Orkin Pest Control

The first words that come to mind for the rodent exclusion and insulation services that we allegedly received are grossly negligent and/or fraudulent. Please continue reading for further details. LACK OF COMMUNICATION WAS CONSISTENT At this point, you should know that we have a fairly large unoccupied home. Based on the price tag alone, we assumed that Orkin would do a first-rate job. WRONG! On insulation removal Day 1, an Orkin team of four literally just showed up at our house at around 3 PM with no notice. We honestly had no idea at all when they were coming and were just about to leave. These pop-up visits continued all week. PROPERTY DAMAGE BEGAN IMMEDIATELY At 4 PM on Day 1, we get a call that a tech has fallen through our ceiling and left a large gaping hole. This first impression did not inspire trust or confidence. We were told that the crew would return the next day, and that the hole would be covered up in the interim. It was not. The crew was no-call/no-show the next day. Below is a more concise summary of everything that happened. Orkin DID NOT: • Use plywood or boards to cover attic walking paths so as to avoid falling through the ceiling; •Remove all of the contaminated insulation; •Perform exclusion or sanitizing services prior to blowing in the new insulation; •Take relevant pictures in the empty attic during insulation removal and exclusion services as requested; •Cover up our new built-in furniture or flooring (which left loose insulation material all over our brand new master bedroom built-ins); •Reinstall the windows screens they removed (creating new access points); •Put moved attic access furnishings back into place; or •Email, call or visit for quality control purposes after the "completion" of the job, and prior to sending us a link to write a review. Orkin DID: •Damage our attic and ceilings; •Leave huge black and white bags of contaminated insulation in our driveway for five straight days; •Cover and damage the motor and vents of our whole house fan system with blow-in insulation; and •Delay our move-in date because now we have to redo the work and fix the damage caused by Orkin. (Where should we send the bills?) WE WERE CHARGED FOR WORK THAT WAS NOT PERFORMED Although we do not work in the pest control industry, the following seems to be warranted when performing rodent exclusion and attic insulation services: 1. Set rodent traps in the attic prior to the exclusion service; 2. Secure the home's entry points so that no new rodent families can enter; 3. Do not create new entry points during the service; 4. Lay tarps or plastic to protect the customer's furniture and carpet prior to removing attic insulation; 5. Remove 100% of the contaminated attic insulation; 6. Further secure attic entry points while the attic is EMPTY and while you can see everything; 7. Set more rodent traps in the empty attic; 8. Return later to remove carcasses; 9. Thoroughly sanitize the attic; 10. Install new attic insulation in the newly secured and sanitized attic; ANOTHER COMPANY INSPECTED ORKIN’S WORK AND WE HAVE PICTURES On June 26, we had another company come out to inspect the work that Orkin supposedly completed on June 22, and to provide an estimate for doing the work correctly. The estimate read like Orkin was never there! We have used Orkin for many years at our current home and words simply cannot express how disappointed we are that Orkin did not deliver the services as promised at our new home.

They come every season. They didn't do everything that they were supposed to do and they never called me back. I told them about the fungus gnats. It has happened before. He just was in a hurry, he did what he was supposed to do and he left. I called them back and they never responded. We're taking care of it now. We're probably going to go with another provider. They're all expensive.

We were very pleased with him. We've been using them for many years and I can't begin to say how far back. He seemed to do a very good job. His prices keep going up and we decided that we were going to call him off for now and see how things go. They're always here when they say they're going to be here after I call.

Orkin took care of my previous dwelling and I recently switched service to my new residence. They were able to move up their planned visit because of my pest issue and are dealing with the problem. They did arrive later than expected but within the estimated time frame. The technician was professional and helpful. I will continue to use them. The only negative comment i have is that the transfer of my service from my old residence to my new one was NOT smooth. It took several calls for them to change to my new area, and I was finally told they transferred my service but expected me to make contact with the new location - something that was never told to me before that third call. Then, after the information was transferred, they still didn't have my correct contact information. They should work on these transitions, but their technicians are wonderful.

The company representatives showed up within the promised time window. They were courteous and professional, and answered all our questions. The ants were almost gone after the first visit, and are totally gone after our recent third visit. The only and quot;surpriseand quot; was that on their initial visit, I did not realize that they would spray the baseboards inside the house, so was not prepared for the serviceman to go around our house spraying. As part of the service, and quot;glue trapsand quot;(?) are placed around the house to monitor pest traffic in various areas. This is the first time I have used a pest control service, and I would use Orkin again and recommend them to others.

I have received POOR customer service from Orkin. I e-mailed to get an appointment and received a confirmation letter that they got my info but they never contacted me. When I re-emailed them a few days later and I still was not contacted. I called the 1-800 # and finally talked with someone and made an appointment. They stated they would be at my house between 4 and 6 and would call 30 min before they showed up. They neither called or showed up. When we called the 1-800 number the woman said the scheduling department was closed and to call back.. I am disappointed with the POOR customer service and am now looking for someone new.

I have always been very pleased with what they did. They always delivered and took care of the problem one way or the other. I have a good working relationship with the technician that keeps coming back to take my property.

I have a nice experience with them. The man they sent out is the nicest guy ever. They have satisfactory quality of work and they are always on time except that I went them to come in the afternoon but they came in the morning.

We have a contract with them to come on a regular schedule. They are effective. They seem to be very conscientious. They always call ahead of time when they are coming. The applications are non-evasive. The service agents are always polite. If we need extra work done they will do extra sprays. I really do not have any issues with Orkin Pest Control.

Everything is good and I have no complaints. I will use them again in the future.

I signed up with a contract with them in August. The sales person told me on the phone that the chemicals would never touch my family. When they spray, it's behind the walls and outlets, so there's nothing to worry about. So I signed that contract based upon that information. When they came out, they proceeded to spray on the blinds, the windowsills, and the carpets in my house. I asked them what they were doing. They said whatever they told us on the phone was a lie. The person I spoke with on the phone misrepresented, and lied to me. The people waited until after I signed the contract to tell me they lied to me. The lady that came out to do the spraying was great.

The service is a little pricey. I give them a "B" overall.

We've used them for over a year. They do a great job. They customer service is great.

The work performed was efficient and effective, BUT my problem was with the business end of Orkin. After I called, the technician came, investigated the problem and diagnosed it as carpenter ants. I asked the process for killing the carpenter ants and he told me it would require three treatments. I asked if that would be sufficient and he said yes. Then I signed the paperwork (my error without reading all the fine print and every page of the document). After the three treatments, I was sent another bill for $80. I called and learned I had signed up for a one year contract. I tried to cancel it, but was told I could only cancel when the contract was due for renewal and had to do so in writing. While the work was good, I felt it had not been made clear to me I was signing up for a one year contract. If you choose Orkin just be aware and cautious about signing anything without reading every page.

They came in and gave me an estimate and an inspection initially. They had the best price along with a reasonable payment plan; I also have to pay $200 a year for the warranty to be effective for them to come back. They call me to remind me of the yearly inspection and I will use them again in the future.

Their service is okay but I have thought of looking into another one. They are not terrible but they may not be the best either. They have missed too many things. I have got termites and they treated it, but another service provider who was refinishing a wall for me in the back of the house discovered some wood in the way that they had totally failed to find, and had to come back and treat it. I think that they should have caught it. I think that they are too expensive and I should take the time to find another one but I haven't.

The person I originally spoke to on the phone got me to agree to a maintenance plan that would have been costly, but the gentleman who arrived to actually treat the apartment recommended a one-time treatment and promised to come back within a month if any fleas reappeared. I did not require any further treatments and appreciated being saved the money.

I called early in the morning and they arrived by noon. The bees were swarming and the representative took care of it by himself. The nest was high in a crossboard on the second floor of our house. He was dressed in a professional uniform and was very articulate. He assured me that they would promptly return if I saw any more bees. I did not have to call them to return. I would highly recommend this company.

Orkin was very punctual, she came immediately. Their professionalism was lacking though. I was not happy with what they were suggesting. It seemed as if they were just trying to get business rather than get the job done effectively. She was trying to sell products to us that we did not deem necessary to get the job done. The way they did it was also very manipulative, they tried to scare us so that we would hire them and get the job doen immediately. There were trying to tell us that the ants would eat through our home.

I've had them come back because it didn't get rid of the ants. That was nice.

They came and were as nice as can be. We even went ahead and signed on to a bi-monthly creepy crawly service. I have been very pleased with them. I would recommend them.

Orkin's inspections were cursory at best, and termites returned to areas that Orkin had previously treated. They showed absolutely no interest in being proactive about solving our termite problem, but instead only responded when we noticed new termite activity ourselves. During two of the years that we had the contract, their inspectors failed to show up for scheduled appointments. When they no-showed the second time, I called to cancel the contract and get a refund. The local manager I spoke with was apologetic and reasonable, and they refunded my money.

ORKIN IS A GOOD COMPANY TO HIRE TO EXTERMINATE BUGS. THEY GET THE JOB DONE QUICK AND EASY, AND ITS VERY EASY TO GET A HOLD OF SOMEONE TO COME AND SPRAY AT YOUR HOME. THEY ALSO ARE ON TIME AND VERY PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE.

ORKIN WAS JUST A FINE COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH. I THINK I HAD A VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. WE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM. WHEN THEY WERE DONE, WE HAD NO TERMITES.

THEY COME BACK EVERY OTHER MONTH TO DO PREVENTIVE SPRAYING, BUT I STILL SEE THE OCCASIONAL ANT TO THIS DAY, SO I GUESS YOU COULD SAY THAT I SHOULD DISCONTINUE THEIR SERVICES.
