Got a mailer to test our water and since we moved in a few months prior we noticed how bad (hard) the water was. Our water softener was cycling (making noise) but it wasn't really using any salt. It was 13-15 years old so we knew we had to replace it anyway. Sent the water sample in and they called us with the results and set up the rain soft sales pitch meeting. The kids liked the water testing stuff but it was a littel cheesy and very drawn out, I wish they would abbreviate their demo. Anyway we knew we wanted it and got the reverse osmosis filter system too (Hightly recommend that). The installers came and were very knowledgeable (the one guy was new but the other had been installing them for years and you could tell). They had to haul off our old softener that was like 150 pounds! Once done, our water was AWESOME! I really didn't think it would make that much of a difference but wow. So soft in the shower and the drinking water is so clean and tasty. Also they ran the drinking water to our refrigerator AND to a new spigot at the sink. This is handy for using the great water for cooking as it's not cold there. Now the set up came with some free liquid soap that seemed like a waste but I can tell you I haven't bought shampoo, laundry soap or dishwasher detergent in a year. That has added up to some savings I didn't expect. We do joke about "Our $5,000 water" and now we would not be able to afford it but I'm glad we did it then so we have this great water for as long as we live here.
Description of Work: Installed water conditioner and reverse osmosis drinking water unit. Also removed our old water softener.

I live in Huber Heights and can tell you first hand the water quality is horrible. We had a water purifier installed in our kitchen. Shortly after the installations, about six months, the quality of the water started to decline. We called for a technician to come and take a look at the system to make sure it was working properly. The person who was taking our phone call was very nasty and made it seem as though we did not know what we were talking about and made it seem like is was going to be a hassel to have someone come out. While we were waiting for the technician to come out, I looked over the system to see if there was anything out of the ordinary. The technician came out and told us the system was not installed properly and routed the plumbing in a different configuration. After completeing his work and charging us $60 for a "maintenance free" system anc changing the filters, the plumbing began to leak. The water covered the bottom of our kitchen cabinets and ruined some of our cleaning supplies. The service call was a standard $60 even though the sales person told us the system was "maintenance free." When we called to let them know it was leaking, they sent out another technician to fix the leak. By the time the technician got to my home, there was a "black slime" coming from the faucet. The technician noticed this, tested the water, and told us the water quality was worse than the city tap water. He then proceeded to clean a purge the whole system to get rid of the "black slime." He also replaced a filter membrane which costed us $125 on our "maintenance free" system. With all of these problems on our "maintenance free" system, we are now having another problem. Now, there is no water coming from our system at all. We called and once again we have to pay another $60 service fee or go buy a bicycle pump and try to pump air into the system to get it to work again. To sum it up, we paid $5,000 dollars on a "maintenance free" system that has been anything but maintenance free and has not delivered any better quality water than our city tap water.
