Great work. They finished half our basement for about $24/sqft ($30 is typical), though we had no plumbing which kept the cost low. They were flexible and responsive, and promptly responded whenever we had requests or asked for updates. We have 3 cats and they were careful to make sure the cats did not get out or get into trouble in the workspace. We had absolutely no regrets going with this small business.

I called to schedule a consultation/estimate for a small basement remodel - approx. 600 sq ft. Mr. taulbee showed up on time, took measurements, etc as expected. Didn't have a business card though - said he ran out. After explaining and discussing my wants, he said that he'd have a drawn up estimate and emailed within approx 3 days. Over a month has passed since then with no phone call, no email and no estimate.

Excellent! One stop shop. Joe and his team completed the project on time and met all city housing codes. Joe is professional and knowledgeable. He is trustworthy and keeps his word. I have recommended him to 2 friends and plan to use him for another project.

We decided to go with another company which handled all the materials and labor versus us providing the materials and they providing the labor

They were really good. They were easy to work with and accommodating to changing requests. The only negative thing was it took a little longer than anticipated. We were happy with the price. I would use them again.

I've had them repeatedly come out to do work for me. If I ask them to do something and I don't like it I can call them and have them come back. They're really good with painting and that sort of thing. They've done a lot of stuff for me. They tried to do some plumbing, but they didn't have the right tool. They were honest about it and said that they weren't able to get the piece out of the plumbing that they needed to do it. They charge $20 an hour more or less for what they do. Sometimes there is more than one guy working, so it's not just $20 an hour because the other guy needs to get paid too.

This is actually our first review as we don't typically do them unless we have felt that we know enough about the company to actually give a truthful rating. Having said that, we cannot imagine having a better experience than what we had with Joe and his crew. Joe is the owner and has a small crew that works with him on jobs such as framing and painting, installing tile, etc. The sub contractors that were used for plumbing, carpet, drywall, electric, installing drop ceiling, and installing counter top (wet bar) were all very professional.
Joe is very low key, and has extremely helpful suggestions. He is by far the nicest contractor we have ever worked with. Once he came out to hear what we wanted done to our basement, he was very timely with a proposal, and we were impressed with his offer. The entire basement took a little longer to complete, mainly because of working around the holidays. Well, that and also because we added things to the original proposal. Joe was awesome in going with the flow and doing everything exactly as we wanted.
Joe is a very honest contractor. He did a great job telling us when he would be at our house and would text us if things changed. If he was unhappy with something that was done, he would correct it just as if he were doing the same work in his own house. A perfect example of this is when he removed and replaced a pocket door that was not sliding very well to the new bathroom.
We have had a plethora of work done in and around our house and have worked with several contractors/professionals, i.e., two story house addition, landscaping, and electrical work. None of them compare with the professionalism and integrity that Joe exhibits.
Since the basement is now finished, our family has used it every day. We are so very happy we went with Good Guy Home Improvements and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone.

They did a really good job. They come in and do minor stuff and they are really good actually. Once they had by mistake completely covered one of the vents with flooring. So we realized this and called them up. They just came out and cut it open, and found where that was. So that's a good part. They fix that kind of stuff. The original estimate was $16000 and when it was all done, because of a couple of things they took $2000 off the bill without even asking or anything. So they are definitely a really good company. Last year they completely redid our basement. So we've actually used them twice. This year it was just the kitchen and the flooring. They painted the whole upstairs. We had new doors put in but I'm not sure if they did that too. We hired them again because the basement was done so well. We gave them a chance to quote and they had one of the best prices. They quoted us $16000 and the other contractors quoted us $24000. That's a big difference. They gave us a pretty good quote on the basement too last year. I don't remember how much it was. It must have been around $6000. They cleaned up daily. They swept up everything daily. In fact they had sub contractors and if we weren't happy with the sub contractors, the owner would be there to make sure it was done properly. He watched over his sub contractors very well. They are definitely a great company. We will use their services again in the future.

Good Guy Home Improvement did a wonderful job with our basement. They were very professional and were very good at listening to what we wanted and then made it happen. Their workmanship was high quality and we are very pleased with the way our basement turned out.
