+ -1 moreMy elderly mom's garage door broke, and she was extremely upset. Having seen TV ads for Highfield, I called them around 815a and they were able to send someone that afternoon. I assumed it was broken springs. Repair tech Johnny came in, took one look and said, "it's not the springs". He examined everything, determined that it was something relatively simple, replaced/adjusted that, and tightened up all the other connections, etc. Then he looked at the opener and determined that it was not connected to the door quite right. He spent a lot more time making those adjustments, testing/re-testing, and even fixed a lightbulb socket on the opener . Got the door fixed, got the door opening/closing correctly. Johnny was very polite, personable, knowledgeable, throrough. All for under $140! Meanwhile, mom's happy. And when mom's happy, evvvvveryone is happy!!!
Description of Work: Something went wrong with the moving parts hardware on the garage door. I assumed it was a spring. But repair guy Johnny identified the real problem, that cost a lot less than a spring/springs would have. He could have told me that springs were the problem and I wouldn't have known any better. It's great having an honest company and its employees doing work for you.

+ -1 moreGreg took one look at the broken spring, checked the cables and inspected the door. "It's the spring," he said. "That's all?" I asked. "Yep," Greg said. The job took a little more than 30 minutes, start to finish. Greg also provided verbal and written feedback regarding the condition of our "system." (We have older wooden doors and intend to replace them in coming months.) Quick, competent, professional service at a reasonable price - our rating reflects our satisfaction. When we are ready to replace our existing doors, we will definitely be in touch with Highfield.
Description of Work: Went to open one of the garage doors this morning and the tension spring broke. Called a company we've used in the past at 8 am and they could not get to us today. Elected not to schedule with that company and instead called Highfield (with whom we have never dealt) around 9 am. Highfield states on website that if you call before noon - they will schedule for the same day. That is exactly what happened to us. We were told Greg would be there between 12:30 and 4:30. Greg called around 12:30 and said he was on the way. He arrived about 10 minutes later.

He was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He did a very good job, and he also gave me some helpful hints for future. Overall a great experience. I would hire them again.

Our servicemen, Chad and his coworker, came over and discovered that our garage door motor was still functional, but it was the spring that was broken. They went to go get the correct parts and came back to replace in the same day. They also demonstrated how the door needed to be balanced and made sure that everything was working before they left. We would definitely call them again if we need any other help with our garage door!

+ -1 moreRodney Highfield originally came out to provide an estimate for a coating to our garage floor. He informed us that the floor was not in good enough condition to provide the coating. He suggested a contractor to do a garage floor replacement job. I really appreciated Rod's honesty when he told me his product would not repair my garage floor. After replacing the garage floor, I contacted Rod (Highfield Door Sales) for an estimate on a new garage door. We discussed the doors without any pressure to sell. The workers arrived timely. The work they did was wonderful. I would highly recommend this company for any product they sell.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced 16' x 7' overhead garage door. Replaced torsion pad wall mount to block.

Description of Work: One of the cables to the springs for my garage door broke. It is an old wooden, very heavy, door and the large springs are needed to open it. I called to see if I could get it repaired right away because my van was in the garage and I could not get the door open without both springs. They were able to send someone very quickly and he was able to fix it for a very reasonable price.

+ -1 moreJeremy called before he came to make certain I was home. He arrived soon after the appointed time. I was impressed that he took the time to check out the old system first to make certain that the problem was more than just an unattached cable. He phoned his office to have a part delivered while he proceeded to dismantle the old system and install new parts for the replacement system. He worked diligently to complete the job and made certain everything was working properly. This tech seemed to take pride in his work and Highfield Doors came through with a fair and reasonable cost for the job. I would recommend Highfield Doors because based on my experience they made me feel like a valued customer.
Description of Work: First, Jeremy, the technician, verified that my garage door spring was indeed bad by reattaching the cable. It was apparent that the spring was shot. He then figured the cost to replace my old spring system with a new one. I agreed to the cost and he began working on the replacement.

+ -1 moreIt only took the man that came out about 40 minutes altogether to rewire and fasten the new door opener for me. He also installed sensors for me. He adjusted the spring tension due to the weight of the garage door. I am very satisfied and happy with the work.

+ -1 moreWhen I bought my new home, my opener remote didn't work and I was looking for a generic remote. Highfield was recommended. Mr. Highfield looked at my remote, took it apart to check it, and then gave me advice to troubleshoot. In the end I couldn't get it to work, and since the opener itself was ancient, decided to get a new one which was installed yesterday. Installation and product are great! Difficult to get excited about a garage door opener, but this one has great features such as a timer (in case you pull away and forget to close the door) and a motion detector light for the garage. It's very smooth and quiet. Installer was prompt, polite, and fast. I could have gone with a cheaper model but the features on this opener are worth the extra money. I also ordered new front doors from Highfield and will write a review when I get those, but I'm impressed so far and would recommend them to everyone!

Their installers, Mark and Bob, arrived on time and did a professional installation. Good attention to detail and clean up. The door fits perfectly and tight also works with little effort--great balance! Please note: The work was actually performed at 430 Wayne Ave. Location of the Community theater where I volunteer.

+ 0 moreI stopped in Highfield Door's showroom to see what insulated garage doors they had to offer. The woman working there gave me written materials on a variety of their doors and set up an appointment to have the owner come out to answer my questions, measure, and give me a written estimate. Rodney Highfield arrived on schedule at my home. He thoroughly explained the various garage and storm doors and how they would work for me. He told me that both items I chose were on back order for about 6 weeks which was not a concern as long as the garage door would be in by December. The person that installed the garage door called prior to coming out and installing the garage door. He had the door installed in a 2-3 hours. He cleaned up before leaving which was a pleasant surprise. The man that installed the the storm doors followed the same protocol that the garage door installer did. Everyone I dealt with was professional and courteous to me. The doors were installed prior to winter weather arriving. I am very pleased with their service and thrilled with my insulated garage door and storm doors.

Description of Work: We had a new garage door installed by Highfield Doors this week. The installer was very professional and polite. They had the wrong tracks for our door and had to go back to shop. My door was installed. I went to pay the installer and he did not want to accept payment. He explained that they had to use part of the tracks from our old garage door. We could wait for new parts to come in or keep our old tracks and have that money removed from the bill. I said I would have to speak with my husband and get back with them. The next morning I called to let them know we would just keep the old tracks. I ask what the final bill was and told the secretary I would get it in the mail. She said No you need to bring the check to us. I asked where they were located and found out they were about a twenty min drive away. I replied that I was not sure when I would have time to take it. The secretary said just get it in by Fri the 18th and it would be fine. On Thursday the 17th I was going to be right up the street from them and planned to deliver their check then. Before I ever left the house at 9 a.m. my husband calls and lets me know the owner of Highfield Doors called wanting to know where the check was. This is two days after the door was installed. I find this to be totally unprofessional. I have never in my life heard of a company telling a customer they had to drive the check to them and then harassing them before the date they ask for payment. My husband ran the check to them himself since they were obviously desperate for our thousand dollars. The only professionalism I saw from the company was the employee that installed our door. I am very happy with our door but will never use or recommend this company to anyone I know.

They were fast and efficient - answered questions during installation. The whole job from removal to installation, operation test and clean-up completed in a bit more than three hours. team (two guys) did neat, clean and professional work in spite of the cool damp weather.
Description of Work: Old garage door, track and operner replaced with high quality (C.H.I. model 4216) long panel urethane insulated door (R15), 26/27 Gauge galvanized steel, with neoprene rollers. Installed Chamberlain Liftmaster model 3850: DC Motor, belt drive with battery backup, keyless entry and smart control panel (time, temp, auto-light & open) and two remote openers. The Smart control panel is very sweet! Automatically turns on opener lights when interior garage door opens and shows temperature in the garage. Opted for better quality door material and quality contsruction and quiet door opener. Very competetive with other local companies in the same quality range. Door warranted against splitting cracking or rusting while I own my home. Other hardware warranted for six years and springs for three. Opener warranted for 5 years to orignialpurchaser - lifetime on belt and motor.

+ -1 moreFrom past experience I knew that the garage door spring can be deadly. However, when I found two large screws lying on the ground under the garage door a week ago I had no idea where they had come from. Late on Friday night I found out exactly where they had come from when the garage door wouldn't close...they were the screws holding the spring mounting bracket onto the wall. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I didn't find out where they had come from until I had beaten the garage door to the ground....then it became obvious where they had fallen from. So, early on Saturday morning I began a search for someone to come out that day and make the repairs because I knew I wouldn't be able to open the door until the repairs were completed. I called "Highland" because they were fairly close to my home and they offered emergency service. The phone was answered by their secretary, Christine, who listened to my description of the problem and the fact that my car was stuck in the garage and she said she would find out if someone could get out that day to make the repair and took my phone number just in case I was disconnected while I was on hold. Thirty seconds later she returned to the line and said that a repair tech would be available at appx. 12 o'clock and that he would call thirty minutes prior to his arrival. The tech, PJ, did indeed call shortly after noon and was at my home a little later. He diagnosed and repaired the problem, made sure everything was in working order. He even reattached my flag pole to the front of the house where it had become disloged.
Description of Work: Reattached the mounting bracket holding the garage door spring onto the garage wall.
