Description of Work: They were as helpful as possible under the situation. Obviously much of the family wasn't in the best of spirits after my father died. However, they did not try and take advantage of the situation. They provided my mother with the upmost care and service when she wasn't very responsive and wanting to make decisions. They also were able to work with her to find a great price for a small service and cremation. My father did not want anything lavish, and they weren't about to try and upsell to take advantage of the situation. Not that I would want anyone else to go through this situation, but I would recommend them calling them for any of their funeral needs. They had the kindest staff.

Description of Work: I was in need of simple cremation services for a family member who died unexpectedly. BHS was my choice, and it was the right one. The staff I dealt with were very compassionate and professional. They kept saying, "We are here for you", and they were. They made a very difficult task easier by their gentle and helpful manner.

+ -1 moreWe called after searching Angie's List for a funeral home in the Dayton area. We drove to Dayton, called BH&S and got an appointment that afternoon. We met with Abby Snider and she was amazing: sensitive, respectful, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. None of us had arranged a cremation and we couldn't have done it without her. The cremation itself was just under $1200, which we thought was very reasonable. They kept us informed and were available to answer any questions that we had. No one tried to upsell or talk us into anything. They were only there to help and provide the services we wanted. It was a difficult event and BH&S made it easier for us to handle.
Description of Work: Services included hospital pickup, newspaper obituary notices, cremation, oak container for cremains with an engraved brass plaque and death certificates.

+ -1 moreThey picked up very quickly after they were called. We met at their office the next morning to discuss our needs, which was direct cremation. The funeral director, Rick Snider, was very compassionate, professional and to our amazement, didn't try to upsell us on any frills or upgrade (we had prepared ourselves for that). We wanted direct cremation with nothing else and we were accorded the same level of respect and kindness as we assume others who spent many thousands more. Their prices were the best by far for direct cremation (due to their own attached crematory on site) and we had checked at a few area funeral homes. They took care of the death notice, paperwork and certificates very quickly and efficiently and everything was ready on time. When we went to pick up, the ashes were contained very nicely in a box with a nice engraved brass tag on it. The box was treated very respectfully and we were very grateful for that. Nice honest people. Still family-owned and local. Highly recommend them.
