From the beginning, the first contact, Sharon, was always responsive and accessible. One of the painters even gave decorating ideas with the accent color that turned out great. Crew was polite and left the house clean each day.
Description of Work: Recently stopped smoking and needed rooms sealed and painted. Keith and his crew did a great job. They were very knowledgeable on the right products to use

They started the job approximately 2 weeks late due to inclement weather. However, once they started, they were punctual, thorough, and professional. This was not an easy job, but the work they did was very precise & thorough. We found Keith and his wife Sharon very pleasant to work with from the time we first contacted them for a quote, to when the project was completed and their subsequent follow-ups. Mike and his wife Pam, who did the actual work, have got to be two of the hardest working people I know. The job they did and the way they conducted themselves during this work was nothing short of excellent. I would highly recommend KS Painting to anyone looking for quality power washing services. A grade of "A" doesn't seem sufficient for the job they did. I would give them a rating of "A++".
Description of Work: KS Painting was contracted by our HOA to power wash the vinyl siding on (20) of our condos, many of which are 2-story.

They were very professional, showed up on the days at precisely the time they stated they would show up, which was super nice. The whole crew seemed like respectable, decent people (not the kind where you want to lock your daughters in the house until they are gone). They were courteous, cleaned up after themselves, generally a nice bunch of people. Sharon made scheduling very easy and was extremely responsive. The only hiccup was that a few small sections of the old paint should have been scraped off before repainting and as a result began to peel a few days later. After contacting Sharon with our concerns, Keith kindly came out himself and remedied the situation himself and now we are very pleased with the result.

Started great...ended in a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. It's so hard to write this review because my husband and I really liked Keith Shackleford, the owner of KS Painting. But we hired KS Painting based on Angie's List reviews, and while ours may be the type of experience that seldom happens with KS Painting, it seems only fair to share what happened. We first phoned KS Painting from California a few weeks before we'd moved here. Keith's wife, Sharon, told us she didn't think Keith had any big jobs coming up and that he'd be able to complete our interior painting project before our movers arrived at the beginning of August. We met with Keith in early July and discussed the areas we wanted painted. Although we weren't sure about painting all spots, Keith said we could always add areas during the job. My husband and I OK'd the estimate and I mentioned to Sharon that we would be adding areas to the job. The work (which was estimated to take 4-7 days with a crew of 4 painters) was scheduled to begin July 20. The first two days went well. We loved the colors suggested by Sharon and Keith and most of the painters were friendly and pleasant. They were using drop cloths and painters tape and protecting our newly refinished floors. Although Keith was only around for a few minutes the first day, he introduced me to the foreman, Jim, who would manage the job when Keith wasn't able to be there. Those first two days, Jim asked me about trim in specific areas, and I told him the add-ons I had in mind. Days 3-5 only two painters showed. Nobody had heard from Jim, and Keith was absent on the scene. On day 5 Keith stopped in but only to ask for an additional deposit that he needed for payroll. He explained that Jim had a family situation. Completely understandable. The following week, Keith and Sharon were gone for a last-minute vacation. Again, completely understandable. This is when everything--communication, quality, work ethic, professionalism, responsiveness--began its steady decline. We started to notice there was no plan or system to how our house was being painted. Guys would show up and seemingly pick a random area to paint. Nobody kept track or managed what had been painted and what still needed attention. I came upon one of the painters in our master bedroom closet, even though that area wasn't being painted. Day 11 we got a call that the painters were going to be late. Completely understandable. My 6 year-old twins and I hung out in the house all day waiting. Nobody called to say they weren't coming. They just never showed. Day 12 I got several texts and calls saying the painters were delayed but definitely still coming. When nobody came, I would follow-up and be reassured they were still coming. Although the kids were begging to leave the house, I said we couldn't because the painters were coming. Nobody showed. By 5:00 I assumed correctly the painters weren't coming. The next morning (a Saturday) Jim showed up and worked for a couple hours. Never said a word about not showing or calling the day prior. The following week, Jim asked me to go around the house and make a detailed accounting of what needed work and what hadn't been started (a task I thought his responsibility as foreman.) I spent over two hours writing a detailed list of the areas that had no paint, only one coat (we were paying for two), or those that needed attention due to drips, holes, chipping, scrapes, etc. This "walkthrough" would be the first of six; each more frustrating than the last. Areas we were told would be addressed, would get overlooked again and again and again. We would apply painters tape as instructed to those areas that needed attention. The tape would disappear but the problem or concern wouldn't. When I mentioned to Jim that I needed to leave the house for a half hour to register the kids for school, I shared with him my concern about the one painter I'd seen in the master closet where all of our valuables were. I wasn't opposed to this guy painting, but I didn't want him in the house in the half hour I was away. That request was relayed by Jim to Keith as my not wanting new painters in the house at all...something far from the truth, where I desperately wanted the job completed. As the days rolled into weeks, we became disgusted and frustrated. Jim kept reassuring me that Keith would be by to talk, but Keith wouldn't show. Jim would complain that Keith wasn't giving him enough painters to complete the job all the while pressuring him to be finished with it the next day. Individual painters badmouthed one another's ideas and abilities several times a day. For five days we were told that the next day would be the final day. Keith was supposed to bring in extra painters. The crew was going to work late. But each day it was the same deal: 2 or 3 painters would show. There were frequent personal phone calls and smoke breaks outside. Nobody stayed past 3:30 or 4:00. It was obvious the respect and care we witnessed those first days was long gone: Trash, tools, razor blades, and pulled carpet staples remained in the middle of the floors and stairs at the end of the day. Uncovered paint cans sat idle with 1/4 can of paint and brush still inside as if someone had just stepped away for a minute, not the evening. Perhaps the hardest part of all this was that every time I noticed something that needed attention--a clump of carpet that wasn't pulled off the stair face, merely painted over; spatters of paint on our newly refinished floors; or flashing of paint showing through an area that hadn't received a second coat--Jim became increasingly, visibly and/or audibly irritated... not with himself, or crew, but with me. What was supposed to be an 8-day job, ended up a 23-day fiasco (to include many Saturdays and Sundays). Even after Keith had FINALLY seen firsthand the sloppiness and poor quality of the job, he collected his check without addressing all of these concerns as he had "guaranteed." He reassured me that "Hot water, a cloth, and elbow grease" will take the remaining paint off our hardwood floors. We were told we'd be left with plenty of paint for touch-ups. The only thing left was one empty can of trim paint, one semi-full, lid-less can of wall color, and our bathroom sink clogged with gobs of white. Apparently someone was too lazy to clean his brushes outside or in the basement slop sink. Not all of our experience was negative. We love the colors that were suggested and where the walls and trim got the appropriate coverage and attention, it looks great. Dave--whom we've learned is the new foreman--does really nice work. For the areas where we still aren't happy, telling us that everything will look better when we hang drapes, or we won't notice something as much when our furniture is here doesn't fly when we've hired a "professional" painting company. If we'd wanted a ceramic back splash on the wall, we would have put it there to begin with. It's pretty concerning when a "professional" painter suggests tile to cover up his work.
Description of Work: Painted walls and trim of foyer, family room, dining room, second floor office, three bedrooms, upstairs hallways, front and back stairways, several closets. Painted stair faces front and back stairways. Painted ceilings of one bedroom, family room, dining room, kitchen eating area. Painted walls of kitchen and one small bathroom. Painted bookcase and walls in first floor office. Painted front door.

Thank you for your report, and again we apologize your project got out of control, this is not the normal practice of our company. We place the appropriate crews intentionally due to varying degrees of abilities. Keith appointed Jim as the senior painter to help in the decisions you had told him about at your initial meeting , and he could help choose the items that you wanted to get done . Jim wanted to provide different options whether you went back with different colors or needs. I am sorry if this was confusing. We do not tolerate any of our employees being confrontational with our customers and this has been brought to his attention. KS Painting has a standard practice of applying two coats of paint to any surface, and at times the age of an older home will appear not to have this coverage. When this occurs we will add another coat of paint to help cover some of the years of wall sagging or cracking. We appreciate your feedback as we are always striving to better our staff and provide excellent customer service. If there is anything I can help you with, please do not hesitate to call.

Well we were scheduled for a date for which I took the day off work. By 8:20am I started to get nervous so I called and spoke to Sharon. Long story short, they didn't have me down on the books but our email exchanges through Angies List confirmed my appointment. Sharon was VERY apologetic and rescheduled me for the same week with a discount off the cost. On the second date the guys showed up on time and ready to go. The three man team was very professional and courteous. They got straight to work and got the job done in a little over 5 hours. It is a very big room and there was a lot of prep work to be done first. They did an amazing job and I love how it turned out. The crew was very friendly but professional. There was no profanity or vulgarity in their conversations with each other, which I appreciated very much. Lastly, they cleaned up everything and put back the furniture which I also appreciated. All I had to do was vacuum and enjoy my living room. I already have estimates from them for the rest of the house which is good for six months. The kitchen is also vaulted so I will probably be using them again soon. I highly recommend this company for your painting needs.

Great job!! Had to cover deep rep with a pale blue - Job looked great when completed. No mess - room looked great & all was cleaned up very nicely
We are impressed. They did a great job and their pricing was very competitive. They picked up the paint so we did not have to deal with any of that. They were neat and clean and their painting was excellent. They didn't get paint on anything except where it was supposed to go. Each day, you wouldn't have known that they had been there if you hadn't smelled the paint. The workers were professional and personable. They were considerate of family members at home. They kept checking with us to make sure we were happy with their work and liked the paint. We had a few issues with scheduling and a couple of miscommunications, but it got worked out and they were intent on making sure we were happy. We will be using them in the future.

. There was some concern about weather but, they showed up on time and got everything done. They scrapped off the old, loose paint and prepped the areas. They decided to spray the garage door to get a thicker more even coating. They brushed the portico. They both look great. They were finished within the timeframe and, cleaned up after themselves. Both men were tidy and friendly.

Fast professional response. Decided to hold off of the work until the house is finished, and they offered to pass through their paint discount through their vendor.
Description of Work: We bought their painter for a day special. Our house is currently tore up so we are unable to complete the work but they did respond rapidly and professionally. We had them come out to inspect the areas to be painted and feel comfortable using this company once the drywall is finished. We look forward to seeing how this goes and will keep them in mind as the rest of the house develops.

They did not prep the walls, left open nail holes and rough gouges in plaster. Failed to paint closet doors! Had to wait about 2 months to get them back to complete job. Dripped paint on marble sills and carpet. I was made to feel as if it was incoveniencing the painter and when I objected to the mistakes, he blamed me.

It could not have been better!!! When Pro painting Solutions (also listed on Angie's List) walked off the job, KS Painting Services stepped in & saved the day. I was on a tight schedule, with many family & friends coming to town for my husband's memorial service. I had received a quote from them initially, but when with the other company because of time frame. After three days the other crew informed me that they couldn't finish the job (they had barely started). I contacted KS Painting with an email that read "I NEED HELP!!!" They got right back to me the same evening, rescheduled some of their other jobs & showed up the next day. All of the workers were more than polite, they were a pleasure to have around. They arrived early & stayed late, the price was fair and the house looks terrific!!! I told them that I have renamed them "THE HERO PAINTERS". And I wish could give them a higher grade than "A". I have already scheduled to have some more work done by them later this month.... You cannot go wrong with Keith, Sharon & their crew. I am one very satisfied customer who will recommend them to anyone needing painting services.
Description of Work: They saved the day & restored my faith in the human race, is what they did!!! But work-wise, they painted exterior of my two story house in base & trim colors and re-glazed & painted all windows.

He came out to look at the job he was very negative and said he couldn't do the job in 8 hours. So I cut the job in half and he still said he couldn't do it. He said it would be extra for him to paint the doors in my kitchen. He was supposed to follow up with me with an estimate on what it would cost and when he could do the work. I haven't heard from him so I called him but he never called me back.

Hi, I can't apologize enough for the delay causing us to receive the grade you sent. Of course, this is not the experience we want you to have when using K.S. Painting Services. At this point, since we can no longer provide any further services to you, Angie's List issued you a full refund and removed this deal from your account. Situations like this can sometimes occur due to unexpected daytime shortage or a complication with the our team.,but obviously, this is not the outcome we had hoped for. Again, I'm truly sorry for the trouble, and I want you to know we're doing everything we can to make sure this doesn't happen again. Please let me know if I can help with anything else. We have used KS Painting twice before. They always do a great job and make sure we are satisfied. The color on the trim around the front door did not match the previous color that I wanted. They came back to look at it and made sure they matched it perfectly. They also patched some drywall and hung and rehung lights for us even though we had a contractor working on the house. We weren't happy with the direction that the contractor hung the bathroom light. Our contractor said it wasn't a big deal since we were selling the house. KS took down the light and remounted it for us. I can always count on them to make sure we are happy with the job. The price is always very reasonable as well. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
