Description of Work: Removal of my existing deck and then construction of a newly redesigned deck using Azek materials. For those of you who don't know what Azek is, it is the decking material and rails that never needs maintenance. J K Girard worked closely with us during the design phase to make sure that we had a design that we were completely satisfied with before beginning the process. Due to the size of the deck we had to apply for a zoning waiver and attend the zoning meeting to get a waiver to the required setback. As far as the dos, if you have to get a waiver make sure that you start the process well in advance of needing the deck, zoning meetings are only once a month and the issue has to be advertised 10 days prior to the meeting. Also, all neighbors within 500 feet of your property will get a notice of the variance request in the mail. Bringing a signed document from your neighbors closest to the project to the zoning meeting will help you get approval. In addition, J K Girard attended the zoning meeting with us. All went well, waiver was issued and J K Girard took care of all the permits.
