Beautiful paint work. No orange peel at all. Body panels were aligned well but not perfect. Car was washed and vacuumed. Looks great after some adjustment to the hood to make it aligned. They were great about making the adjustments right there while I was picking up the car. Was supposed to be done on 8/4. Got the call on 8/14 to pick it up. Could have been quite the inconvenience if I hadn't had a spare vehicle and was having to rent a car.
Description of Work: Body work on my car, covered by insurance. 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with less than 20k miles. Was cherry. Front left quarter was toast. Fender, bumper, hood, headlight assembly, substructure all replaced.

The accident happened on Labor Day Weekend 09-03-16. It was stored at the tow yard until Carl's came to pick it up on 09-07-16, and they DROVE it out of the storage barn to the back of the tow truck. 3 weeks later a call was put in to Carl's to find an estimated completion date. Carl's said they were waiting on the insurance company to find out who is liable for the accident before they started it. We called the insurance company and they said they have never heard of such a thing and that Carl's already had a check for the repairs the day the appraiser looked at the vehicle 09/08/16, which was 3 weeks earlier. Called Carl's the next week to ask again about the estimated completion date and they said 10/31/16, which was another 4 weeks! Told them the insurance will only pay for 30 days rental car and that the time was up this week, so Carl's put it on "priority" to get it done faster. Got to pick up the car on 10/27/16 but was told it needed to come back to fix the paint where plastic had gotten into the paint and about a dollar bill sized blue plastic was stuck in the paint. This should have been fixed before it was even picked up! Why inconvenience me returning again to fix a mistake? The excuse was given the paint needed to "cure" for a week. Except I call bull. I have experience working with car paint and cure time, especially baking which is what they do, it is usually no more than 24 hrs. On the trip home we noticed a "sewage" smell coming from the car and opened the hood to find the battery smoking, literally smoking. Returned to Carl's after hours to find the service guy and a mechanic who said the battery was fine, it was just charging because it was dead and if it was still smoking the next day to bring it back and they would look at it. A SMOKING BATTERY???? come on! We went directly to O'Rileys and put a new battery in. O'Riley's said yep, it has a dead cell. That it would not have started the next day, and it was overcharged and blew a cell in it. The O'Riley's guy came to the conclusion that I did, Carl's left it on the lot and the battery ran down then overcharged the battery and blew a cell. The excuse from Carl's given the next day was the accident could have blown a cell in the battery. I call bull again because the accident was on the rear of the vehicle not the front. Zero damage to the front. We were also told the vehicle had a dead battery when it came in to Carl's which is bull again because it was DRIVEN to the tow truck on the storage property without needing to jump start it. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, after everything was "fixed" the entire rear window was not adjusted correctly leaving a gap in the window and water coming in the rear of the vehicle. The rear door when closed rattled. When shown the rattle of the door and how it did not fit correctly, I was told the rattle came from the license plate. REALLY??? So I held the license plate and shut the door again. Guess what, it rattled. Excuse after excuse after excuse and "not our fault" statements and blatant flat out lies instead of a simple apology and a "we will fix this TODAY"... not next week, would have been the appropriate answer from the service guy. His answer was to bring it back in 2 weeks for the adjustments, my suggestion was to fix and adjust it now, which was "impossible to do". The car was taken back to Carl's and was fixed, again, and Carl's did rent a car until these repairs can be made. The adjustments to the paint and rear door were made, but then we had to return again to hook up the sensor in the rear door handle that wasn't working. In the end we had to return to Carl's 3 times to fix things they forgot to do or repair. The point is, the car took way to long to be fixed in the first place and after 8 weeks of having the car, it should have been fixed correctly the first time and not gone out in the condition it did. Carl's should have paid for the extra 3 weeks of rental car charges. I wrote the above statement 2 years ago and Angie's list keeps asking that I complete it. I am finishing this survey 2 years later in hopes of "cooling" down from this experience, but it still irritates me. I hope no one else will get treated this way is why I am finishing the survey. I still stand by my first statement that shoddy work should have never left the lot in the condition it was in. Returning to "fix" unresolved problems are inexcusable. Carl's did end up reimbursing for the battery which they added to the insurance claim. The car was sold last year and full disclosure was made to the new owners about the accident and work done. This was not my first experience with Carl's either. The first time I took a vehicle to them I had to return 3 times to fix and repair work that was not completed, but I wanted to give them another chance and benefit of the doubt and maybe they had a bad day. Two strikes in my book and its just bad work and bad customer service. I don't want anything from Carl's except that they know about my experience and fix their service department.

I was impressed that they did not charge me and I expected to pay $50. They were really nice about it. I think it is also cheaper there. They have great service and they work with you. The job came out great. Overall it was it worked with me and their price was reasonable.
Description of Work: I had Carls Body Shop & Towing detail a car out for me it earlier this year. I also had them do painting job for me. The last visit, they repaired a body piece in my car and painted it with no charge.

The cost was fair, they did good work and they charged what was a reasonable price. It was great work. They did what they agreed to and gave me my car back when they said and it looked better when it got here. They kept to their schedule.

My husband called earlier today to schedule an appointment for an estimate. The person he spoke with told him the estimator would be there until 5pm and he could come any time. My husband informed her that we would probably come after work today and would be there sometime before 5. We drove 25 minutes to Carl's, arriving at 4:40, only to be told the estimator went home already. Clearly this was a preview of how they do business. The only explanation they gave us is that they have a car show coming up. We called, we were told someone would be there until 5, and they went home early for their convenience, with no concern for our time. We have jobs and young children. Time is precious. Wasting 40 min because someone can't stick to a shedule is not an option and not okay.

Response from Carl's Body Shop & Towing
[member name removed], We are sorry for your experience with Carl's Body Shop as that is not our customer service expectation that we set for our customers. We looked into this issue with our office and the employee you spoke to, one of our body technicians, who should have directed you to our office instead of trying to help you, unfortunately he was not aware that we did have our back up estimator there to help you. We have spoken with our employee that had given you misinformation and corrected the matter with him. However, we want to make it right with you and your husband as we do understand your time is important. We do not normally make house calls, but the owner of Carl's would like to come to your house and take a look at your vehicle, take pictures and get an estimate to you so that no more of your time is taken from your schedule. Also, if you choose to have your vehicle repaired here after you receive our estimate, while your vehicle is in our shop we would like to give your vehicle a full exterior and interior detail. This service usually costs $299 however we would like to offer this service to you for free for your previous inconvenience you had here at Carl's. Again we are sorry that you had this experience and we hope that you will give our company a chance to make it right.

After my taril blazer was done. Had to take it back 6 times for thing to be fixed right. I had 12 things that was wrong with my trail blazer. It took over 2 months to get the thing fixed right. I would not take any of my cars back to this body shop. Also, took my GMC truck to another body shop for hail damage and it was done right the first time!

I am very happy.
Description of Work: I had minor damage to my Jayco RV repaired. Because of decals and painting, repairing campers can be tricky. Carl's matched my camper's paint and made decals for my RV, that was over and above my expectations. Because of that repair, I had Carl's repair a dent in the door of my pickup truck and detail the exterior. Again, they did excellent work. I only paid for an exterior detail, but they vacuumed and cleaned the interior of my truck too. The price was not much more than what another repair shop would charge, and I received a lot more service. (I had an estimate from another shop to repair the door.)

My parked mini-van was sideswiped by a hit and run which left my side mirror in pieces on the street and wires and bits of plastic protruding from the van. The mirrors are operated automatically from the interior and have a built in defroster which I was told would make the repair outrageous. The incident also something messed up with the wiring in the door that caused my automatic windows refuse to close at random times usually involving precipitation, of course. If not for the window issue I probably would have done without the repair altogether. A friend recommended Carl's Body Shop because that's the only shop he will work with. I'm a single mom with 6 of my 8 children still at home so there really aren't any pennies to pinch and I made that clear from the start. Carl's assessed the damages thoroughly, came up with some ways for me to save money and completed the work for exactly what was estimated.

They did not repair things that they said they did, and left things unfinished. The front right seatbelt was not fixed, and they said they did fix it, and then they treated me like a liar when I took it back to them. They did not re attach the inside panel in the right rear door, it was just hanging there. I did not have to pay any thing more than my insurance deductible, but I feel that they took advantage of State Farm, and should be charged with insurance fraud. They gave a low initial estimate so State Farm would approve the repairs, then raised the cost to more than the value of the car.
Description of Work: We took our car to Carl's to have damage from an accident repaired. The original estimate was $4000, then as they were working they found one thing after another and raised the cost to $7800 by the time they were done. They replaced the rear right panel with a used panel, and the rear bumper with a cheep replacement part. They told us it would take a week, two at the most, and then they kept the car for over 6 weeks making one excuse after another.
