Major disappointment. Dale Felty, the company owner, was referred to me six weeks ago. Upon inspection of my project I was told 1) that he could get to the job within several weeks and 2) the cost would be $3,000. Four weeks ago I told him the site was ready, but he told me that he was still a couple of weeks out, but would start in another two weeks. Two weeks ago he then said he needed to review the project again. It took another week for him to come back out and review again. He reiterated the $3,000 quote and was to start this Monday. Over the weekend he pushed the start date out to Wednesday. On Wednesday he pushed to Thursday. On Thursday he pushed to Friday (today). Today he and his assistant showed up. We spoke briefly about the project and I let them go on about their business. About 15 minutes later he informs me that the project is "a lot of work" and now (that he's onsite) the cost to do the project will be $4,000. I challenged him as to why the price would change. The scope of the project had not changed (in fact I did several things to make the job easier). Essentially his response was that contractors are all busy and that $4,000 would now be required for him to do the job. My response was that I had other less expensive quotes ($2,500), but was willing to pay $3,000 as he had been recommended. I even offered an additional $300 to cover the cost of some LED lights (which were to be included in his initial quote). He refused. At that point I told him that his "bait and switch" tactic was not going to work with me. And that this was the reason contractors get a bad name. His response was that he has a great reputation and didn't really care. I told him that the job paid $3,000 as agreed and I expected to be able to take him at his word. At that point, without saying another word, he walked to his truck and left. (I did feel bad for his assistant who seemed embarrassed by the situation.) Clearly $3,000 was a fair price. Dale Felty thought that he could arbitrarily raise the price because he is busy. And he thought he had leverage with me to get more money because he (finally) was on-site and could complete the job today. While I would not recommend Felty Electric, as based on my experience Dale Felty is unprofessional and not trustworthy. I would strongly suggest anyone that does plan to do business with him get a detailed written quote for the job, the costs, and the timeline.

I have used Felt several times and have always been extremely p-leased with the quality of work provided. Dale is knowledgeable, professional and very reasonable. Recently I had a "glitch" happen on a Saturday and I called Dale. Even with a full plate in front of him he said he would make time to get to me that day. He arrived, found the problem right away.(I had overlooked a simple fix) Dale was very gracious about having run 30 miles out of his way. I highly recommend Dale and his company.

Dale was great! He is prompt and professional and really knows his stuff. He was able to solve several of our outdoor electric problems. He came up with a fantastic idea to make our kitchen island light fit on a ceiling beam better by turning it and making new holes for the hanging chains and plugging the old ones. Looks awesome! I'd hire him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: wired outdoor light post, hung and wired interior kitchen island light, hung and wired several ceiling fans
