The inspection discovered other concerns. A follow up visit was scheduled promptly and the work was completed effectively.

Miami Valley Chimney replaced the cap on my chimney. They also removed an TV antenna that was attached to the chimney. Dave, the owner of this family business, provided a very competitive quote for this work. This work took two days. After the first day I called Dave about some concerns I and questions about the work. Dave came to my house early the next day of work. He satisfactorily addressed all of my concerns and answered all of my questions. When his crew arrived a few minutes later he talked with the crew about what needed to be done. Two crews performed the work on my chimney both did excellent work. One crew included his son. Both crews worked very hard to compete the work in a timely manor and with quality. The both did great job of clean-up before leaving. I would recommend Miami Valley Chimney to my neighbors and anyone needing this type of work.

If you actually want to get the work done, don't use these guys. They canceled the first appointment, and on the second try, they were too late to complete the inspection. When I contacted the owner, I expected to be treated fairly and given an apology. He gave me an attitude and cursed at me instead. He asked me, "Do you want us to do the inspection or not!" and when I said no, He called me an ***hole! I'm not sure how this company is still in business if this is how he treats customers. Stay away from this place!

They are the only company that said I needed to remove the old tiles on the inside of my chimney before putting in a new liner. Other companies said they could “gerryrig” it. No way. They spent a day knocking out the tile and a day doing the lining and brick work. They cleaned up the work site each day. They took the time to show me what they were doing. No, I didn’t climb the scaffolding to see the top! But I looked up the chimney to see that the tiles were removed and then again once the lining was in. They did an excellent job and would definitely recommend them. FYI—They were the highest bid— but not too much over the other bids. But you get what you pay for and when dealing with a chimney, I want guaranteed excellence. And I got it. I took a picture of the crown. Wish I had a before and after— couldn’t get one of the lining—just too dark.

Everything started out well. Owner showed up on time and explained why my chimney was leaking. Contract was written and the work was to be done within 2 weeks from 4/17/18. I haven't heard from the company since that time.

Very impressed with the workers. Arrived on time and took care to ensure the work was accomplished safely and efficiently. Kept me informed of the process as they proceeded.

Very well done. Broken bricks at top of 50+ year old chimney removed and replaced with concrete cap. Good bricks that were removed were used to replace broken ones elsewhere. Tuckpointing from roof up. Chimney power washed. Looked very good when finished.

We got a quote from them for rebuilding our chimney. But then we found out it wasn't needed. They came out and he seemed to be very knowledgeable about chimneys. He told us a lot of different options we had for rebuilding our chimney. So in that respect he really seemed like he knew what was going on. I'd give them a "B" overall because of the whole not needing it thing. I thought the price was a little high. He came out very quickly.

It went well. It took about 2 days.

Excellent. The crew showed up when expected, and did an excellent job communicating what they were going to do and why. For example, they had to get a shingle sample for matching, and told me they were going to get the shingles, and when they were going to return, so you didn't think they were just disappearing. The single match was excellent, given that the roof is 14 years old and starting to weather. They feathered in the patch, so it's hardly noticeable. The chinmey was wrapped in a membrane material, and the flashing was folded into a groove they cut in the brick to prevent water from getting behind. The chimney lining is aluminum and a seamless transition to my existing furnace flue. They were extra careful about cleaning up. You can't really tell anyone worked here all day.

I called for an estimate and the owner came out the next day at the time promised. To install the Chimney Liner they needed access to the inside of the home. He was able to set up a specific day (one week later) to complete the job since I work. The workers arrive in work trucks and are not subcontractors. They are professional and polite. The owner comes out to check the job at the end. All in all, a pleasure to do business with. No BS - he's been in the business for a long time and knows his stuff and is honest. I would have preferred if he had gotten on the roof to get up close and personal, but he doesn't try to upsell. I asked about tuck points and the condition of the chimney overall and he said it was fine - a Liner would fix the problem. For a Chimney Liner that vents the furnace and water heater, I received two quotes. $1,100, no tax, for a Stainless Steel Liner with a lifetime warranty or $800 for an Aluminum Chimney Liner with a $10 year warranty.

Work was very good. Notification of when work was to be performed was last minute notification. Did not honor Angie's List coupon for reduction in cost.

We needed our three fireplaces cleaned and I had been wanting some wood burning fireplace inserts, but wasn't sure who to contact so I looked at Angie's list and chose this company. They came in and performed an excellent job cleaning the fireplaces and also recommended we have the chimney lined with a stainless steel flue for the oil furnace since the tiles were starting to deteriorate and was causing moisture on the chimney bottom which is located in our basement. They recommended the Jotul wood burning fireplace inserts and gave an estimate for two of the fireplaces as well as the liner for the flue for the oil furnace. This company is very professional and performed an excellent job with the installation and cleanup. They had scheduled one day to perform the work and brought in the necessary team to make sure everything was installed professionally. They also made sure we understood how to use the stoves, the type of wood that should be used, and directions on how to build the fires. I am so impressed with this company, they will clean our fireplaces from now on and provide all of our chimney work if needed. I highly recommend this company.

Miami Valley Chimney was responsive and answered all of our questions. They assured us that there would not be any leaks from our chimney and stood behind their service with a 7-year guarantee. Only one in the area that would guarantee their work for more than a year! They were prompt, and made repairs quickly before the weather became too cold. Very thorough in their clean-up as you could not tell they had even been there.

We interviewed several companies to perform extensive repair work to our chimney and fireplace. The owner of Miami Valley Chimney came out and met with me and did a thorough examination. He was there exactly when he said he would be. He told me what the problems were and gave me some advice on what he would do if he were in my shoes. He was very honest and I appreciated that. We hired them to do the work. They arrived exactly when they said they would to do the work, took exactly how long they said it would take and even did some extra repairs that they did not charge us for. This is a rare company - run by honest hard working people. The finished product was immaculate and I would highly reccommend them to anyone.

Good cleaning But did not bring the camera to check for cracks like they said they would do. Would have gotten an A rating if they used the camera to check for cracks inside the chimney

They did a great job, they showed up when they were supposed to, and the chimney looks great.

Upon the first visit, the chimney/roof was inspected by the owner. He clearly explained all of the repairs that were needed. He then returned on the second visit to make all repairs. They arrived on time and completed all repairs quickly and efficiently.

They tore down and rebuilt the top of the chimney, put on a precast top, installed a chimney top damper and new cap. Then they repointed and sealed the entire chimney. ( I submitted this review within a week of the service but for some reason you didn't use it.)

I was very impressed by the honesty of this technician! I explained I'd called to have an inspection due to a recent infestation of stink bugs (the exterminator killed over 200 in the chimney & fireplace--& they were crawling through the glass doors into the house!). I also explained that I burn only propane logs now. He stated that that's a clean fuel & I might not need much. When he took a look he said things were "clean as a whistle" & told me that burning the shells of the few remaining dead bugs wouldn't release a smell. He then called his boss who gave me a 20% discount on the sevice call fee since I was an Angie's List member & since they hadn't really had to do anything to my property. I'm very thankful that what I expected was going to be a $200 bill became a $50 one, all thanks to this company's honesty in not doing work I didn't need! Now I have piece of mind & money left to go out to dinner! :)
