My comments: One of the worst experiences I have ever had as a consumer – and I have had many terrible ones. Incredibly rude and insulting crew. The owner is one of the worst human beings that I have ever the displeasure of communicating with in my life. The run-around about the owner being out of the country was absurd. The amount of conflicting statements or outright lies was astonishing (The conflicting statements are numbered in the timeline above). Many of the lies I suppose they can get away with, but I was under the impression that it was illegal misrepresent an R value. Maybe that is difficult to prove. Also, the minimum R-value by code in zone 5 is actually R-38 so I don't see how they are getting away with selling people less than that. Most egregious were the lies about the square footage. Who do they expect doesn't know how many square feet their home is? They didn't write any of the alternate square footage numbers down on the paperwork. They constantly cited "Mike" as an underperforming employee who didn't know what he was doing, yet then would cite an inability to deviate from what Mike had done in the original visit when it was convenient for them. He is also still listed as a contact on their Angie's List page. They make a big deal about wearing tyvek suits and respirators but they don't wear either (see pic) – just the 99 cent dust masks you can get at Home Depot. I'm also not sure how a warranty can be voided, but quite frankly I would rather just pay someone else to come out rather than having to deal with this company ever again. They seem to have several good reviews, but I didn't see any for insulation or for a warranty claim and, in fact, found several poor ones related to warranty.
Description of Work: Originally hired for raccoon removal and complete attic decontamination, insulation removal and replace 03/17/14. In late 2016 had a remodeling project that required replacing ceiling drywall. Discovered that insulation was not replaced in half of the house – a small layer of new insulation was placed over the contaminated insulation. I decided to inform Ace and request that it be re-done. The following is the timeline and related facts. Called them 12/12/16 spoke to Kelly (She actually never told me her name but that is the name on the final paperwork). I informed Kelly of the situation. Kelly said that someone would come out to investigate the situation 12/14/16 at 8 AM. Nobody showed up. Called at 10:46 AM spoke to Kelly again. Kelly said that she remembered me and that Ashley was coming but she had other customers to visit so that is why she was late (1). Kelly asked for my address again (1). Ashley called at 10:52 AM to say that she was on her way. Ashley arrived at my house. Ashley went into the attic to examine the situation. Ashley confirmed that the contaminated insulation was never removed. Ashley asked for paperwork. I showed Ashley work order with the company logo and letterhead (2). Ashley said that "Mike" did the original work and that he was an underperforming employee that the company had fired (3) and that is the reason the job was done incorrectly. Ashley thought that it was strange that the original job took more than one day because they never take more than one day for insulation (4). Ashley said that they would perform the decontamination and insulation removal and replace again and that someone would call by 12/20/16 to schedule. Ashley said that the owner is out of the country but it wouldn't be a problem because Kelly is his daughter and she can contact him at any time (5). Did not receive a call. Called 12/21/16 spoke to Kelly. Kelly gave several reasons for not calling: – they were having trouble finding a crew to work on it because they had to find people willing to work for free because the company wouldn't be receiving any additional money so they wouldn't be able to pay the crew any money. – they could not find documentation of the job and suspected that Mike had done the work and collected the money for himself (2). – the owner had to approve the order (14) and he was out of the country Kelly said once she heard back from the owner she would call. Did not receive a call. Called 12/26/16 3:46 PM spoke to Kelly. Kelly said that it would probably be fixed sometime later next year. I said that was unacceptable. Kelly screamed at me and again cited the inability to communicate with the owner, who was out of the country (5). I asked Kelly to have the owner call me directly then. Kelly said ok. Ashley called 4:14 PM (same day) and again stated that they could not perform the job until getting the owner's approval and that he would call me sometime next week. I said that if the owner did not call me by 12:00 PM 12/27/16 that I would find someone else to complete the job and seek indemnification for losses from Ace Wildlife. Ashley said that the owner would call back. I did not receive a call from the owner. Ashley called back 4:48 PM (same day) to confirm that they would perform the job. Ashley said that they would arrive between 7 AM and 8 AM on 12/29/16. Ashley called at 8:55 AM 12/29/16 to say that they were on their way. Ashley, Kelly, and another unnamed male arrived at 9:30 AM. I pointed out to Ashley the vent where the raccoons had entered in the past. I showed Ashley that there was a loose piece of siding where the raccoons were trying to enter again and that I screwed a piece of 2x4 over the vent and the piece of siding (6). Ashley said that they would repair where the raccoons tried to enter again. I told Ashley that I wanted to inspect the attic after all insulation had been removed, prior to adding any new insulation (7). I told Ashley that when they empty the new bags of insulation that she should pile them up in the garage. Ashley said they can't do that, they throw the empty bags out immediately. I said that I had to have some way of verifying how much insulation was going into the attic. Ashley said that they have 17 bags. I asked what R value they would be installing. Ashley said R 30. I photographed two different kinds of insulation, one white, one pink (12). They began removing the old insulation. They worked until 11 AM and left for lunch. They returned at 1:30 PM and worked until 5 PM. Unnamed male said that they didn't know how heavy cellulose insulation was. Unnamed male said that they didn’t have enough room in the truck to remove all insulation. Ashley said I had a piece of siding missing. I asked Ashley if it fell into their truck. Ashley said that it was not possible, that it was not there when she got there at the beginning of the day (6). Ashley said they would be back at 8 AM the next day (4). Ashley said that they had to go to the dump first, that it opens at 7 AM (8). They didn't show up. They did not call. I called at 11 AM, spoke to Kelly. Kelly said that they were on their way and that they had to wait for the dump to open (8) and that Ashley had an emergency call. Kelly said they would arrive at noon. They arrived at 1 PM. They continued removing insulation. I went outside at 2 PM. They were installing new insulation while still removing contaminated insulation (7). I approached Kelly. Kelly said that she was just about to come get me to inform me that I could inspect where they had removed the contaminated insulation. I went into the attic to inspect. I saw raccoon feces in the attic in a large hole in the fan fold that the raccoons used as an exit. A different male was adding new insulation right next to it. I told him that the feces was there and he said he didn't know anything, that it was his first day working for Ace Wildlife (9). He said to ask Kelly. I told Kelly. Kelly said that Ashley already went in there and looked and that it was not raccoon feces (10). I told Ashley. Ashley said that she didn't go in there (10) because Mike did not specifically list that area on the original work order (3). I told Kelly. Kelly said that it wasn't feces. I said that it was and re-iterated the concern. Kelly conceded that it might be feces and she would look. Kelly looked and said that it was pieces of "corkboard". I went into the hole and pointed directly at the feces. Kelly conceded that it was feces. Frustrated, I told Kelly that I should make them remove the insulation that they had added today and reinstall because of this, but that I was not going to do that. Kelly screamed at me, informing me that it was good that I did not make that demand because they didn't have any more insulation. I told Kelly that they needed to repair the hole in the fan fold. Kelly said that they wouldn't because it was "better" for my house to have the hole. I asked Kelly why they had someone installing insulation who had never done it before. Kelly said that the person was her brother and that it was a family business and he had been working for Ace Wildlife for a long time (9). They worked until 6 PM. Kelly’s brother told me that they had run out of insulation because Mike had measured incorrectly on the initial work order. Mike indicated 1651 sq. ft. but Kelly’s brother said that it was around 1900 sq. ft. (11). I asked Kelly’s brother if he was sure that it was more and he said that it was because he measured it himself. Kelly’s brother said that he needed 800 more sq. ft. (11). [Note: numbers are not typos] Kelly’s brother said that they could go to Home Depot and get more insulation but it would not be the same color (12). I said that I didn’t care about the color. I again brought up the fan fold. Kelly's brother said he didn't know what fan fold was and that it could not be purchased locally. Kelly’s brother said that they would be back the next day (12/31/16) to finish (4). I asked Kelly’s brother what time. Kelly’s brother said that it would be 8 AM if not earlier. Kelly’s brother said that it would not take long, that it would be just him and one other male worker (13). Ashley called at 8:45 AM 12/31/16 to say that they would arrive shortly. Ashley and unnamed male arrived at 9 PM (13). They worked for about an hour and a half. They did not repair the fan fold. They finished blowing in new insulation. I inspected the insulation and saw that it was not deep enough for R-30 (see pic). I informed Ashley and unnamed male. They said that they were done. Ashley had me sign a new work order. The work order had the exact same verbiage as the original except that they were voiding the warranty. I asked Ashley to add a note on it describing why they had to return to re-install the insulation. Ashley initially refused citing lack of space on the work order as the reason. I showed Ashley a location where she could write it. Ashley said that the attic actually measured 2400 sq. ft. (11) and the half of the house that was not done properly on the initial visit was because that was not included in the original work order. I asked Ashley for the forms that I should have that Mike did not provide. Ashley said that the work order was the only form (2). They left. Ashley called moments later asking if she could come look for her phone in the attic. Ashley received a call from Kelly while looking for her phone. Ashley and Kelly appeared to have an argument. After the phone call Ashley spoke more candidly. Ashley indicated that she does not like working for Kelly but leaving the company would be uncomfortable because her and Kelly had been friends for a long time. Ashley said that Kelly runs the company now (14).

Description of Work: Raccoons in the chimney. He showed up quickly and on time. Set a trap on the roof and on was caught that night. He came and picked it up the next day and reset the trap. Caught another one and came back the following day. Placed a protective wire cage over the opening that had fallen off. No problems for one year.

I called based on a recommendation and they promised to come out. They came out in a timely manner and set some traps but during my initial call they took down both my name and phone number wrong so I had no communication from them during the job. I received a bill out of the blue saying they were done and I owed them about $200. I called and talked to the technician that worked on my house to find out what he discovered and to let him know that he left one of the traps in my yard. He promised to come back and to provide more detail but I later found out that he left the company and thus didn't contact me. I called when I got a second bill and spoke to someone but I paid the bill just to be done with it. Not sure if I would use them again.
Description of Work: Chipmunks were seen runningup the corner of the garage where the siding corner cover is. I called to have them check out the site and remove any chipmunks.

It was a pleasure to work with Chad, the owner of Ace Wildlife, and Joe who regularly came to our home to bait the traps and relocate the squirrels. They were both very friendly, polite and professional. Chad explained the pricing of his service and included a ten percent senior discount. Everything worked just the way he explained - no unpleasant surprises. We will definitely use this company again for any wildlife issues.
Description of Work: Ace Wildlife placed three humane baited traps in our yard to collect squirrels. Over the last few years, the squirrel population had grown and was out of hand. They were ruining our yard with all of the burying of acorns and subsequent digging them up. Whenever a squirrel was trapped, Ace came the same day to remove the squirrel and deliver it to its new home in the country. The trapping process took approximately ten days and resulted in six sqirrels being relocated.
