bathtub refinishing

In early November 2010, a salesman came to our house, spent approx. 30 minutes in our bathroom discussing Glenn Beck, religious beliefs, etc. He left saying, if you decide you ever want to do a Rebath to your tub, just give us a call. When I asked for an estimate, he said, and quot;I don't give written estimates.and quot;I then mentioned that I had heard it could run about $1000. He said, and quot;that sounds about right.. maybe $1200and quot; and left. I called the company a second time and the same man arrived a week later. He commented that he hadn't sold a Rebath in years (rather than an entire remodel job). After more conversation, he leaned into the tub, chuckled and said, and quot;this is going to be tight. Well, we'll see what happens…and quot; He measured the tub, discussed a 4-6 week turn around, handed me a contract for $1450.00, and upon receiving payment said, and quot;it was nice to have met you.and quot; It was the last time we saw him.The contract allowed us 3 days to change our mind if we had any problem with the product, which did not arrive for months. After delays from the Christmas holidays, New Years and a few rounds of flu, we were finally scheduled to receive the installation late January. When the installer took a look at our tub and wall enclosure area, he gasped and seemed frustrated. Upon question, he stated that the sales people were all told not to sell a liner which did not have at least 1-inch of flat area around the top of the tub. He stated that they never seal properly and will leak. Alternatively, he suggested we take out the marble shower walls and ceiling to do a more extensive install. As we had less than half-an-inch of flat area, did not want a quality item which would become defective after installation, and did not want years of dealing with this tub, he left taking the liner back to the company. After returning to the company, the same installer said he didn't realize how much money we'd lose and suggested we go ahead emphasizing that for 1-year they would keep repairing the problems. In the following weeks, we spoke to a variety of people who all said there was a 1-year guarantee to reseal the liner every time it came apart. They also stated, damage would be minimal because water would simply backup between the liner and existing tub. (Where it would sit and require repeated repairs for years.) 5-months after the initial purchase, we were finally able to speak with the owner who refused to extend the warranty, or refund a partial deposit in any way. Furthermore, he was condescending, and rude. We believe Wingler Construction was not honest in it's business practice. We believe the people in Wingler's installation department to overall be good, dependable people. However, Wingler should not sell a product it has an inadequate ability to properly install and know will likely fail. Since the product was specified to our tub, we were willing to pay for the materials - which we have. However, we should not have to pay the commission of a sales person who improperly sold a product.

We would like to apologize for the difficult process this customer has been through. The representive is no longer with our company. We have recieved no service requests for this job as of this date, our contract clearly states a 1yr warranty for tub liners. I have tried to contact the customer and as of this time have gotten no response. If their is a problem I would be happy adress any issues. We have been in business for over 50 years, and have thousands of satisfied customers. I would be happy to make the Member one of them.

I think found them by checking Better Business Bureau and Angie's List. I wanted to spend a certain amount and I spent what I wanted. I'm doing a different company for my kitchen and they do both.
Description of Work: I used Wingler & Sons Construction January of this year. They took out faucets, they took down a wall in the bathroom and they did plumbing. They did some painting, put new laminate down, new shower, new vanity and all that. Basically they gutted the whole thing and did a new one.

He came to my house to get a estimate for my remodeling project. He was only here for a few moments and didn't take any measurements. It has been a month and a half and I have still not received the estimate. I called two weeks ago to follow up and he didn't even seem to know who I was. At this point, I wouldnt even want to hire the company.
Description of Work: I contacted them for an estimate.
We initially started out working with Brian who was really great. Very professional, knew how to work with the insurance claims inspector ( who, I have to say Brian really did a great job there... ). We ended up needing to negotiate/push the issue to have the cabinetry floor-level in both bathrooms and the kitchen + half bath ground-level pulled to ensure the water had not seeped in to these areas/caused damage ( and it in fact had, so Brian was right ). Due to unknown reasons Brian's employ was terminated mid-way-through on this project. Up to that point everything was going smoothly. We were not notified of Brian's departure - we just stopped getting responses. Some work was done but slowly. One of the last add-on items was to replace the carpet upstairs ( insurance adjuster flat-out refused to replace the downstairs carpet - more on that in a paragraph or two ). We were promised to be back in the house by thanksgiving, that did not happen. We were then promised to be back in our house by christmas ( would have been the first christmas in our new house... ) and that did not happen. We ended up moving back in new-years-eve ( I'm not kidding ). With the work they did initial inspection was ok. After being back in the house a few weeks I started noticing strange things like off-set cabinetry, screws missing or just sitting on the base board waiting to be put back in, strange installation of the carpet upstairs. I wrote a letter to Wingler asking to rectify and never heard back ( even still ) I feel their work got seriously uncoordinated with the departure of Brian. Stupid things like ensuring the cabinetry was able to be re-installed before actually trying to install it was not performed until installation time at which they said no they cannot re-install. The coordination of getting the air ducts cleaned and the carpet/linoleum installed were forgotten until the last second. The guys they had sub'd the carpet/linoleum install to did a terrible job on the carpet. The carpet in the downstairs which we argued needed to be replaced ( this is not Wingler's fault, this is the insurance adjuster tools fault ) is now falling apart in the areas we ( Brian + myself ) had told him it would.
Description of Work: We had contracted Wingler to repair water damage to much of our house. Upstairs bathroom/hallway, kitchen area, ceiling in the 50% of the down stairs + drywall. Flooring removal in downstairs + upstairs, reinstallation of the flooring.

Gentleman who came out to give the estimate seemed rather unsure of things and said that he wasn't really a window guy and he'd have to talk to someone else. He said he would go back and schedule to come out with the estimate in less than a week. No response. I called his number and left a message and also called Wingler office. No response. I have used them in the past with good results but I really doubt I will again Ii have left messages with both the estimator and Wingler twice. It is now one month since I first called for an estimate. Still no estimate. If I hadn't had them do work before, I would have given up. Let's see where this goes.. Got the estimate with a 10% discount for the long wait. The estimate is $3000 dollars over the other one.

Great-- took three days start to finish.
Description of Work: Roof repair and replacement from storm damage. Estimate was timely and they worked well with our insurance adjuster. After 4 separate company estimates we decided to work with Wingler because of their no pressure attitude and professionalism. They were not the cheapest and you get what you pay for. Work was excellent. Whereas most companies apply shingles with 4 roofing nails, they use 6. Our roof was the most difficult because of very steep pitch and their team just scampered up there with ease. Application and Cleanup was well done and work was neat and tidy on a daily basis. This was a big job-- for both me and my attached neighbor's roof, and included chimney paint, and gutter repair in areas we could never have accessed without Wingler's skill and team. They were great to work with.

We had a positive experience with all of the people with whom we dealt. We have been very pleased with the results of Wingler's work.
Description of Work: We had several issues to deal with, first being a hole in our foundation into the basement. Handled in a quick and professional manner to seal the opening on a temporary basis and later repaired thoroughly. We also had an upstairs bath to be redone == new tub, cabinets, sink, floor, etc. The family room underneath this bath had sustained damage to the ceiling from a leak and this was repaired and painted. A very professional company who responds quickly. We are in the process of obtaining another estimate for more work.

The shower doors are great - sturdy and look nice. Came very quickly and finished that. Linoleum is fine and is what was ordered. . Wall repair is rough and looks like it has been repaired. Not smoothed out well and the repair area is easy to see. Heat lamp works well and heats the bathroom. When the toilet was pulled there was a problem with the on/off valve so had to replace that for an additional cost, which was done right away.

They did a good job. John Moore was the contact and he was really good to work with. The construction crew that did the work was Harold's crew and they did a great job. I don't remember the price we paid. I definitely would recommend them. In fact, we are even considering getting an estimate from them for a bathroom remodel. We were definitely satisfied. I think their price was really reasonable for all the work that we had done.

The estimate seem fair, however I didn't particularly care for the guy who came out and gave me the estimate. He was a fast talker, and seemed like he was in a hurry to get somewhere else. The estimate was pretty vague about what exactly they were going to do. I would still consider using them, depending on other estimates I receive.
Description of Work: They came out and gave an estimate on the trim.
very smooth. Work generated expected dust levels but final product was huge improvement over 1950s green and yellow tile. Work was done when promised and on budget. Work was done some years ago but I saw that reports were needed on this company.

My two neighbors and I decided in early February to get the roof replaced, due to wind storm damage. Early March, we met with Jan Gordon, our rep, to discuss the details. The meeting went ok, we talked figures and materials, and I told her about flashing previously installed on my unit to keep squirrels out and I wanted to make sure it would be replaced, which she confirmed without hesitation. The next two months alternated between barely hearing from her with any statuses, and then suddenly she’d be very rush rush with wanting the initial deposit or other information already given to her. It took several requests from us to get any figures on paper, and when she finally gave us an invoice it was mid April. Jan's time organizational and management skills appear to be very poor. On our end, we did have an issue with the insurance check being endorsed that held us up a few weeks. Finally in July, the roof replacement was scheduled and we were told it would take 2 or 3 days. It took 8 or 9 days. Three to four weeks go by and no word or bill from Jan, then suddenly she called us with urgency about getting the rest of the payment. Once again, we had to ask her for a bill first. She copied the ones she gave us in April and wrote the final amount needed on them, and a week later we did get an official bill from Wingler corporate showing the same amount. It's late August, all was paid and done, or so we thought. October comes around and I begin hearing scratching in my attic. Shortly thereafter, my neighbor contacts us to say he got a call from Ron Wingler saying we still owed him $500 for the deductible. Technically, we did owe it, however it was never on any paperwork whatsoever, including the final bill. It was briefly mentioned in the very beginning and never again. My neighbor talked him down to $250 and asked for it in writing, which we never got. A few days after getting this information from my neighbor, I contacted Wingler (mid October) about the squirrel issue and talked to Bryan Teague, the roofing production manager. He said they could get someone out to replace the flashing in a few days and would give me a call back to set up a time. He was very nice and helpful. A few days go by and no call from him or any of his contractors, and this scenario happens a second time. Also during this time while waiting for their call, I emailed Bryan a few times and I even CC’ed their general office email address on this issue. The only reply I ever received was a confirmation from Laura Wingler (via Bryan’s email address) that she’d be sure to get the email to him, so I know they were getting the emails. Their office does not have voice mail. I reached a point where I couldn’t wait any longer for them to install flashing, plus the possibility of trapping a squirrel inside made me nervous, so I contacted the same exterminating company I used 3 years before to trap the squirrels and cover up the holes with flashing. The exterminating company’s charge was $686, and I paid half up front. Wingler had negated my prior 5 year warranty by pulling off the flashing. I emailed the invoice Oct 27th to Bryan/Wingler and asked for payment within 3 weeks. The exterminating company finished up everything 3 weeks later, and I emailed the final receipt and invoice to Bryan Teague and Wingler's general email address on Nov 20. I called a few days later to check in and the receptionist said Bryan and Don Wingler were supposed to be getting back to me. Never heard from them. Nearly a week later, I heard scratching in the attic again. I called the exterminating company, and they came out the following week to see where the squirrels were still getting in. Turns out my condo was now secure, but the two condos flanking me had 4 total potential entry points. Our condos do not have firewalls, so the squirrels were making their way back to my attic. Wingler must have taken off flashing that was installed in on their roofs for the same purpose as well, since I had never heard anything in the 3 years prior to the roof being replaced. I called Bryan Teague’s cell phone and got his voice mail. I was angry, saying I have called and emailed him several times, I was tired of being ignored, they owe me $686, and that I’ve wasted my money since squirrels are still getting it. Needleless to say, neither Bryan nor anyone from Wingler has ever called me back. If you have extra flashing on your roof for critter control MAKE SURE they are aware and the roofers replace it like they are supposed to.
Description of Work: Replace roof, and installed venting in our 3 unit condo building.
