McAfee Heating & Air Conditioning

I had to get a part on the air conditioner so I spent about $300. It's called a capacitor. I had to get it replaced. They were prompt and fair. They were okay. I would use them again in the future if nee be.

They have a couple of offices and I used the one in Kettering. They were able to come the day after I called which was good. They were able to fit me into their schedule and their service person was very professional. Their office is also very easy to deal with. They follow up with the schedule. I would use them again in the future.

I used them and I was very pleased. The price wasn't necessarily a good price for the work that was done. It wasn't too bad though. The interaction went well. They have an excellent reputation. I used them before years ago and they were good. They were fair. They have held up to their reputation. Their service is good. Overall, it was a good experience. They were good on punctuality. I would consider using them in the future.

Very well. Right on time, thorough and PROFESSIONAL. They were very mindful of my time and kept me informed during the duct cleaning.

The technician arrived in a timely manor. He looked over everything and found the problem pretty quickly. He seemed very knowledgeable. He had it fixed within about an hour. That aspect of the service call was great. There was an issue with pricing which the manager did take care of.

From start to finish they were efficient, explained everything and kept me informed of the progress. They were here for a full day and were extremely respectful of my house, pets and property. They cleaned up before leaving and ensured all was working during a follow visit to elevate an exhaust plenum. The entire crew were professionals.

Our home A/C quit working on a hot Friday evening. We called McAfee and a technician, Paul, came out the following morning at 9:30am. He called before he arrived. He spotted the problem right away - a burned out capacitor. The part cost $170 and the service call itself was $90. He also discovered that the coolant level was a bit low and we asked him to add that while he was here. ($100) He was friendly, professional and even wore paper booties over his shoes when he entered our home!!

When the tech came in, he was respectful of my house and went to look at the furnace. He knew there was a short and advised me that it would be $199-$299 to fix it, before he even found the short. I had to drag this price out of him, as he was reluctant to tell me, and would not tell me what the varying price was for - as he stated, after being asked, it was not for how long the job took. He was not easy to talk to, and did not seem to want to be doing the job. He willingly provided an estimate, which seemed extremely high for a McAfee brand system. Even after I still had a broken furnace and no AC due to a short I called them in to fix, I still had to pay the service call fee. What was the fee for then, to walk in my door and take apart my furnace - the tech did nothing, he didn't even find the short let alone fix it. Once he saw the age of my furnace, he was only going to try to sell me a new one. Once he had left, I went back into the basement to see that not only was my problem still unfixed, but my furnace was still taken apart - he didn't even have the courtesy to put the panels back on! McAfee may have 8-8pm same great rate, but the same great rate I had to pay was for him to walk in my door. I will never use McAfee again.

We just bought a new house, which was an older house with filthy duck work. The company was willing to squeeze us in, and even came on a Friday night. There were some scheduling issues but overall did a nice job. Clean up after themselves and did not make a huge mess.

As usual, McAfee went above and beyond to provide solutions and suggestions. It's pretty clear after the servicing why my humidifier doesn't do what it's supposed to, and I have three possibilities to correct the problem without a painful sales pitch. I was also made aware of code violations with my existing system, and advised of future repair needs to watch out for. The staff at McAfee is always knowledgeable and friendly, and they are very careful with your home, often wearing paper boots over their shoes and not setting tools down on counters and other surfaces.

When I called for an estimate on Wednesday, I was asked how many rooms I have in my condo. Based solely on that information, I was given a quote of $388.00, and I was told that I could use a coupon that would bring the total to $348.00. When the gentlemen showed up to do the work, they counted fourteen registers and five cold air returns. They informed me that the price was going to skyrocket, and they asked me if I had provided the information to the lady who gave me my initial quote. I informed them that I was asked only how many rooms there are in my condo. They provided me a new total -- $690.00 (the coupon would bring it down to $650.00). The men were very courteous and very professional. I asked if it was a cruel April Fool's joke, and they assured me it wasn't. I just wish I had been given an accurate estimate so that I could make an informed decision about the work. The work needed to be done, and they had me between a rock and a hard place. Sending them on their merry way would have meant a longer wait and potential difficulty in rescheduling. I'm not sure, at this point, if I would recommend this company to a friend. The jury is still out on that one.

Showed up exactly on time, called exactly 15mins before arrival. Very professional overall. Would be better to have the service done cheaper, but overall, I am sastified with the service.

I've been using McAfee for years, and they always do an excellent job. The service people are always knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. In this case they even had to manage our dogs, since we had forgotten to put them out of the way. You might pay a little more, but you won't be sorry you chose these guys. Despite some doubters, we've found duct cleaning to dramatically improve the overall odor in a home, as well as reduce unwanted debris from pets and home improvement projects. We're very pleased with the results. One thing to be careful of with duct cleaning is to not allow the smell of the vacuum truck to get caught in your house....leave windows open to allow fresh air to circulate.

They were cordial and they came on time. They did what I asked them to do. They are under a contract when they come and check twice a year.

I have been using them for 1 year, and they have been excellent.

They are punctual, polite and knowledgeable. They get things fixed if it needs to be fixed. They are clean and don’t dirty my place. The quality of their work is good and I have been satisfied with their service.

Furnace would not start-up. He took off the cover, wiggled some wires and it fired - he then looked over the rest of it and determined it was unsafe due to a crack in the heat exchanger which he pointed out through a magnified camera. He quoted me $4k to replace the system - put some cheesy red tag on it and shut it down - even though it was running fine the whole time we where standing there talking. He left - I turned it back on and have had no issues at all. Felt he was just trying to scam a whole new system and he was very condescending in nature - even though I have quite a bit of HVAC experience. I played dumb to see if he would try and sell me a whole new unit - which of course he did. I had another HVAC company come in and double check the furnace and they confirmed it was safe and this guy was trying to sell a new system that wasn't necessary.

We were having problems with my upstairs being too warm during the summer months. I contacted McAfee and they recommended an attic fan. I agreed to have one installed. They arrived promptly and were very professional both over the phone and during the installation. Afterwards, I was quite surprised that the temp upstairs dropped close to 10 degrees. This was a dramatic difference and we were much more comfortable during the night. I will definitely be recommending McAfee to everyone I know.

Air conditioning would not work. On my own I contacted McAfee instead of working through my home owners insurance. My fault. The first problem that was noted was the breaker box. This was fixed for $425. After contacting my home owners insurance the sent out another heating and air professional with same qualifications. He quoted $108 for the replacement of the box. I would expect to pay a little more because this is a bigger company, however, not 4 times as much. Also, the work that was done was assessed by second contractor as poor quality. McAfee claimed that I said the way it was installed was my fault because they asked me if it was okay to do the job that way. In my defense, I had no idea that what I was talking about and okay'd the work. That was my fault for not knowing the difference, but this is my first house and I have no idea what I'm talking about and they are the professionals. After discussing this with the company no supervisor was sent out to assess if the work done was good or not. I would expect better customer service for a bigger company. The second problem I have is that it was determined I needed a new unit. The technician said there was leak. Yes, there was a leak but that was because the nozzle connections were loose. I was told my coil was bad and that I had no freon. A new system was quoted at over $6,000. It turns out that the reason my air conditioner does not work is because my main breaker box does not work. There is nothing wrong with my current system. There was no response by the company when they were informed about this. The last thing I have a problem with is the fact that the company made an accusation about the second contractor that came out to look at the unit. They claimed, without even knowing who it was, that our home owners insurance was using an unqualified individual. It turns out this individual teachers certifications at Sinclair and that he has over 27 years of experience. I wasn't pleased with the whole experience and will be following up with letters to the company and with one to the Better Business Bureau.

They check my air conditioner every spring before the season. They have always done a great job--arrived on time. Have also done minor service repair work well.

The price would have been double what I paid had I not signed up for their premium service plan. They charged a $90 service charge just to come to our house.

Fixed heat pump, but spent most of the service call trying to jack the price up as high as possible. Charged $169 for a digital thermostat that was worth perhaps $75 (based on internet search) and charged $300 for a capacitor that was worth about $70. Tried to sell us a coil cleaning for $160 that anybody could do with a garden hose. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS!!!!

I called they came out the next day. It took them about 24 hours to do the work. I felt cheated by the time the were finished. The first guy was pretty straight forward but the second guy seemed like he was trying to sell me more of a product than I really needed.

If we change our furnace over the next couple of years (we likely will) and we choose gas, we will likely go with McAfee.

I was very glad that McAfee was able to send someone out the same day, because it was 96 degrees in our house! They said the technician would call 30 minutes before he arrived, and he did just that, and arrived exactly 30 minutes later. He worked quickly and efficiently, answered all of my dumb questions with patience and good humor, and was very helpful in making recommendations for future preventative service. He put covers on his shoes when he came inside the house, too, which impressed me. As for the price, I was a little surprised that something that took him under an hour would cost me $400, but for as miserably hot as the day was, I would've paid just about anything! He had our house back to a comfortable 74 degrees by evening.
