the time or show enough concern to finish the job right by racking and smoothing over area to restore its appearance. Inconsiderate and unprofessional.

Arbor Experts is truly the company to hire if you want a professional experience. Paul and everyone else I corresponded with were great and the job went very well. They were especially patient with us, as we had personal conflicts come up which delayed the project by several months. When they took it on, they completed it in one day. They did an excellent job! This was a difficult job because of the tight location of the trees being removed and the necessity of avoiding any damage to adjoining property and structures, utility lines, gas line, etc. The crew was very careful and safety-conscious, and very professional in attitude and approach. The process was fascinating to watch! It actually took several days to do all of the work, but they cleaned up completely at the end of each day, so we had no issues with that. They had a couple of other jobs scheduled for that week, and kept us informed as to approximately what time they would be arriving to work. They came back the following week to grind down the stumps and haul away the grindings and roots. The fertilizing of the other trees was done separately, by a different employee. We also had freshly sprouted grass all along our street frontage, which we mentioned before they came out, so they brought large mats to lay down to protect the new grass.
Description of Work: Removed one medium-large hackberry, two large honeysuckle shrubs and one ailing apple, removed all wood and ground down the stumps. Also deep fertilized two mature Norway spruce and treated with cambistat.
