If we unfortunately miss a phone call during business hours, we make every effort to return the call the same day. It is possible that a message was missed and we were not aware of this until we saw this review.

The whole job from estimate to execution went off without a hitch. I was and am very pleased. Call these guys. They were much less than the next lower estimate by 15%.
Description of Work: Jeff's Dad came out to estimate the job (recessed lights in kitchen, 6 each) at the appointed time. He explained to me what needed to be done to install the lights in terms of running wire, connecting to the appropriate switch, cutting holes in the ceiling, etc. He obviously knows his stuff. The electricians showed up at the agreed time, went about their business efficiently, installing 6 recessed lights, which solved my kitchen lighting problem so now I can see in there at night. They left no mess whatever! I was really happy with the job and the price.

Mark and Garrett arrived on time and got right to work. Finished in just a little over two hours and were immaculate in cleaning up. Worked around many obstacles, as my condo is small and has a lot of stuff in it! They were cheerful and pleasant plus professional.I have used this company once before and liked their work. I feel that I can trust what they tell me and that I will be satisfied.
Description of Work: Installed ceiling fans with lights in two bedrooms that did not previously have overhead fixtures.

Arrived on time. Went straight to work. took time to answer all my questions and offer suggestions for my next electrical steps in converting the room from a hot tub room to a workshop . Cleaned up the residue and carried away what I chose not to keep. Garrett was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They weren't the least expensive estimate but I knew from past first-hand experience I could count on getting the job done right - the first time.
Description of Work: Removed old 220-volt, 50-amp hot tub fuse box. Replaced with new Square D (6-12) circuit breaker box.

Excellent. They worked quickly, efficiently and were very careful not to do more damage to our home than necessary. The work went very quickly. All of the tradesmen who worked in my home were polite, professional, and proficient in their trade.
Description of Work: The electricians arrived within ten minutes of the pre-arranged appointment and went right to work, they did extensive remodeling of our existing system adding a dedicated panel for just our kitchen and extended new circuits to each appliance and service receptacle. They installed lighting and ceiling fans per our request and added a receptacle which was not on the original estimate. Overall, the men and their work were top drawer. I would highly recommend them for futue work and intend to put them on my short list for people to call when I need this kind of help again.

About two weeks before closing on the new house we were buying, I got on Angie's List(AL) and looked at reviews for electricians. We were aware that the house had knob and tube wiring in it and knew it had to be disconnected before we could lay new insulation in the attic. So I decided to send a quick email to Jeff Bonham Electric based on their wonderful reviews on AL. My email was sent out at about 1am (I am a late night person). The very next day, I received a call from Stephanie asking to schedule a date for an estimate. I informed her that we were just looking for an estimate as we probably couldn't afford the work to be done right away. Having never had to get an electrical system replaced, we figured it would be around $10,000 or so to rewire a house. Well, the estimator, Bryan, came out at the scheduled time and walked through the house with me so I could explain exactly what we needed completed. He told me he would get an estimate typed up and sent to me. He also noticed that the shielding on the cable out back was torn open and rain water could get in and drip down into the breaker box in the basement. I told him to include it all in the estimate and thanked him for catching that. This was a Friday, so on Monday, we received the estimate and were quite surprised at the low estimate (approximately $4900). There was one item on the estimate that we didn't need (replacing and installing new ceiling fans and light switches that controlled each one separately), so they removed that item and it brought it down to about $4300. The day of service came and the workers (four of them) showed up on time and began the work. There was a slight confusion on part of the estimate and the lead worker, Brandon, called his boss, Jim, who came out to look at the job and get us clarification. The issue was a simply explanation of what an item actually covered. Once that was cleared up, the guys got to work. Oh, I should also mention that Stephanie originally figured that the amount of work would be done in one day with four guys working all day, but when Jim came out, he clarified that it would take two and we got a second day scheduled. There was no extra charge involved in that. The workers were very professional and considerate of anything we needed or wanted as far as placement of receptacles, etc. They finished installing the new breaker box, electrical service, connecting the Romax to the lights on the second floor, and all the receptacles on the second floor were replaced. Due to the large amount of work on the second floor, the bathroom was not finished, but we used a lamp when needed until the next visit. Day two came and again the workers showed up on time and were ready to go. Three of the four guys were the same ones that showed the previous visit, so the guys were very familiar with the layout and what needed to be done. And they got right to it. Only one issue came up...the bathroom exhaust fan motor was burnt out. They offered to go to the store and buy a new one and install it for us. Obviously, that would be an extra charge. We accepted this offer and they went back to work. Upon finishing, they completed all work as requested including patching up any issues with the plaster walls that arose. They cleaned up after themselves, vacuuming and throwing away all materials as required. The final bill was presented and was even less than the estimate!!! Can't say enough about that!!!! This company knows their business. They were fantastically professional and well educated on how to do their jobs effectively. They managed time well and made sure we were left in a livable house during the week before they returned to complete the job. This length of time between visits was due to our schedule, not theirs. I cannot recommend them enough!!! These guys deserve all the praise that can be given. Well done!!!
Description of Work: Removed and replaced knob and tube wiring. Replaced all electrical receptacles on first and second floor with GFCI receptacles. Added GFCI receptacles to the front porch and back patio. Removed old 100a breaker and added new 200a breaker with house surge system. Replaced burned out exhaust fan motor in bathroom. Rewired all ceiling fans and lighting on second floor with Romax.

Electrician came on time for the appointment. Very friendly and professional. He determined the exact cause of the malfunctions to both seperate items and quickly did the work. Gave me the quote for the repairs. The price was very agreeable for that type of work. Other than the fitting of the cover plate for a space that is not typical, the electrician was done with everything in a very timely manner. Everything works great! I would use Jeff Bonham Electric again.
Description of Work: Surface mounted kitchen light fixture not working properly. And old electrical switch arces when pressed and it also does not work. The electrician changed out the old electrical switch with new cover plate and reset the starter for the fluorescent light fixture above the sink.

I called in the morning. They came out that afternoon. It was a tedious job of checking multiple outlets and switches looking for bad connections and crossed wires. They kept at it until they found the problem and fixed it. We were due to go out of town the next morning so their promptness was a life-saver.
Description of Work: One of our circuits in the home went out and the lights started flickering in another area of the house. Some kind of problem with old wiring gone bad and separate circuits interconnected.

Job 1: Bonham Electric inspected a potential house for me during my home-buying experience and I was pleased with their work and recommendations. Once I settled into a historical home, I discovered a few safety issues and had a few ideas to improve the electrical availability within the house. Bonham Electric promptly responded to my enquiry for an estimate and had a technician meet me at 6 AM to accommodate my work schedule. The estimator itemized all the services I requested so I could pick which ones I would do as my budget allowed. They even offered three different options for installing entryway lights/circuits in my historic brick/plaster home. I ended up having Bonham perform all the services. On the day of the job, the crew arrived promptly and got right to work. Each technician went to work on a different part of the job in the morning. The crew was a little concerned about the amount of work required to install the new entry way lights. It turned out the estimator had made a mistake and didn't account for both locations. The Bonham Electric office contacted me, explained the situation the crew had run into, and reached a favorable resolution. The work was completed the way I had wanted it with a minor increase to the price. The crew put in a full day and was constantly working. I couldn't have been happier with the service provided and feel like I couldn't get a better value for my money. During the work, I asked the foreman to take a look at an issue with the electrical line that ran out to my detached garage. He was happy to take a look and recommended a few solutions to my problem. The job involved trenching so I waited until the ground warmed. Job 2: About two months after the original work, I had Bonham Electric out to fix the electrical line issues with my detached garage. Again, I was impressed with the diligence of the crew. They got right to work and ended up completing the job faster than originally estimating- saving me about $90. Overall, I was impressed with the value and quality of Bonham Electric's work. They will be the first electricians that I call as long as I live in Dayton.
Description of Work: Job 1: Installed second sub-panel, installed whole house surge protection, repaired crimps on service to house, added a outlet/circuit to living room, added a dedicated fridge outlet/circuit, installed a GFCI outlet, put several exposed wires into conduit, installed exterior entryway lights/circuit including channeling through brick/plaster on interior, put basement lights on one circuit, installed conduit on service line Job 2: installed new conduit/circuit to detached garage

The price of the job was very good and the electricians were very polite and professional. Overall, I was pleased with the work, but I did have a few minor complaints. Unfortunately, I was not able to voice these to the company because I was having drywall work done the following day, so there was not time to remedy the problems. 1) They automatically installed bisque-colred outlets instead of asking our preference. I would have preferred white. Not a big deal and relatively inexpensive to switch at a later date. 2) One of the conduits used to install the outlet on the brick wall was not installed flush with the wall (it angled to the wall from a 2x4 at the ceiling. The company doing our remodeling remedied this, but we had to pay them to do so. 3) Plastic conduit was used in conjunction with steel boxes on the brick wall. Would have preferred metal to metal. You can see these are small, nit-picky cosmetic issues. Overall, I was pleased with the work and the workmen were very professional. With a company this size, though, there is not guarantee who the electrician will be that will complete one's work. The gentleman who quoted the job was also very nice. In fact, he sold me on the company when he had the opportunity to recommend a new electrical box and instead recommended that we stay with our existing box. This scored HUGE points with me in terms of honesty.

We needed to have 2 fixtures replaced in our home. We purchased the fixtures ourselves. After checking Angie's list, we called several electricians and decided to use Jeff Bonham. They gave us an estimate over the phone and set up an appointment. The work was done on time, efficiently and professionally. The gentleman performing the work was courteous and careful, and cleaned up after the work was completed. We were very happy with the way the work was done and would definitely call them again. The final cost agreed with the estimate.

This light had not been working for a number of years. I had already checked the basic wiring and found no problems with the individual "hot" wire connections. The electrician confirmed that there was no problem there. After tearing down the inside switch box and checking all the wiring again with the multi-meter, he diagnosed a bad contact with the neutral wire. He cleaned and connected/re-connected all of the wiring in the switch box. He also replaced the bulb socket in the light fixture after showing me how some corrosion was building up on the outer rim and internal contact. Finally have a working light again on my front porch.Very courteous and explained everything he was doing as he went along. Didn't even mind me looking over his shoulder for most of the time.
Description of Work: Problem was an outside light fixture not working. Turned out to be a misconnected/disconnected "neutral" wire. He corrected the connections and checked the remaining wiring in the multi-switch plate. Also replaced the socket inside the light fixture as it was showing some corrosion.

I was given an estimate on the phone and a time someone would be out to the house. The individual was late to the house and didn't call, which was a little irritating since I did take off work to meet him at the house, but he was professional from that point on. The price I was charged exactly matched the estimate. The fixture in my kitchen couldn't be fixed because he didn't have a socket to replace the one that was bad, but he did ID the problem for me. I would use them again.

I had a little bit of trouble getting Bonham to get someone out to my home. Apparently they had a sudden surge in business and were having trouble finding technicians to respond to calls. After some back and forth we were able to schedule a technician to come between 8 and 8:30 a.m. on November 26th. The technician did not show up at the appointed time, and it took several phone calls to determine that he had called out sick and that they would try to get a replacement tech to my home in the afternoon instead. The replacement technician did arrive at the appointed time. He was courteous, worked quickly, and got the problem fixed. While he was at my home I received a call from Bonham asking me to confirm that the tech was there and apologizing for the mix-up earlier in the day.

We call Jeff Bonham for a quote for the work (we contacted three electricians for quotes). They gave us a verbal quote on the phone and followed up with a very detailed written quote. They were the least expensive of the three we contacted and they came highly recommended on Angie's List -- so we scheduled a date for the work. They told us how long it would take and what the name of the electrician would be. Garrett (the electrician) was on time, he finished the work in a little less than the time estimated. Throughout the who process, he asked questions about our preferences (e.g., the blade install on the celiing fan and the height of the chandelier), gave us good suggestions and was very polite and good to work with. He tested all the lights to make sure the bulbs and fixtures worked. He was very clean (used shoe covers in the house) and worked from the inside out to ensure he didn't track any dirt in. At the end, he provided a detailed and complete receipt and the price was exactly the estimate (minus the coupon from Angie's list). Both my husband and I were very pleased with the cost, professionalism, and the work done by Jeff Bonham -- we plan on using them again in the near future when we have some rewiring done in the bathroom and kitchen.
Description of Work: We had Jeff Bonham (the company) install a dining room chandelier, a yard post light, two coach lights by the garage, and a ceiling fan. We purchased the lights, they intalled them and a daylight sensor on the post light.

Everyone arrived when they were supposed to, and the installation went very smoothly. They do everything by the book which means pulling permits and arranging for post-installation inspections. When the inspections didn't happen as quickly as I thought they should, I put in a call to Jeff directly, and he made it happen the next day. This turned out to be a case of the plumbing contractor being so busy they had let the gas inspection slip, which delayed the electrical inspection. I did some research before I went with Bonham electric. I don't think they're the cheapest or most expensive, but I trust them. I'll be using them again for future electrical work.

The afternoon of 6 Nov 12 a call was placed to Jeff Bonham Electric. The lady who answered the phone asked what electrical service(s) we were interested in and a phone number so a scheduler could return the call to schedule an appointment -- probably the next day as it was nearing 5pm. The home number and an office number were provided. The office number has messaging capability as well as the home phone. As of this afternoon, we have yet to hear from Jeff Bonham Electric. It's hard to write a review when no one from the company ever returned the call. If they were not interested in this type of work, then they should've been up-front about it.
