Appointment was fine but I feel they tried to take advantage of me and try to convince me we needed to replace our system which we did not need to do. It was repaired for $650 and is working great .
Description of Work: Air conditioning wasn't working. Was told it would be $2500+ to repair and recommended replacing for $8-12000. We had two other individuals come in, both of whom said they could repair it for well under $1000 by replacing motor which, in fact, one did and it is working great.

I called this company at 4pm and asked for help figuring out the problem with our AC, which wasn't cooling our house. The woman on the phone was very nice and pleasant to talk with, she scheduled us a technician during off hours for 9:00pm. We waited until 9pm, frequently looking out of our windows to check and make sure we weren't missing anyone. At 9:25 we called and asked about our service visit, the woman on call didn't know much (answering service) and forwarded our questions. We were called back within 10 minutes, which is nice, and told that because it was darker outside the technician wouldn't be able to assist us (on the roof, which we told CJS before the technician was scheduled to arrive). We were not called by the technician and no one attempted to ring our bell. We had to reschedule our time to 11-1 the next day. If I had known this would have happened I would have called another company and hopefully had the ac working or at least had the parts ready for the next day - I wasn't offered any compensation (the service visit cost is usually $89, but we were going to get it for $69 as it's our first interaction with CJS) for this trouble and I thought that wasn't very fair, considering we also opted for the "silver membership", which then lowered the price to $44, for the visit. I hope this was constructive and helpful as I am not trying to be mean or spiteful, the phone operators were very nice, there was just a big lack of communication, no follow through when it mattered to us (before bed time, it's a crispy 79 in here). Maybe we got preferential treatment for next day 11-1 appointment, but I don't think so. I will update my rating and review after our appointment to reflect new changes. --------- Update, the next morning. I received a call at 8am stating that my roof is too high to service for CJS and that they will be refunding our yearly membership due of $192 - if the technician was here last night they should have told me this then. I am not able to review this company on their repair services, other reviews can help you there.

Service went exceptionally well. Through evaluation of system to determine the underlying problem Gave several recommendations/solutions to fix the AC unit. They will be out in a couple of days to replace the unit. i expect that to go as well as the service visit.

I've found CJS to be very competent and reliable. I find their prepaid "service levels" to be slightly annoying, so I dinged them slightly on price, but they're solid, and I see no reason to look for another HVAC company.

I had already dealt with another HVAC company but just wasn't pleased by the lack of friendliness and professionalism. I called two other companies trying to describe my problem and what I wanted, but met roadblocks and high prices for a simple consultation. When I called in to CJS, that was very different. I was greeted with an extremely professional and competent secretary who listened to my situation in detail and actually understood me. The next day I had a worker here who fully understood my situation and was able to look at the system in detail and advise me on the next steps. I was also pleased with the price as the other companies I talked to were closer to $100. I will defiantly use them again. (If you care about the details of the "situation" you can read more here: We just bought this house and the Heat Pump seems to be working fine, but one upstairs bedroom is just not getting cool. I had a suspicion that the previous homeowners added ducts off the existing system in order to cool/heat a sunroom which they later added to the home. I needed a professional to look at the runs leading off and tell me if they were indeed "stealing" air and the system was not big enough to accommodate the extra square footage. He was able to confirm my suspicions and tell me that the system will not be harmed by a build up of too much pressure should I choose to cap off those runs and see if we can get more of the cool air into the upstairs of the house. For some reason, the explanation of this "situation" was not understood by the secretarial staff of the other companies I talked to, though it seems extremely simple to me.)

Overall it went well. They notified us when they were about 20 min. away and completed the job in a timely manner. Communication wasn't the best regarding what was all completed. For instance, it was never made clear whether or not they actually cleaned out the dryer vent.

My overall experience with them was great. I have a year plan with them where they visit four times a year and it is also with the parts. I love them. We have had them for several years. They are very good. Their price is great. If you are part of their premier program, you have priority if yours breaks down. They are a first class act. They are very dependable. They can install things and work on things. They put these things over their shoes.

CJS delivered a high-quality fall furnace inspection/tune-up on 18 November 2016. Richard, the HVAC service rep was very professional and friendly. He was very experienced, which immediately showed, as he accomplished various electrical, burner, and safety checks on the furnace. He explained what he was doing and why, and even cordially entertained my questions. Richard's a real pro and I'm confident my furnace is ready for winter thanks to his attention.

I had CJS come out to see why my AC was not running. I bought a checkup special off Angieslist and then scheduled them to come out. Once the technician arrived he informed me that they work off a set price sheet and selling of service plans before he even looked at the HVAC system (that should have been a giveaway there). Once he looked at it he told me that the system was low on refrigerant and that it would cost me almost $300.00 to add the required amount since it was a set price. I needed the AC working so I said go for it. About 45 minutes later the AC was still not blowing cold and he told me that I needed a new TXV and the contactor was bad and that the part would be almost $2000.00. He said the best bet was to have someone look and tell me what a replacement system would cost. The next day they gave me an estimate for $3300.00 for a new unit. I called another AC company that came out the following day and informed me that it was still 2lbs low on refrigerant, there was no TXV and that the contactor was not bad. He added 2lbs of refrigerant and 2 weeks later the AC is still nice and cold. After he left I called CJS to talk to a manager (Cindy) and told her to pull the invoice and told her what the other AC guy told me. She said she would look into it and call me the next day. 2 weeks later no return call and I have left her 3 voicemails to call me back. Signed: Frustrated customer

Richard, Codey, Alex and (I think) Matt (there was also one other tech, but I'm not sure what his name was) were all well versed and professional. Richard was my initial tech that came out to look at everything. Both our heating and air is 32 years old. Richard was very honest about everything that he saw. He said, it was time to pull the plug on my AC and my heating. It was his recommendation but I didn't feel at all pressured. He wasn't telling me that I had to go through them, even. He was wonderful and comforting. Codey was our comfort specialist and he did a great job of explaining the pricing of everything and getting us discounts where he could. The team that came in to do everything worked like a well oiled machine. Alex was the main point man that I spoke to. He was wonderful with explaining what was going to be done as well as what was actually done, when it was completed, and how to take care of our new equipment. He also told me that someone from the City Inspection Agency would be out to look everything over and what to expect. God love them all for doing so well by us -- because the temperatures for the past three days have been in the 100's. THANK YOU!

Contacted CJS after I was disappointed with the service I had received from another company. Josh was the technician that completed the inspection and subsequent repair. He did a great job on all counts. Was very personable, explained the issue, repair options, took his time in doing the work, ensured the system was working properly after replacing the coil, and explained their maintenance programs available that I had inquired about. His commitment to exceptional customer service was evident and much appreciated. I am relatively new to the area and feel very fortunate to have found a company that places a high emphasis on quality and customer service/satisfaction. I would definitely recommend CJS to others.

Technician was very professional and did a great job. He showed me the dirt/grime and now the HVAC is now running great
Description of Work: My furnace and AC was not producing enough air flow. I knew the blower was dirty but was shocked to see how dirty the AC coil was. This was years of build up even though I had had the furnace/AC cleaned by a different company over the past years. Removed the blower motor and thorough cleaned. Plus removed all the "gunk" from the AC coil.

The reason I requested this service is that My AC was taking a long time to cool down the house, but was working, and the outside unit was very loud The technician from CJS Heating came out and spent 20 minutes looking at the unit. His conclusion was that it needed a new compressor and that the system was not working at all because he could not get a thermal overlaod switch to reset. Instead of waiting for the unit to cool off and reset, he assumed that the compressor was non-functional and needed replaced. He gave me a quote of $2400 to fix it and also insinuated that there would likely be other problems and I might end up replacing the entire unit anyway, so he was trying to upsell a new system. However, he didn't do the new system estimate and I would have to make separate appointments for that. His diagnostic that the unit was not working at all, which was suspicious to me because I know that the unit was delivering cold air, just taking a while to do it,so I hired another company that same day to do the same inspection. This other company spent an hour and a half doing a thorough inspection and determined that the coils needed cleaned which was causing the unit to overheat and shut down. He did a simple cleaning and the unit is functioning properly ever since. After waiting for over a week to verify the unit indeed functioned normally, I contacted CJS heating on JUN 17 to tell them about what happened and spoke with the Operations Manager about my problem and ask for a refund. She asked me to send her via email a copy of the invoice from the other company to review and get back with me. It has been another week and I have not heard back from this company. They may well be very knowledgeable bu they are not interested in fixing problems for customers. They prey on those with malfunctioning equipment and use service calls as a rouse to make a sales pitch.

Thank you for calling us to service you home air conditioner. Our technician did conclude that he thought your compressor needed replaced. We suspect that either we made a mistake or that the company that fixed your unit bypassed a thermal safety on the compressor a “band aid repair we simply will not perform”. If we did in deed make a mistake I promise you it was done unintentionally. I promise you and anyone who reads this that we do not prey upon the public for any reason whatsoever. The accusation of us preying is simply an emotional statement made without any knowledge, or research of who we are, how we live our lives, or how we conduct our selves in a business setting. We simply do not engage in poor moral business practices, it is not a part of our moral compass. We are in fact quite the opposite of that description. We take great care in hiring the very best people. People that are positive, honest, humble, graceful, people who work well as a team. People who have a desire to help others, put others needs in front of their own, even putting others needs in front of their own families needs. Each of our team members agrees that each client is treated as if they were their own loved one. We look for opportunities to give back to people in need, and the community as a whole. We repeat biweekly training of our staff to deliver out of this world client service. We do apologize that you did not have this type of experience. Our operations manager, our entire service staff, and myself reviewed on 6/23/16 the information you submitted before and during our Thursday technicians meeting. We also approved a refund check on that same day. A refund check was presented and signed off on by me personally on Friday 6/24/16. I'm not sure it made it in the mail on that day but if not it would definitely be in the mail today Saturday 6/25/16. I wish you the best and hope if you have comfort issues in the future you would have faith and consider trying us once again. Our experience was great from start to finish. They did everything they could to fix our air conditioner. We all agreed it was time to replace. They installed our air conditioner and furnace in a very professional way. It was pouring rain when they installed. They set up a tent outside. We did not have a speck of dirt on the carpet despite the mud outside. We were very pleased with the results and will definitely use them again.

I got them through Angie’s List. They are expensive, but the quality of their work is excellent. I am considering going to somebody else because of the price, but I have been very pleased with their service. It is just that I have a hard time affording them.

I have used them the last 3 years and I've never had better service, or troubleshooting, in the 30 years that I have lived in my home. I would recommend them to anyone that's looking for quality equipment and service.

We got a great deal on a new humidifier and the tech was very helpful. They were quick to come out and get us on the schedule. I had gotten a few quotes and theirs was the best, plus they had great reviews on Angie's list. We had used a few different HVAC companies over the last few years to replace various things for us (new AC unit, new furnace, etc) and this was the first time using CJS. The tech spent a few extra hours trying to run the new wire from the humidifier to the thermostat and ended up having to come out with another guy a few days later to finish at no extra charge. We were very pleased and impressed with their work and their willingness to spend so long on running a new wire (when they could've just said it wouldn't work), however, I just went down there and was super surprised when I saw they had marked out with permanent marker every other company's name on our maintenance stickers, including all the phone numbers. I feel like that was very unprofessional. I feel like I would contact CJS again for work in the future (or at least for the 2 years free maintenance on the new humidifier that was included), but I'll admit that this pettiness and unprofessionalism does bother me.
