We had Weather Seal do multiple things at our house - a new metal roof, larger 6" gutters and various other external finish work. This was all done 3 to 5 years ago, so this a longer-term review than most. As other reviews indicated, they subcontract pretty much everything. The folks at Weather Seal are very empathetic and seem genuinely concerned about the customer, but when it comes down to it, the work isn't very good - we're still dealing with leaks.

Do not use Weatherseal. After getting a quote from their salesman, who was responsive and upfront about everything, it’s been all downhill. Tear off was supposed to begin within a day of materials arriving. Materials arrive on a Wednesday, have to call the office the following Monday to see why no one has started. Crew shows up, tells us the work order is for our garage and house (it’s supposed to be just house). Fix that and come to find out there’s not even enough materials to do the house in what was originally ordered. Crew (subcontracted bc WS doesn’t have their own crews) has to go out four times to purchase materials, including materials REQUIRED by code. Weatherseal also did not include any roof ventilation materials in their initial order, even though the quote states it would be properly ventilated. Crews have been working on our house (only a 2300sq ft house, nothing gigantic or complicated) for over a week now and still have not completed the job. Take your money elsewhere.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the finished product! The over-all total experience was a delight! I am not going to say it wasn't without troubles and I will explain. The roofers whom where on-site were neat and timely and very professional, extremely hard workers and I cannot emphasis enough - neat !!!! I only found a few pieces of old felt from the tear-off and a single plastic washer in the flower bed. The project planner (Ralph) was great and we worked well together. Now in my experience any project is going to have a few bumps in the road and trust me it got a wee bumpy, thankfully Brenda (accounting dept?) was there to guide me through ensuring I got all the monies I was entitled to from my insurance company. Northeast Ohio had a large storm go through and roofers were popping up all over the place, out of state adjusters were as well. I am glad I had a local company whom was there to assist me with this project. Now as for the finished product I was more than satisfied, and so was a very good friend after she saw the outcome, she choose Weatherseal as well, and let's just say -- once again Brenda was there to guide us through her claim as well.
Description of Work: I had an insurance claim for wind/storm damage to my home, upon initial adjuster I was going to be afforded the monies for a complete tear-off and new roof. I also had ceiling damage - this review is only for the roof and needed exterior components.

The work was contracted with Ralph Conway on 3/14/17. The contract states that installation is to be completed approximately 6-8 weeks from contract date which would put us at a completion date of around May 2, 2017. As of the beginning of April the contractors came out to do the work and were questioned as to the lack of completion of the job. The men on site were not weather seal employee's, and argued that the missing room roof was not part of the original scope of work, even though they did not truly understand what actually was included in the original scope of work. The all seasons room portion of the house was left uncompleted with gutters and drip edging installed but no shingles/roofing of any kind. When asked why they would do the sides, but, not the shingles, they responded with "call your sales guy." I contacted the company right away and manager Sean came out and stated that he could see where the confusion was coming from, but, because we wanted it done it would get done. He assured me that it would be completed and someone would contact me "shortly" to set up that time to complete the job. I was happy to hear that they were going to complete the work at the very least. That was the beginning of May. It was several more weeks that went by before I reached out again to Sean (5/22) only to be told that they were sorry, with the weather, and being busy, that the job had not yet been completed but would be done within a week or two. It is now June 13 over three weeks later and I still have not been contacted about setting up a time, nor is the job completed. I should not have to wait over two and a half months for the job to have been finished. I am beyond frustrated to say the least especially since our salesman, Ralph, assured us that customer service was their number one priority, and they have a lifetime guarantee on everything. It is impossible at this point to say with any certainty that they would follow through on this promise as they haven't even completed the original scope of work. A long story short, I would never recommend this company to anyone and I will not be returning to utilize any of their other services. Hopefully Angie's list will follow up on issues with this company, since they've put their stamp of approval and guarantee on them.
Description of Work: We paid to have our entire roof replaced including the following: any wood that had been rotted out due to water damage, gutters, drip edges,Ice guard, flashing against the chimney, soil stack flashing, shingles, removal and inspection.

Brick ranch, gable roof, attached garage, with porch overhang on street-side. 4/12. Cons: 1) Price. Remember: estimate, estimate, estimate. I, admittedly, failed there. I had one other estimate, about $5K less for comparable material, labor, and cleanup with a 15 year company, however, financing was atrocious whereas the financing was doable with Weatherseal. 2) Communication could have a lot been better on the job-site end. The roofing crew left and I didn't know when the gutters and downspouts were to be installed. The gutters were taken off and thankfully we only had a light rain that evening and the following morning. 3) Looked to be a sub-contracted roofing crew. No Weatherseal emblems or affiliation that I could see. I thought, at least for the price, they would do it themselves. Again, I don't understand the roofing business, so perhaps this is the status quo. Ok, enough negativity, because there are bright spots! Pros: 1) The roofing crew was quick and the install looks fabulous! Took about 5 hours to do the complete tear-off, install new flashing for chimney and pipes, and apply all the layers needed, as well as all the shingles! The clean up was just as well done, very little trace that they were there! 2) The gutter crew did show up the next day, in the light rain, installed seamless gutters and downspouts, conducted the final walk around and made sure all was done to my satisfaction. Another quick, quality install, approximately 2 hours, mostly due to a tricky section on the backside of the ranch. 3) Communication about the date and time of the job and what to do in preparation was excellent! I had absolutely no issues about that aspect of the communication during this project. Overall a good experience. I'd rate lower B, high C mostly due to the estimate I received. I cannot complain much about it because I am responsible to get a couple more quotes in regard to the project, thus I rated a B instead of C.
Description of Work: Gable, 4/12, 57x25, full ranch (house and garage) roof tear-off and install. Pipe and chimney flashings. Seamless gutters and downspouts. Guessing 17 squares of material needed and 250 linear ft of gutters. 4 downspouts, elbows, etc.

They were on time and professional, working through the day to remove my old windows and install brand new ones. That's 16 windows in one day. The next day, they returned to work past dark to install the flashing and clean up. Everything went swimmingly. My windows and flashing look great and the temperature in my house is much more stable. It made a big difference. However, the storm door on my front door bangs shut super hard when the interior door of the entryway is not shut, and they left it open so as to make speedier movements out to their truck. They went through so many times that the door slammed itself broken. I really should have just propped it open for them, though they should have heard how hard it was slamming and taken some kind of precaution. The frame of the storm door bent a little, and they made adjustments, but it still doesn't shut right. I think it just needs a new piston/closer, but I haven't had the time or energy to replace it to find out. Other than that, phenomenal work, and I recommend them highly.

We had used an area contractor a few years ago for new siding. It was the worst experience ever........We needed a new roof but were extremely hesitant to hire anyone due to the previous horrible nightmare. I believe in getting 3 estimates for home improvement services and WeatherSeal was one of them. Actually, they were the only one. After speaking with Bill McClellan of WeatherSeal, we already knew we wanted to have them do the work. We explained our reluctance when he came out and he reassured us that he and his company would take care of everything. He not only told the absolute truth, but Bill and his workers went way above and beyond that. The workers were absolutely fabulous! They made sure they cleaned up everything and did a spectacular job on our roof! And Bill....well, he is the most honest, sincere, genuine person we have meant in a very long time in his line of work! Our only regret is that we didn't use them for the siding job. They will be back in the Spring however to help us fix other problems caused by the previous contractors. By the way, our roof on our 85 year old home looks perfect! It was even put to the test recently when the remnants of hurricane Patricia decided to come our way. Not one issue! All I can say is, CALL THEM! You will not be sorry or regret at all!

After signing the contract for my gutter project and paying the $500 downpayment, I was told by Bill D?Amico that someone would be out to measure my gutter needs and determine what materials were needed. A week and a half later, on a Friday I still had not heard from anyone. I called to ask when my project would be scheduled and was told that I was scheduled the following Tuesday (without asking me or even telling me I was on the schedule). I rearranged my work schedule to accommodate Weatherseal. The next day (a Saturday), they called and left a message at 12:45pm asking me to call back IN THE NEXT 15 MINUTES to confirm a rescheduled date. I happened to get the voice message within 15 minutes and called and rescheduled for a few days later on a Friday. When the crew (Will and Joe?) arrived on Friday, they had hardly any information in writing as to what was to be done to my gutters. They had not been given details or photos in advance, and said at one point that what was written down (by the guy that gave me the estimate) was not actually what was needed. The crew did a great job despite having little information about what they would be doing. The work was completed quickly and professionally and I?m very happy with the product to date. When the crew finished and took my final payment, I asked for a receipt. They said Weatherseal would mail me a receipt and warranty information for my new gutters. Two and a half weeks later I still had not received a receipt or warranty information but I did receive their cusstomer satisfaction survey ? on which there was no place to rate CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called to ask for my warranty information. They said they were "out" of the warranty brochure and would mail it when they got more in. Weeks later, I got a letter in the mail from Weatherseal assuring me that my gutters had a warranty (but no warranty information included, and still no copy of a paid receipt). In addition to installation scheduling without asking me or telling me of the date (without my calling and asking), the 15 minute warning for rescheduling, and never getting any follow up information about gutter warranties, every time I call the main line whoever answered never had an answer to my question (no matter who answers or what the question is, ?the person who manages that is not there? or ?I don?t have access to that calendar?, etc.). Weatherseal was recommended to me, they did great siding and gutter work for a friend, and the quality of work they did for me was good, but I?m not sure I would use again since I know how the customer service process will "handle me". The only redeeming factor in this process was the installers themselves ? nice, professional, made some suggestions I had not thought of, and answered all my questions - they alone made Weatherseal look good.

We went with Weatherseal thinking that we would get great work and service (based on radio advertisements and the website). We were told that the company did not use subcontractors. Our roofers were subcontractors. Our skylight leaked several days after it was installed. Roofers left trash in our attic and did not replace wood that needed to be replaced until my husband found it and they sent someone else out to do it properly. The aluminum trim has come off (currently there is some that needs to be fixed). Our garage door currently does not work (something with the springs or track). I placed two calls about this and am still waiting for a return call. I am still finding nails. Weatherseal did install gutter guards on the back of the roof to make up for the leaking and I appreciated that, but still am not sure we got our money's worth out of the whole project and I do not have a great deal of confidence in the work that was done. There were two gentlemen who did some of the repair work who were great. I wish they had done the roof.

Team was very professional and pleasant to work with. Sale was no pressure and team took the time to explain options and quality of products. While the team was working they were very quick to bring forward issues and suggest ways for addressing. Team was also very flexible with my schedule and ensured that worksite was clean. The work approximately a week and 1/2 and was accomodating to ensure that I could access the driveway and the lawn service could also peform their work. Final product is great! Neighbors have been appreciative of the upgrade and former owners of the house even stopped over to compliment the work.

The salesperson was a regional or district manager (I forget which), who showed up promptly for our sales quote appointment on a Saturday. The company required that both my wife and I be present, which we didn't like originally, but which turned out to be a good idea because we really did both turn out to have lots of questions. He was very detailed, and answered all of our questions patiently and kindly. He was very low-pressure, which we greatly appreciated. The product seemed to be of very good quality, and at first I thought we might hire the company. But there were two issues that really turned us off. 1. The company had been advertising windows for something like $158 each. The salesperson didn't even mention those until we asked about them specifically. His response was something like, "Oh, I wish they wouldn't advertise those. They're really low-grade. I wouldn't recommend those to anyone except maybe a house-flipper, who wasn't going to have to live with them." This seems like classic bait-and-switch tactics, which I did not appreciate. 2. The original quoted price was around $12,000, but the salesperson had a whole, well-though-out explanation for why he could offer us a 10% discount if we hired them that day, involving their cost for losing business if we wanted a follow-up visit and they had to cancel a first-visit appointment with another potential client. Maybe it's true, but in the end, it was just a way to pressure us into signing immediately. IN ADDITION, a few days later, he called and said that they had "a big commercial job" "in our area" (we live two miles from them) and could therefore do the job for around $6,500, as I recall. That made me determined never to do business with them. They were willing to let me pay $12,000 for a job they were willing to do for several thousand dollars less? No way. The company we did eventually hire had pre-set prices for everything, just like a menu, and the other company was absolutely great. Look for my review on them, and buy from them, not Weatherseal!

It went better than I expected! What can't this company do?! They were so easy and willing to work with us and schedule around our needs. The teams were friendly, professional and my dogs LOVED them. Understand the one dog always hides when people come but he hung right with them! The work was professional and they took the extra time and effort to make it right. They even hung the new outside lights for us when the put the siding up. No small detail was over looked and when the job was complete we could not find one thing that was out of place or incorrect. They even fixed our lawn and the neighbors lawn because we had to drive and park on them while they worked on the drive way. Communication with the project manager, the owner and the team members were never lacking. I actually received calls multiple times in one day to schedule the work and then to ensure the scheduling happened. They did such a great job that we have contracted them to do more work for us in the house. The house, yard and drive look great and we have had so many people stop to ask about the job Weatherseal did and how we liked their services. Recommend them...no I would HIGHLY Recommend or even just flat out tell you to use them. Every time I pull in our driveway I smile and know this was the best money we spent on the home.

Weatherseal put a new roof on our office building in June. The crew removed the shingles on the entire front of the building and covered it with a light weight blue tarp with a predicted rain storm coming that evening. It was a nice day the next day but they didn?t return because they said they had repairs to do from the from the previous night?s rain on other properties. The second evening the rain came in three floors with puddles in the basement. Wet drywall, carpet, hardwood floors and insulation. They said they would be out with three crews and make everything right. It was 30 days before any drywall, carpet or insulation was removed. We had mold in the walls and moisture throughout. They had attempted to dry the place out without removing anything which did not work. The amount of water was huge and 30 days later a moisture meter registered 95% in many of the walls with insulation sitting on top in the attic. At one point the ceiling collapsed and a large section fell. The 5th and 6th week they had their insurance company remove the wet section of drywall, carpet and insulation and proceeded to tell us that they were doing everything they could. It is now two months and I have been offered an insurance settlement by the insurance company to fix it ourselves with pay but we are busy people and have no time unless we give up the last part of our summer. The owner John Conner insists that this incident is an acident. We say that if it was done in a professional manner without removing so much roof with a storm coming this all could have been avoided. Leaving the bare wood roof covered only by a blowing loose tarp was careless. Especially for two days. To make things worse they charged my credit card without out my consent or approval for which they had asked. I said when I get my building back I will pay you.

contract states 36 inches for sidewalk. its 32 1/2. there are two steps on my contract. they put in 3 steps and a ramp instead then their engineer stated that it should have 4 steps and no ramp. Their contract states that any deviation from the contract would need to be signed by both the provider and the purchaser. this never happened. the contractor will not return because the building inspector passed them the codes that he used were 3781 through 3791. 3791.55 has to do with women breast feeding on property. in the codes there are no specifications or definitions for height of riser, ramp, steps and landings. the steps are never used and falling apart as well as the sidewalk, we were told a 4 inch base we have 1 in base at best. there was very little tamping. i asked about fiber paper and the contractor states they didnt need to. member is an experienced carpenter and the work that was done is unsatisfactory. The steps are uneven in height and tops with a ramp. I was highly pressured to take a deal from the salesman. He stated that as soon as he left the property deal expired. they also damaged my yard by driving on it and the neighbors as well. i have pictures for all damage and crumbling of sidewalk and steps. nothing is tied together. you can tell its not done properly. they stated they would be out in a matter of days by friday of that week. three weeks later i contact the company about canceling and they stated i cannot cancel because they already have my stone in their yard.

I wanted the windows of my home replaced and I wanted them tinted. They were very valuable in helping me decide what type of windows to purchase and they were able to meet my needs. In addition, they gave me a lifetime warranty on the windows. They were always prompt, courteous, and friendly from the first meeting to the final installation. They did everything they said they would do and were always professional and clean. I was completely satisfied.

basement remodeling

On May 12, 2014, torrential rains devastated Summit County, and unfortunately, I experienced a sewage backup, which affected my entire basement. I contacted the people at Weatherseal and they had an immediate response and began the cleanup process. They dispatched a crew out to my house to begin the cleanup and removal of the sewage and water that was in my finished basement. I was basically in a state of shock and could barely react and thinking clearly enough to know what to do, but the guys came in and took care of everything for me. They were respectful and courteous and were extremely sympathetic to my situation. The next morning they returned to continue with cleanup and removal of items that were contaminated. Unfortunately, my insurance did not cover any damages and Weatherseal worked with me so that I was comfortable as they began to move forward with renovations. They walked me through all the steps of the renovation process and took the guess work out of everything that was going to happen. It's truly a terrible situation for anyone to experience, but the guys at Weatherseal were the silver lining. They are not only taking care of restoring my basement to the condition it was prior to the flooding, but they also installed a check flap on the sewage line so that this never happens again! That peace of mind alone is worth it! I can't thank them enough!
