GREAT! The garage door wouldn't raise more than 5", via opener. Called when they opened. They added me to the schedule for TODAY. They don't make appointments, per se, but rather they call you 30 minutes before expected arrival. I received my call and tech was on time. Initial diagnosis made. (Broken spring) . Gave me the option to replace one or both. I chose both. Work was efficiently done. Very happy with service, Very happy with courteous tech.

Great customer service, excellent choices of products. Even better was the installation by experienced installers. They did a great job, the doors are much heavier and of a higher quality than from a big box store, more soundproof, and look incredible!

We have a beautiful, energy-efficient door that was installed with great care. Two workers took 6 hours installing the door. It looks perfect. Very well sealed, airtight, all trim work done very well. I’ve never seen a more careful job on a home project. I’d recommend them, and the door manufacturer, to anyone.

I don't ever fill these things out. But I am AMAZED at the service we received today. From the time I damaged the door and called, we we had a repair person onsite and everything looking amazingly like new in just about an hour total. I backed into this thing, knocked it off the track - I had pieces of the wheel assembly laying in the driveway! - and Bill wasted no time, got down to business and, like a wizard, somehow had us not only repaired but flawlessly so and left us fine-tuned. I am thrilled that we weren't bilked for a brand-new door because I would have had no choice. The fee was more than reasonable for same-day service with results this amazing. I also want to recognize Bill for being timely, knowledgeable, efficient, friendly - he saved me thousands as far as I am concerned. And, best of all, he didn't make me feel like an idiot for backing into the garage door (he probably knew my wife and kids will have that covered). I'll tell anyone who asks - and several who don't - that Dayton Door Sales is spectacular. Many, many thanks.

The salesman said I had to buy a door with the frame because they come as a set, and I heard it's cheaper that way, so I continued through the process, and they gave me a quote for very nice door and frame that I would never need to paint, and would last forever. And the price to match. Awesome door! Not what I was looking for. The salesman was really nice, and said I could call him back and have him adjust the quote for what I was looking for. I will probably contact them again when I need a new front door.
Description of Work: I wanted a quote for a side door frame that wouldn't rot. I never used the door, It's blocked off with ladders, salt bags, etc. in my garage.

I know I was supposed to put much of what I wrote above in this blank, but it's been quite a while since I've written a review, and I forgot. All I can say is that if and when I need another door, I'm calling this company. And since I paid the bulk of the cost for the door several months ago when I purchased it, I don't remember exactly what the price was. The door was unusually expensive because I live in an old suburb where the houses date back to the 1920s and, as this company explained to me early on (and as I've heard from many others who live here), our front and other doors were designed when the standard sizes of home doors were 2 to 4 inches smaller than the doors that are standard no, so they cost more.
Description of Work: I bought a new storm door from them, just as a huge winter storm was moving in. It wasn't snowing or sleeting, but the temperatures outside were below zero with the wind and not much better without. He had to install the new door where the old one (which had been there for many years) had been, which added to the task. He not only did a great job of installing the new one so that it seals tightly, he also cleaned up some issues left when the company that installed the old one removed it. Throughout all of this, he was working mostly outside, exposed to much of the wind. But despite all of that, he not only did a great job of installing the new storm door (which works great and is very attractive), he also worked on my regular front door a bit so that there would be a strong seal between the two doors . . . which was not within the letter of his contract. I go into that detail because I found both the new storm door and the gentleman who brought and installed it to be of excellent quality.

Garage door opener is loud and shakes/vibrates so that you can feel and hear it in the room above the garage. Garage door will occasionally stop when closing, moving back into a fully open position. Almost as if something has triggered one of the sensors or safety precautions. Owner received call notifying of pending arrival time. Two technicians performed general maintenance to the system. They were able to quiet the mechanical system somewhat and provided tips on how to keep system from getting louder. Technician explained that due to age of system, this is normal. Technician explained the cause for the door stopping and reversing when owner attempts to close is likely due to sunlight hitting the old sensors. Technicians cleaned sensors as part of maintenance. Technician explained system will need replaced in near future. He explained options to owner (replace now or wait until current one dies) and gave recommendations on type of system to replace it with. Will likely use them again.
Description of Work: Performed general maintenance to current garage door opener and sensors (approx. 15-20 years old).

Requested service via web on Sunday afternoon and the work was complete before 10:30 AM Monday. I inquired about a new opener as I was concerned that the one installed in 2003 should be replaced. They inspected the current opener and said there was no need to replace it at this time. It was refreshing to have a company tell me what I have is fine and not try to sell an unneeded replacement.
Description of Work: Replaced a broken garage door spring and additionally replaced the left spring as well at my request. The springs were old originals and I felt the left spring was likely to break soon as well.

The original entrance-way was two solid steel doors with no glass. With about a 1/4 inch gap between them towards the bottom. Great doors if you are allergic to light, people, and have no interest in keeping AC in or winter out... It made the whole entrance-way dark and uninviting. Replaced with Thermatru fiberglass door and full sidelights. Dayton Door Sales provided a full line of Thermatru and Provia doors systems. Their pricing for most lines was a bit higher than others, but their track record on Angie's list, BBB, and length of existence indicated to me they were better installers. The salesman I worked with was excellent and catered to my numerous emails very quickly. Once ordered the doors came in at least a month earlier than I expected and were installed in November rather than December and January all without me pushing for it. In time for my annual New Year's party. Installers were on time, personable, and explained things as I hovered around watching them. I'm not an expert, but I did not see any of the most common cost cutting installation practices I had learned to watch for in researching for this project. Door and sidelights looked great and no mess, just need to wipe down the glass. Also, had them install a door + storm door and french doors in another home for about $2500. These were very basic fiberglass doors systems. Again, price was a bit higher than other places or the Lowes contractors. Installation was quick and easy which was a big deal as these went into my 80 year old grandmother's house. The less time strangers were traipsing around her living room the happy she was. We are having them out to install two more doors this summer. This is a review of Dayton Door Sales and not the Thermatru door systems installed. Obviously, Dayton Door Sales is only responsible for the installation, price, and service for the door system.

An appointment was made for between 1 and 5 PM. Was called at work at noon and told that if I wasn't home in 30 minutes, my work would have to be rescheduled for another day. I got home in time but garage door did not malfunction at first. The serviceman said he couldn't help me - that my account of the door starting down and then going back up was insufficient to determine what was wrong. Said he had checked everything and the door was operating properly. He tried the door one more time before leaving and it stopped part way down and then started back up. He replaced the capacitor and tested the door. Three weeks later, the door began having the same problem. I will hire someone else to fix it this time. I had this same company fix a problem with the door a year ago; that serviceman was very professional & identified the problem rapidly. I do not want this year's serviceman on my property again; I do not trust that he knew what he was talking about.

I was satisfied with the ACTUAL work that was done by the technician. My problem with this experience was it has taken a couple of months to get the ACTUAL work completed. Once everything was ordered correctly and the communication between management, sales and technicians were resolved, the job took about 45 minutes. Technician came out, told me he does not have this particular spring on the truck and would have to order the spring and come back out. He put a clamp on the existing broken spring to tide us over until they came back. There was a $49 trip charge that he said he was not going to collect until he came back out to finish the job. I never received a follow up call to schedule them coming back out to finish the job. I decided I was going to call another garage door company, but I forgot which company I was having the issue with, so I called Dayton Garage Door again. The tech came out, laughed and said wasn't I out here before? So, the same this happened, he said I'll have to order the spring (I thought they did that last time) and get back to me. Next I heard from a salesman to talk to me about new garage doors, and I was curious about the cost as ours is getting a little long in the tooth. After that call, nothing, never heard from them again. Then an invoice for $94 shows up in the mail claiming to cover the two trip charges. I was furious and call Dayton Door Sales immediately. From that point, management was placing the blame on ME when it was so clearly an internal communications issue. I told him, just order the part, get your tech out here and finish the job. The job was finished today and when the tech handed me the invoice it was $100 for the part and labor and $94 without explanation. After a few attempts at contacting management I did finally speak to someone who took care of the billing issue. In the end there was a series of internal mis-communications and assumptions that snowballed into this mess. It's been resolved and I'm happy with their work.

After my long-time existing garage door opener broke, I decided to install a new one rather than repair the existing one. The sales person I spoke with at Dayton Door Sales was very professional and asked the correct questions. Since the garage door opener I decided upon was in-stock, I scheduled an installation for several days out. The two technicians (Russ and Ryan, I think) called me ahead of time and arrived on-schedule. Both were very professional and very polite, and removed the existing garage door opener and installed the new one in 1-2 hours. Overall, I'm very pleased with their job - the garage door opener works fine so far, as do the various safety features. Some room for improvement: 1. The technicians cut new OEM wires from components and spliced into the ancient pre-existing wiring, even though that wiring was stapled to the wall and could have easily been replaced with the new wiring. Also, the splices (five total) were made using electrical tape rather than wire nuts (maybe just a personal preference on my part). 2. Error Code 14 (Sensor Wiring Intermittent Connection) appeared on the wall-mounted door control each time I broke the Protector System light beam. I contacted DDS Technical Support about this concern, and the gentleman to whom I spoke could not tell me whether or not this error code was a true problem, despite being an official installer for the product. He did indicate, however, that he would contact the manufacturer on my behalf. About one week later, word came back from the manufacturer that the error code was "normal". I find it somewhat strange that the door control throws error codes (rather than simple informational messages) for routine, reasonably-expected actions such as walking through the light beams, but it is what it is. Overall, a good product so far.

On 11/25/14 I had Dayton Door Sales tune up my garage door for $94, It was a great experience. On Mon Dec 15 I found the door had both springs broken. I called Nick at Dayton Door Sales at 4PM. He said they could fit me in on Tue (next day). At 1:15 Ryan called to say he and Russ were on their way. They had the springs replaced, the cables reattached and the door travel adjusted in only abt 1/2 hr. They only charged me for parts and labor - no trip charge since they had been out on Nov 25th Great Service! Extremely Professional!

Tue, rec'd a call at 8:30, arrived at 8:45 Besides the tune-up, Ben asked if there were any specific problems I told him the door was bought and installed by them in 2002. Since then I noticed light coming in on either side of the door. Ben completed the tune-up: adjust spring, tighten the rails and checked header He then moved the track in towards the jamb and added additional holes for support He finished by tightening the chain on the door opener The call took less than 30 minutes (the price includes the trip charge and 30 min of service) Ben was extremely professional and took the time to answer all of my questions The door fits great and even travels more quietly! Terrific service

I am very satisfied with my experience with Dayton Door Sales service and highly recommend them. When closing my garage door with an automatic closer, the door got hung up with a near by cabinet door and it jammed the movement of the door, basically racking it in the up position. I called Dayton Door Sales at 8:15 am the next morning, they confirmed they could service the door that day but because of the snow they had a high call volume and could not commit to a specific time of day. They said they would give me a call 30 minutes in advance of the technician arriving. I agreed, scheduled the service to be done and went to work. At 11:15 am the technician called me, said he was on his way. I met him at my house at 11:45 am. I asked if I had to move my project car, he said no, he will be very careful and is used to this kind of situation. He went right to work and in 30 minutes had repaired the door to working order, including the greasing of the track wheels as general maintenance. Very efficient and affordable service, I am very pleased with the outcome.

I went to the showroom to look at garage doors. The salesman explained all the different options available. They set up a time to come to our house and do an estimate. They showed up promptly for the estimate. We accepted the deal and a date for installation was provided before they left. The installer showed up promptly and was very professional. He explained what was happening as the installation was going on. After installation he explained to us all the features and how to use them. He answered all questions and helped us program the keypad to our code. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality door.

Description of Work: Installed a new double-steel insulated non-off-the-shelf door (not a custom size door (with warranty), but a size that isn't regular/standard); new springs, new double-set of rails ("regular" rails plus low-clearance rails), other misc. hardware; plus hooked up garage door opener, adjusted door opener to open and close smoothly...AND...in a good show of attention to detail/quality, cleaned the door of all hand/finger-prints after it was installed. Installation time took about 2 hours, this included removal of the old door and hardware, and installation of the new. They hauled away the old door as well! All-in-all, EXTREMELY PLEASED with the door, the workmanship, the attention to detail, the quality and.....you can beat the price for everything that was done!
