WOW! is proud to serve a number of communities in the Midwest and Southeast. We started out in 1996 delivering cable TV service in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, and have since added the services that our customers need. Today we offer digital cable, HDTV, DVRs, high-speed Internet, and local and long-distance phone service. In 2012, WOW! acquired Knology, Inc. and began serving customers in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Kansas, South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. We continue to listen to our customers and have plans to offer more exciting services in the future. WOW! is privately owned by Avista Capital Partners. With corporate offices in Denver, WOW! has assembled a diverse and experienced management team. This team and all WOW! employees share a passion for doing things right and delighting our customers with friendly, quality service and affordable prices. Wow had a quick and easy installation of cable phone. It is reliable and the unlimited calling feature is great. They also have good international rate plans. You can have as many phones in the house as you want hooked up to the phone for no additional cost.

WOW cable is reliable and is always on. I did not even lose cable during the big power outage in Columbus three weeks ago. I have had a few problems with the DVR not recording things it should, even though the show is in the to be recorded list. TIVO is a better system, but for the price and convience, you can't beat the WOW DVR.

WOW has been reliable for internet access. I do not have down time; it is always ready for me to utilize if needed. I didn't even lose service during the Hurricane Ike force winds in Ohio. Their installation crew was informative and worked to give me service quickly.

The installer came to the house to install our DVR. He was very friendly and had a clean appearance. He did his work quickly, and even played us some music on the piano before he left. He was great with our children and pets, and thanked us before he left. Every WOW employee I have come across has had this same attitude. It is odd to enjoy doing business with a cable company, but I recommend Wow to everyone I know.

They are always there when they say they will be, they are very courteous. If your cable goes down in your area for any reason, they personally call us and let us know that it's out and that they are in the process of fixing it, they promise to call when it's back on and give an estimated time. They always follow up and thank you for staying with them. They always send discounts in the mail. If you refer someone to WOW cable, they send you a fifty dollar gift card. You can use it however you want.

He was on time. The job was neatly and cleanly done. I was very satisfied with the service. He was prompt and he listened to what I asked and what I had to say.

Overall, it went really well. There was only one problem. We have an invisible fence, and one of the workers cut into the cable when they were putting in the internet line, but the contractor was easy to work with and fixed it easily.
Description of Work: They installed a new cable connection for us, and we dropped our phone line. They gave us a new DVR, and now we have cable and internet.

I have had problems with installation, billing, and the cable TV service itself. Their website is almost unusable (for example, an online printable billing receipt does not include the billing date or even the company's name). Calling their customer service has led to much frustration. For example, I paid my first bill over the phone with my Visa card, and they even gave me a confirmation number. Yet they lost that payment, confirmation number and all. When I signed up in November, they promised me a $25 "WOW a Friend" discount on my February bill, and gave me a confirmation number for that. Now it is May and they still have not given me the discount. I have been calling monthly for my discount, and each time I have to start from scratch with a different person, and they make a different excuse (can't find that confirmation number, friend's name was misspelled, etc.) and say "look on next month's bill." They tout their JD Power & Associates Customer Satisfaction Award, but it's hard for me to understand how they ever could have won it.

A WOW tech came out to hook everything up. He did so, but when he threw the switch, he found that the cable had been cut, underground. As the cable went beneath the sidewalk, he was not allowed to fix it. I was promised that the cable would be fixed the next day. Well, that came and went in spite of two additional calls. I was then promised they would be out on Monday, but would call me on Saturday to tell me what time. I called again Saturday afternoon, only to be told that all three of them had been untruthful and it would be at least 10 days before they could get to us. After I hung up, I called another company. They installed everything this morning...............and I canceled WOW. Ergo, a new email address.....
Description of Work: We moved from one location to another, in Central Ohio. Have been a WOW customer for 5 years.

Please don't ever make the mistake of doing business with this company!
Description of Work: My wife and I used Wow Internet and Cable for a couple of years. Their Internet and cable service is great. However, we moved to a new house and decided to switch to Time Warner. Wowway could not pick up our cable box or cable modem so we were instructed to take them to a drop off location. Wowway charged our bank account nearly $900 even though they have the equipment. After several phone calls and several assurances that the money would be returned to us, we have seen no money.

They have the best price in town. At one point, we had a problem with the service. They came out and replaced the splitter free of charge. Every once in a while the service will go down, but it doesn't last for a long time. Overall, we are happy with our service and would recommend them to others.

I called on a Tuesday, I believe, and they were out on that Friday. Fixed it, showed me the cause and everything has been fine since. The installation in 2003 was a little rough, but since then all service has been very reliable. First time I've ever had to have them back out. Never lost cable or internet since we have been with them, until the critter got involved. I have heard some complaints, but my experience with WOW has always been good.
Description of Work: Wow has been our cable and internet provider for over 3 years. Recently lost the internet and had to call them out. An animal had been chewing on the wire in a hole it dug under by deck. No charge for this repair (Price shown is for monthly service).

I received my cable and phone service through them, however, my phone doesn't work to this day (which was installed 2 months ago). After the installation, the company left a big wheel of cable in my backyard and left scraps laying around. In my bedroom, they forgot to put a phone jack, and when I make calls my phone has clicks or is dead. The cable is working ok.

The good: Installation was only $25 because I am an OSU employee. Also given a competitive monthly rate (for a limited time.) The bad: The technician took forever to install a cable line upstairs. Drilled a hole through a support beam; which made the job difficult and admitted that he "didn't think about it" when he chose a spot to drill, in the middle of my wall. Made a mess and didn't clean it up. I felt like they sent an idiot over to violate my home. The service has been just okay so far, slower than Roadrunner's equivalent, and it is a hassle and long wait for customer service on the phone. I called six times before getting the monthly billing settled, as each time I was quoted a different rate. Finally someone apologized and knocked another $10 off for a limited time, but the damage has been done. The next time I bother to call customer service, it will be to tell them I've switched back to Time Warner.

Huge fiasco from beginning to end!! So many problems and a very unpleasant experience. I have so many complaints regarding my experience it is impossible to list and describe them all. Please do not consider using this company! Disgard any mailers you receive that might tempt you into calling them. Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction! Your time is too valuable for this type of aggravation. They never responded to numerous questions, comments or concerns sent via email. This company needs to be investigated. They are a true representation of lousy service.

The installer had no idea what he was doing. He spent several hours at our home and ended up making a mess. We had to have another service person out to re-do the initial installation. It took 4 weeks for the cable to be buried in our yard. We have had several issues regarding communication too. The only reason we are staying with this company is that they provide HD on ABC for sporting events.

Now that we've seen the competition, we will never leave Wide Open West. They have excellent technicians and customer service. We are customers for life!
Description of Work: We have had WOW cable TV service for several years & have been very happy with the company. The system is easy to use, we get lots of channels, it always works & it's not expensive. We didn't know how good we had it until a Time Warner salesman offered us a free 30-day trial of high definition cable. They disconnected our WOW cable & installed a cable box using the wrong cables. The second tech put in correct cables & adjusted our TV settings, which made the high def program look almost as good as regular cable. When the 3rd technician showed up to collect the cable box, he refused restore our WOW connection and left while I was on the phone with customer service. Then they disconnected our cable so we had no TV reception at all. This meant three cable service calls within a week (6 hours wasted) & 3 phone calls (over an hour wasted on hold), leaving us with no TV reception until the WOW technician comes to reconnect our service (no charge or hold time).

I AM DISAPPOINTED IN THEIR PHONE SERVICE AND HOW THEY RESPONDED TO ME ASKING FOR A NEW SERVICE THAT WE SIGNED UP FOR. IT TOOK TWO MONTHS TO GET THE PROBLEM RESOLVED. THEY FIXED THE PHONE LINE, AND THEY SWITCHED THE LONG DISTANCE SERVICE CARRIER WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. IT TOOK THEM FIVE TO SIX WEEKS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SWITCH IT BACK. THE INTERNET IS FINE SO FAR, I HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT YET.

Technician Steven O. (tech.#4304) initially installed my Internet and cable service. He was great---very professional and informative. Anytime I have a question or concern or need any tech support, WOW reps have always been polite and responsive. There have been a couple of long frustrating phone calls about billing, but overall, persistence has paid off and I have a company that delivers great services at a competitive monthly price. I'm happy with WOW and would recommend them.
Description of Work: I switched to WOW!Internet and Cable service in January 2004 and have been satisfied with their service ever since. I bundled my phone service with my Internet and cable services with WOW last year, and I'm still happy and satisfied with them.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS SERVICE. THE TECHNICIAN CAME TO MY HOUSE AND FOUND THAT ALL OF MY CABLE WIRES WERE UPSIDE DOWN AND INSTALLED INCORRECTLY AND THAT IS WHY I WAS GETTING BAD RECEPTION. HE SPENT A LOT OF TIME INSTALLING IT AND WAS METICULOUS ABOUT HIS WORK. HE ALSO INSTALLED AND PHONE LINES AND FIXED A COUPLE THAT WERE IN NEED OF REPAIR AT NO CHARGE A SERVICE THAT I WAS QUOTED OVER $300 WITH A COMPETITOR. HE WAS THERE FOR 21/2 HOURS GOING THROUGH THE CRAWLSPACE AND PUT NEW CABLES THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE INSTEAD OF USING THE OLD ONES.
