+ -1 moreHe came to do some simple on the AC unit, and then added a lot of other repairs to the bill without asking before hand. So, we were very surprised by the cost. He was here for 4 hours working on the unit. If I had known up front that all of the repairs were going to be so expensive I would have attempted to get quotes from other companies first.
Description of Work: He replaced the filter, a dual cap, and added antifreeze to our AC unit.

Description of Work: 15 year old furnace went out. Instead of replacing a $600 part like I have done every other year, they convinced me to just replace that furnace with a new one, and I have to admit, I am so glad I did. The old one would break down at least once a year for the last five years, with the repairs being between $600 to $1400...good investment in the long run, and gave me peace of mind knowing it won't go out the next time it gets cold.

Description of Work: Our Air Conditioning went out in the summer and it was 90 degrees out. They came and installed the new AC very promptly.

Not only because Dave came out the same night on almost no notice when no one else would, but because he didn't take any opportunity to charge extra fees once he arrived. He knew I was desperate and would have paid almost anything, but he only charged me for the after hours service call fee that he quoted me up front on the phone ($127.50) and for the thermostat itself ($72.47). He was quick, thorough, efficient, and friendly. I am most grateful. In talking with Dave I found out that the company handles plumbing issues as well, and I definitely plan to contact them soon to replace my water heater.
Description of Work: This company really saved me. The A/C in my condo chose the day before our first 100-degree day this summer to stop working! Since I work late, it was very hard to find someone who would come out after 8:00 p.m. - even those who advertised 24-hour emergency service. I found the website for Baker Heating & Cooling online, and called, and Dave agreed to meet me at 8:30 p.m. the very same night. He found that the unit itself was fine, but the thermostat had gone bad and wasn't activating the condenser or fan. After testing the wiring to make sure the thermostat itself was the only issue, he replaced the (rather ancient) existing one with a new programmable unit that I selected. Through this horrible heat wave, I have been enjoying the wonderful cool air in my home.

+ -1 moreI believe this is still a father/son business and I've had both of them out to do work - when I told the father how impressed I was with his son, he said "well of course, I taught him everything he knows!" They have both been very helpful and educational whenever I've used them.
Description of Work: I've used Baker Heating and Cooling for many years. My first house had an old boiler and I needed to have some work done on it - after having several other heating companies look at it and obviously not know what to do, Baker came and was very knowledgeable about the system. They did a great job and were the only company I felt confident using. When I moved into my current house it had a furnace and A/C system which I had Baker come check out. They cleaned up the furnace and gave me advice on how to maintain the blower myself, and also gave me good information about the brand of A/C unit I had and what I could expect in terms of lifespan, etc.

+ -1 moreA representative showed up on time but he was a bit crass. Was expecting a nice company work truck with logos and such to show up. However he pulled up in a very old and dilapidated van. This isn't a huge deal but my first impression of the company didn't leave me with a tremendous amount of confidence. Took very little time in evaluating and proposed almost immediately a Coleman heating an air conditioning units. The price was reasonable but I had never really heard of the Coleman brand other than camping equipment. Overall impression was poor, price was okay but not a lot of options in terms of brands and didn't care for the personnel.

+ -1 moreI THOUGHT THEIR PRICE WAS FAIR. THEY ARE DEPENDABLE AND HONEST WORKING PEOPLE. WE HAVE HAD THEM DO OTHER WORK FOR US IN THE PAST. THEY ALWAYS DO A GREAT JOB AND ARE VERY HELPFUL AT MAKING SURE OUR PROBLEM IS FIXED.
