Services we offer
Residential Bath and Kitchen Remodeling only. We do excellent work (Super Service award 9 years in a row) and we're affordable. Over 75 years combined experience of our staff!
Services we don't offer
We only do owner occupied residential bathroom and kitchen remodeling. We DO NOT DO room additions, exterior work, insurance work, whole house remodeling or flipping, rental property or handyman repair jobs. We only do Electrical, Painting, Lighting and/or Plumbing work as part of a larger remodeling project.
Pete (the actual contractor) did a great job! I am incredibly please with the outcome. He had to run plumbing and electric into the area and it looks great! My only caution is there was a couple of months between the time we contracted with them and the start of work. I had to call Brian (the scheduler/co-owner) rather than him keeping me abreast of the schedule. I was glad that whenever I called him he did answer his phone or call me back. Overall I would definitely recommend them for bathroom remodels and installations. They really know what they are doing and the outcome is professional.

We are so happy with our new bathroom. It's more beautiful, than I even imagined it to be. From sales to installation Mike, Brian & George were very friendly and helpful. We received a detailed quote and estimate on the spot. Mike and Brian came back to do a walk through and let us add a few adjustments. When George and Dave arrived each day the covered the stairs and furniture to keep everything as clean as possible. George spent the time to make sure things were done the right way. He kept us informed daily and answered any questions along the way. They cleaned up and hauled away everything, that was torn out each day. We highly recommend their service and we will use them again, when we remodel our kitchen.
Description of Work: Remodeled our master bathroom. Removed and installed new flooring, shower, jacuzzi, toilet, lights & vanities. Home is 18yrs old The shower is amazing! Tiled to the ceiling with a bench and shelves added. George did such a great job with all the tiling around the shower, jacuzzi, and floor. I wish, I could add some pictures.

Every part of our hall and master bathroom remodel went great! Mike came out to do the estimate. He was able to make us feel comfortable with thecompany, the process, and provided us with a detailed estimate on the spot. We came to an agreement on the materials that we would be purchasing, when we needed them, etc. Brian came to do a walk through prior to ordering materials and went through the process with us again. A few days prior to starting the work, Brian and George came for a walk through to make sure everyone was on the same page before George (crew leader) came to start the work. We don't have a single negative thing to say about the remodel. The remodel consisted of a complete tear out to the studs in both bathrooms, installing tile showers and floor, new drywall, vanities, mirrors, toilets, painting, exhaust fans (one needed venting added), rerouting some plumbing, vanity top, faucets - everything! They did one at a time to limit the inconvenience. It did not feel as if our house was undergoing a major renovation, they took great care to clean up as much as possible after each day. Our hallway carpet was probably cleaner during the remodel than it typically is. The craftsmanship was great - George spent the time to make sure things were done the right way. He kept us informed of any issues along the way and gave us all the information required to make decisions. The entire process from beginning to end was completely stress free. Trust me, we have had other work done in the past and this has never been the case. We now have two fabulous looking bathrooms that we actually enjoy using now. We plan to have our kitchen remodeled in the future, and we will definitely be calling these guys again.

.I am really happy with my bathroom remodel. Richard did a great job on every part of the job and treated my small bathroom like it was really important. He had great ideas and really listened to me about the look I wanted to achieve. He worked long hours and did a beautiful job on my shower tile and floor tile. My 1947 bathroom will look amazing for the the next 60 years thanks to Richard. He is truly a craftsman and one of the best experiences I have had on a home project. He does great work! Can't wait to start my kitchen remodeling project with Dayton Home Remodeling-I will definitely request Richard to do the kitchen.

The whole experience was very professional. The initial review and quote was detailed and comprehensive. The estimate provided was spot on and there were no suprises during the work. The team was here every day, on time, and were diligent with their work. They cleaned and took away items torn out as they went. We discussed progress with them each day and they were extremely professional in helping us understand where things sat each day. Issues or items that came up during the process were reviewed and agreed upon throughout. We are already working on plans and quotes for our next project with Dayton Home Remodeling. We would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: We had a space with two rooms and a small bathroom that were very dated and needed updating. The structure is at least 60 yars old and we knew it was going to be a challenging project. Dayton Home Remodeling updated the space for us, made repairs, updated lighting, re-surfaced the ceiling and walls, added a shower, put i a new sink, new cabinetry, a new water heater, all the associated piping for water and gas, and made it look almost new.

Wonderfully! The process was simple, the least expensive of three quotes we received, professional from the word "go", clean (they covered the entire space while working and did a thorough cleaning each day), timely, and the finished product is beautiful. We are very happy and would use them again. Shout out to Brian for all of his hard work!

We had our upstairs bathroom gutted and completely remodeled. Richard was the person doing the work. He was very thorough and paid attention to every detail. It did take a little over 3 weeks but the results were more than worth it! Richard acted as if he was remodeling his own bathroom. He cared and worried about every detail and that it was perfect. I highly recommend Dayton Home Remodeling and am now having them remodel our kitchen.

#### Summary: I am extremely happy with the job that Richard did for me. He worked very hard to do quality work and it shows. I would use DHR again in the future. #### This is the first time I've used Dayton Home Remodeling (DHR). Payment was broken up into three pieces. Deposit at contract signing, % at start of work, remainder % at completion. Before the project began I agreed in the contract that I would remove the old shower, toilet, and provide a 40sq ft vinyl. Richard Payton from DHR was the craftsman that did the site inspection and later the actual work. DHR and I were flexible on my start date due to both our schedules. The space was ready when Richard arrived on the day to start the remodel. New tub and surround arrived as scheduled to the house on the first day. Richard put drop cloths in place from the front door, up the stairs, down the hallway to the bath room. Richard removed the old base boards, vinyl floor, and faucet fixtures. Capped the hot and cold water pipes. Inspected and prepared the floor and tub floor. Inspected wall insulation and added new vapor barrier to outside wall. He cut and laid the vinyl floor then covered it to protect it while working. Richard carefully test fitted the tub in place several times to get the exact drain and vent position located. When satisfied with the tub fit (Richard goes to extremes to get it right) he secured the tub in place. He tested the drain for leaks many times until satisfied before moving on. The faucet fixtures and surround walls went in place next. Then the prep for the drywall, secured it in place, taped joints, mud joints (2 layers +1 skimcoat). Caulked all outside edges of tub and surround walls. Installed new wood base boards. Obviously this took Richard several days to complete between steps. He was always on time, prepared and had the right tools for the situation. He was helpful pointing out some things he found and shared his knowledge if I had a question. I was both in the house and a few times out when he was working. I had no issue with him leaving his tools and material at the house. He cleaned up all trash and removed debris each day. Thank you DHR.

The entire project went very smoothly. Mike responded the same day as my inquiry and was very helpful with his suggestions as to what I should update. He did not try to have me do more than necessary. Richard performed all of the work on both bathrooms. I cannot praise Richard enough for the excellent work he did and the great service he provides. He pays attention to all the little details which suited me just fine. He takes pride in his work and gave me lots of little tips that I could use. Very friendly and trustworthy, plus he knows so much about his trade. And best of all, he cleaned up everything when he was done. I wish I had found this company sooner, so much better than other work I had done in the past. I would recommend them and especially ask for Richard.
Description of Work: I am preparing my house for sale and wanted to do a refresh of two bathrooms. This included some minor repairs, painting, new fixtures and lights, new vanity tops, and installing a ceramic floor in one bathroom. I also had the master bedroom repainted as well.

I can't say enough about the DHR team. From the quoting process with Mike, to Brian and his crew, they did a great job. They started on the date that they expected to and finished that promise by ending on schedule, and followed through on exactly what the scope of the job was. Every detail was finished as I expected, and then some. Special honors go to George who personally performed the remodel. Whatever curve (literally) that my house threw at him, he was able to adapt and make it work to achieve the final result. He kept me informed of any minor modifications that became necessary as the work progressed and did a great job of making this as least disruptive to the household as possible. I will not hesitate to call DHR when I take on my next house project. Thanks to George, Brian and Mike!
Description of Work: DHR did a complete remodel on my bathroom. They tore out the entire 70 year old room and started over from scratch. The bath tub was replaced by a walk in shower as well as replacing all of the plumbing and electrical for the room. I also had them remove a confining soffit above the bath and remove a large, intrusive floor to ceiling cabinet making the room gaining some square footage as well as "opening up" the room.

We had upstairs bathroom remodeled. Richard did a very nice job...He is very meticulous about his work and takes pride in doing a very good, detailed job. He cares about his work. He had a lot of steps going up and down, which made the job a little more challenging, but he handled it well. When it comes time to remodeling our next bathroom, we will ask for Richard again.

Wonderful service! They were very thorough, made suggestions to ensure things looked nice. They cleaned up at the end of every day and stored equipment in a non-intrusive place. I felt very comfortable with them around and they were not bothered by my small children. The work looked great when it was done and was finished early, right before Christmas! Every one I mentioned this to was shocked. I would recommend them to anyone.

I contacted Dayton Home Remodeling via Angie?s list messenger to inquire about having our bathroom remodeled. Mike responded in less than an hour and we made an appointment for an estimate the following day. Mike was very helpful with the estimate process and explained all the details. He understood we were working on a budget and did everything he could to help us reduce our cost by letting us do our own demo, paint, etc. Initially we were scheduled to start work late January, but Mike was able to adjust the schedule and fit us in sooner. This helped greatly because my wife and I are trying to get as much done before we move in. I was contacted by Brain several days before work started to set an appointment so he could introduce me to Richard who would be doing the work. Brian gave me some good tips for some tricky spots that I came across during the demo process. He also made sure to check on the progress of the work throughout the entire remodel. I am really happy that DHR assigned Richard to remodel the bathroom. He definitely lived up to Dayton Home Remodeling?s core values, he showed up on time, maintained a positive professional attitude, explained everything he was doing, didn?t cut corners and he displayed impeccable attention to detail. During the process of the remodel several unexpected complications arose and Richard was able to problem solve and correct them. The first was a damaged floor joist that was right underneath the drain for the bathtub. Most contractors would put in sister joist or box out the joist. This would have been very expensive and time consuming. But knowing we were on a budget and sticking to DHR principle of affordable and reliable; Richard was able to build onto the wall and move the bathtub out just enough were he could install the drain without causing further damage to the floor joist. He then repaired the damaged floor joist so no issues arise in the future. Another complication arose with the green ground wire for the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). The original GFCI was attached to a copper water pipe. Richard pointed out that the National Electrical Code (NEC) just changed in 2014 and discourages using copper pipes as a ground and can be a safety hazard. He made sure to run the ground wire properly and to Code. Richard went above and beyond during the home remodel and I am very happy with his workmanship. My favorite part is the tile in the shower, words can?t even describe how sharp it looks.
Description of Work: Provider removed an interior wall and coat closet to install a pocket door and converted the closet into a linen closet for the bathroom. A new Sterling Ensemble bathtub was installed with all new hardware. The floors and the walls around the tub were tiled and a shower box was installed. The bathroom required an exhaust fan to be installed and vented to the outside through the attic along with new wiring and switches.

I was very pleased with the job which included new vanity, toilet, tub, trim, painting, lighting, fixtures, etc. The house is old and bathroom provided plenty of unforeseen challenges. I would definitely recommend and expect to use again.

Dayton Home Remodeling priced out a master bathroom remodel that included tiling and extending out a shower with high-end marble tile, tiling the bathroom floor and tiling around an existing tub. They removed old fixtures, removed a vanity and large mirror and tore out carpeting. Work included replacing lighting and a light/fan fixture. We ordered a vanity online and they brought it up to the second floor location and installed it without incident despite its size and weight. We were pleased with the work done. The particular crew that worked on our project was courteous and meticulous. They accommodated our specific requests and consistently asked if we had further questions. They were creative in their approach to solving construction matters as they arose. We would consider them again - and specifically the crew we worked with - for future projects when required.

Called to get an estimate and they were very adaptable to a tough schedule. After we got the estimate they gave a date to start work a few weeks out. They showed up when promised and started working. They worked on the bathroom for almost 2 weeks as promised, took a little longer but they gave ample notice. The bathroom was only non-functional for only 1 day which is less than I would have expected so it was good from that standpoint. The work looks very nice and professional, they were adaptable after we changed our mind on the faucet we wanted. This was our choice and nothing the company did, we simply didn't like the one we originally picked out and wanted a different one. I would use them again for other work and would recommend them. They do good work and keep their word on what is going on with the project. Overall a pleasant experience dealing with these guys.

Thanks. We're glad you and your spouse like our work! Just to clarify though, the actual remodeling was done at your house in Dayton, Ohio, not your home in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. We work within a 30 mile radius of Dayton, and Eden Prairie is a trifle beyond that.:)

The bathroom floor and toilet needed repair badly, and Richard removed the tub and toilet. He found mold and cleaned the area thoroughly. He installed the new tub and tub surround. He also removed the sink and vanity. We chose the sink and vanity colors. We also were given the choice of sink, toilet and tub fixtures. Richard installed all new wood and ceramic flooring to our satisfaction also. He had to replace some of the old plumbing. The house is 60 years old! Richard was neat, clean, and friendly. We have shown the new bathroom to some of our friends and have recommended Dayton Home Remodeling to them if they have a need. If we have any further repair needs done in our home, we will call Dayton Home Remodeling!!

Ugh. Nothing but problems from the start. Signed contract in March and work was supposed to be done by mid-April. Didn't hear anything from anyone until mid-May. Had two different sub-contractors here within two weeks and both ended up being fired by the company. One scammed us out of an extra $600 for electrical work that wasn't needed and never done. (We found out that we weren't the first customers scammed) From what I've learned since, this company does little - if any - vetting of its contractors before hiring them and sending them to your home. ALL of them had previous polIce records. (?!?) The final two contractors were pleasant and easy to work with on the remodel. It took 4 weeks to finish the job(s). Drama. Complete drama.

Response from Dayton Home Remodeling
The first thing we did was contact the customer to find out what was wrong with our work, and why we were receiving a bad review a year and a half after the job was completed. The customer replied that everything was great with the two bathrooms and they loved them but she was tired of Angie’s List calling and bugging her to do a review. She had told them “No” repeatedly but they kept harassing her to do a review. So she finally gave them one off the cuff to get them off her back. We were unaware that Angie was doing this but apparently there are all kinds of customer complaints on the internet about this practice by them. We think “No” should mean “No”, not “keep bugging me.” As to the substance of the review – first off, when we were told by the customer that they had been ripped off for $600 they gave our installer for side work that we were unaware of, we immediately reimbursed them in full (Check # 1228, July 2, 2013), even though we were not morally or legally responsible for their bad judgment. The review fails to mention this, doesn’t it? It is against written company policy for our installers to accept or solicit side work and we were unaware he was doing this. We terminated him immediately. Then we found out he had promised another customer similar side work and taken $1500 from them. We reimbursed that customer also. This goes on all the time – customers ask our installers to do side work so they don’t have to pay us a fair price to do the work, but if something goes wrong, it’s our fault, even though both parties were acting deceitfully. Of course, we got an “F” for Professionalism because of this. And Angie’s List allows this kind of review to drag us down and give other potential customers the idea that we are rip-offs, when nothing could be further from the truth. We should have an “A” for Professionalism for bailing the customer out. As to time frame, we admit we took 4 weeks instead of the two weeks we estimated to complete the customers’ two bathrooms. During that time we fired two crews – one was the installer that took their $600 and the second turned out to have a drug problem and his prior good work habits deteriorated into poor craftsmanship, which was unacceptable. Both of these crew leaders misled us in our background checks, and it was only after they had worked for us for a while when we found out their deceit. The third crew we assigned completed the job and the customer loved it, and still does. The review seems to be saying that we use sub-contractors that we randomly find when we sell a job, rather than our own crews. This is untrue. We only use our own contracted bath remodeling crews. We have made one change, however, we have reduced the number of crews we have from 7 to 3, and my partner Brian has stopped running a crew in the field and now only manages all the other crews. This means he normally inspects every job daily. Our more recent stellar reviews reflect this quality control. Once again, the review in question is misleading because it lacks timeliness, being a year and a half ago. Since it’s the most recent review on Angie’s List, it appears that we’re suddenly doing crappy work. But in truth we have rectified all the issues raised. Since then we have successfully remodeled over 100 bathrooms. Even in this case, the customer is happy with our work, and did not pay a penny more than contracted. Unfortunately, the review and score don’t seem to reflect that. We apologize for the customer’s inconvenience but given the circumstances, we feel we went above and beyond the call to make this customer whole. At all times we acted in good faith. We don’t know what else we could have done. We actually lost money on the work. But that’s what you do when you have integrity. We stuck with it and the customer has two great bathrooms for only $6000 total cost. To mislead people with this review only adds insult to injury. And I blame Angie’s List more than the customer. After all, the customer isn’t a professional reviewer. They just wanted to be left alone. It was Angie that pushed them.

*******UPDATE******** After our bathroom was completed, we started making the fixes described in our original review. The next workday, Brian called to check in on us and ask what happened. We explained the situation and he was very understanding of why we felt the way we did. He stopped by to see the work, and agreed that we shouldn't have had to fix the things we did. He offered to make things right, and we accepted. The next available day, he came out and corrected all the remaining issues. Everything looks wonderful! We are really happy with how everything turned out in the end, and how they addressed the issue very professionally. Based on all that, we updated our ratings to reflect the final outcome, which was straight A's. *******ORIGINAL REVIEW******* Overall Dayton Home Remodeling is a good company. Mike and Brian were great. They were very professional and responsive. Compared to other price estimates we received for remodeling our hall bathroom, they were much more reasonable. They also gave us options of doing some of the work ourselves and/or keeping items in our bathroom that didn't need to be replaced, like our toilet, to save on cost. Brain came out and did an initial walkthrough to make sure he understood all the work we wanted done. Brain came out a second time to do another walkthrough with the worker, Phil, that would be doing the actual work. The work started on time and we were told it would take one week. At first everything went fine. The demolition happened quickly only taking one day. The next the day the bathtub was already in and we seemed to be making great progress. However, after this the remodeling hit a few snags. Phil did not show up for the next two days. Then there were other delays. He accidentally damaged the vinyl flooring the day after it was installed. He did completely replace it so it looked great instead of trying to patch it. We also noticed when we came home from work one day that two nail heads had come down through the plaster of the first level ceiling from the bathroom flooring. In addition, drywall was damaged in the adjacent bedroom when he was working on the vanity plumbing. Once we pointed this out, both issues were fixed to our satisfaction. Also, when Phil went to pick up the countertop from the subcontractor they couldn't find it, so they had to do a rush order to make it. The bathroom remodel ended up being finished in two weeks, which was twice as long as we were originally told. We were not on a tight timeline, so this wasn't a big deal for us. Phil finished up the work late on a week day and it was dark, so we did not check over the work as thoroughly as we should have. The next day we noticed some sloppy work that we had to correct. Although we were told two coats of paint were applied, there were numerous locations we had to touch up. In addition, the sealing of underneath the mirror to the drywall was messy and we had to fix it. Also, enough caulking was not applied to the corners of the tub by the flooring, which left gaps where the subfloor was showing through. We will need to fix that as well. Bottom line we will probably have Dayton Home Remodeling do work on our home in the future, but we will request a different worker.

Response from Dayton Home Remodeling
We appreciate our customer's understanding, and the opportunity to correct the mistakes we made in remodeling this bathroom. Regardless of whether or not there was a review on line, it is our policy to respond to any issue with any customer in the same manner as we did with this customer. It is also our company's policy to terminate any Installer who fails to achieve an "A" rating when reviewed. Consequently, we terminated this installer immediately. As far as we're concerned an "A" grade is "Pass" and any other grade is "Fail."

Job was great from start to finish. Mike did a great job with the quote, Brian insured all details were covered and George and his crew did a superb, and professional job with the demolition and installation. George bent over backwards to make sure we were happy and all the details were completed with perfection. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a top notch renovation.

We had another great experience with DHR. George and Paul worked on our Master Bathroom and did an excellent job. My wife and I are extremely happy. George and Paul showed up every day they said they would, and put tarps and plastic down every day to keep our house clean. George is a perfectionist. His work on our tile floor and tile shower was great. We are happy with the way every thing turned out. When other subs came to our house to do drywall and install glass doors for shower, George was there making sure they did everything correctly. George found a defect in the shower door trim and he made the contractor replace it. There was also a scratch on one of our cabinets and he had the cabinet manufacture replace it also. All in all, a very good experience with Mike (Sales), Brian (Operations) and George (Installer). We would definitely use them again and would recommend them to our friends.

We are incredibly happy with our experience. You would never know thanks to George's great work that no wall was straight or plum. Incredibly happy with his work. Would have no hesitations to work the him again.
