Wingler Construction & Remodeling has been the local Columbus choice (since 1960) for replacement windows and other home remodeling projects. We supply and install many types and materials of windows.
Better than anticipated. I knew things would go well with installation because everything from phone calls with main office to the estimator coming out was very courteous and professional. In terms of installation, Rick and Shawn demonstrated the same. Everything went as explained by them, the finished product looks spectacular, all windows fit with precision, i was very pleased they could match color for exterior trim. They are the cleanest contractor I've seen. Important also was the product they installed was Quality. Thanks Glen for all your information. Thank you Wingler Construction for a Great Service.

We have the original wood cabinets in our 60's kitchen. They were looking extremely shabby after all the years and some were actually damaged. We had an in-home estimate; no pressure. The sales rep explained the process and provided visual examples. The work was done on the date I requested. Curtis took the cabinets fronts to work on away from the house. The next day, he brought them back and they looked many years younger. He then completed the process on all the wood and re-hung the cabinets. There was very little odor and absolutely no mess. Curtis takes great pride in his work and we were pleased with the results. For us, this was a more affordable option than refacing or replacing the cabinets.

The first contractor they sent did not cap the pipes in the shower and flooded the bathroom and damaged the ceiling below. He also used a blow torch and burnt the framework behind the shower. We contacted them and did not allow that contractor back in the house. The project supervisor did fix these issues and repainted the ceiling. The next crew they sent out were 2 guys who seemed to be more competent than the first. However our issues continue. As of today we have called them out to fix bubbles in the floor and where they had the carpet showing underneath the closet door. When the guy came out to fix it he scratched up the wood work and while the floor was again flat after the guy left it bubbled up again within 24 hours. We were told the glass for our shower would take 2 weeks. After 2 weeks they came to install the glass, they said it was measured or cut incorrectly. We waited another 2 weeks and when they went to install the door they said it was again measured incorrectly. We have now been without a shower since August 14th. I called the

The was the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. I signed a contract on July 5th and they knew I was under a time crunch. They said they could start the job in 2 weeks. I was going to be gone so I gave them a key. The house was empty because the new renters were not in yet. I had them put into the contract that it had to be completed by July 29th. They said they would start in 2 weeks, so when I returned from my vacation I went to the house. They had not been there yet. I called. They said they did not know about the job because the salesman did not tell them. Then they sent out a guy to work on the bathroom. He never showed up. Then I get a call that he has personal issues going on in his life, so they will send 2 workers the next day. The workers showed up on time and started working. But one of the guys worked the whole time with his shirt off and he kept smoking. I later find out that he was the other guy's brother and he did not even work for the company. They needed workers so they were desperate to have anybody work on the house. After the 3rd day (And it was August now so the renters were moving in), I called and talked to a manager. He said he was told it was done. He did not believe me. He had to make a visit. The next week, he sent a third guy out to do the work. This guy seemed somewhat competent. My renters told me this guy told them that he was sent there because the first people screwed it up so bad that he had to come and fix it. Well, he almost got it right, but after he left, I had to have the manager come and fix two issues, which required the manager to come back the following week to get it right. Today is September 29th and I am signing the paperwork to close out the job. This was a terrible experience and I will never use or recommend this company!

See above. Everything was highly professional. But as my first experience, it was disappointing. I didn't expect a bathroom quote of over $10,000 for a small bathroom. If I removed everything from my wish list but for the tub removal and shower installation, it was still above $7,000. Other last points, he didn't leave me any booklets to look through regarding the shower tile, etc. although he did have them with him and I looked through them during the interview. The quote was written on a plain piece of paper, nothing with a letterhead.,I guess I was expecting something different. He was very confident about the quality of their products and service, which was reassuring. Lastly, there was no follow-up from the salesman since his initial visit. Obviously, they aren't hurting for business. One last thing, I initially had gone to Home Depot to discuss a bathroom remodel. Wingler Construction is the subcontractor for them on Bathroom remodels. There is no one else. I went back to Home Depot and asked if there was another company they dealt with. They said no. I gave them a and quot;N/A grade on price because. I didn't purchase from them, and I haven't yet found another bidder to know if their prices were reasonable or not. The B grades were mostly for lack of options for me in what they could provide and a time frame to implement made it disappointing for me.
Description of Work: Provider came to take measurements and hear what my wishes were for taking out a tub unit and installing a shower unit.. He was on time, professional and full of information. He was obviously knowledgeable about the bathroom construction process and took lots of measurements. . Three things, however, were a disappoint to me: he only showed me pictures of a prefabricated material, which is what they apparently specialize in. I was thinking tile at the time, so my options appeared limited with them. The second thing is it would have been at least 8 weeks before they could have started construction because of their current work schedule. Maybe that is typical, but i thought it seemed a long time to wait. Lastly, although everything seemed to be of high quality it also came with a high price tag. He invited us to their showroom, but I haven't followed through yet and am looking for other bidders so I have a better understanding of what an average cost is for an average remodel.

Job went okay. Liked the salesman Bob and the installer. They short ordered materials which delayed the job a week. Biggest issue I have with Wingler is that while they were doing my bath I asked them to come out and give an estimate on a new roof, gutters and all new siding fir a 2012 project. When I was ready to do the project in 2012 I called them, they came out, took the estimate from 2011 and marked it up and went on their way. I went with another company and Wingker lost a $20,000 job. In 2013 I wanted a kitchen remodel done. I decided to give Wingker one more shot. They came out, discussed the project with me and took measurements. I was told I would hear back with an initial proposal in a week. A week went by and I had to call them. They said they would get back to me and nothing. I went with another company and Wingker lost out on a $30,000 job.

This was the fourth or fifth project I have contracted with Wingler. The first was a bathtub and remodeling of a bathroom, the second a complete change of the first floor of my home, the third a remodeling of the second bathroom, and now the exterior changes and updates. The initial issue was a leak in the roof, and this was solved with a section of roof removed, including the siding near the leaky roof, the sheathing, underlayment and shingles. Since this work was being done I thought it was time for new gutters and such, and so this was added to the job. I was also going to put on new exterior shingles, but the builder pointed out that what was up there was sound, just needed sealed and painted. This saved me thousands. The workers were, as with all the jobs I've had them do, extremely prompt, courteous, who were very careful to keep the area clean and orderly, and very good at dealing with the various issues that arose in the project. Once completed the bill was exactly as discussed, and subject to our agreeing that it was done to our satisfaction.

No serious problems, but little issues throughout. The 6-8 week promise of installation turned out to be 11 weeks. The installers couldn't make it the first scheduled day (truck trouble). No word from them on second day. Third day they were late. After that, though, they worked hard and long. They did a fine job on the installation, working around some unexpected issues and getting the result to look great. Another minor issue, though, was that the shower temperature control gadget was installed incorrectly, so that the shower only gave us hot or unbearably hot water. After I took it apart and flipped the limit widget, we now can get from cold to hot. They did a fine job of not tracking or speading construction mess through the house and of cleaning up their staging/working area in the garage (although they did - it seems - take out dustpan with them when they finished). My last minor issue is that, since I work from home, I can do without the Rush Limbaugh on the radio.

This was work to be done on our rental property so this was complicated by the fact that we weren't there and our tenants were constantly being obligated to be at home when the workers were scheduled to be there. Initially it started good however the workers would not show when we were told they would arrive. They would only work for half a day and then not return for a week. The drywall seaming and 'mudding' was very sloppy and the trim was not re-installed. They started in Sept of 2011but by June of 2011 they still hadn't completed the job. Originally was only supposed to take 30 days. We call the superintendent numerous times to resolve this and a meeting was arranged however they cancelled. We ended up finishing the job ourselves. We finished sanding, caulking and prime and painting it ourselves. We also found that they had not insulated the walls according to the contract specifications. The owner sent has several bills for the balance that we told them we were not going to pay. We paid half up front and because they only did half the work, we figured that were were even. Finally about Sept 2012, the owner came to see the work and admitted that it was poorly run and handled. We settled on a final payment and left on good terms however I wonand quot;t use their services again.

We knew that there was severe damage to some areas of a couple of the cabinets, but Kenton Keen and two other men from Wingler did a fabulous job in restoring the cabinets to about 98% of their original condition. They were scheduled to show up at 9 a.m.; however, they called around 9:20 a.m. and said they were caught in traffic, which we appreciated. They showed up around 10 am and went to work immediately, and they were completely finished by 3 pm with minimal disruption to our household. They explained each step of the process as they began work on the first cabinet so we knew what to expect with the remaining cabinets. We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the cabinets, as well as with Kenton Keen and his crew! If you already have quality kitchen or bathroom cabinets and are trying to decide whether to replace them or resurface/refinish, I would highly recommend this process.
Description of Work: We built our home 28 years ago and the oak kitchen cabinets were beginning to show their age with grime and a dull finish. We decided to resurface/refinish the cabinets because they were the highlight of the kitchen, and we were reluctant to pay for brand new cabinets. The resurface/refinish process included: 1) removal of the kitchen cabinet and pantry doors; 2) deep cleaning and degreasing; 3) applying a sealant and a finishing coat; 4) touch-up staining where required; and 5) rehanging the cabinet and pantry doors.
We were told there would be two men that would be working on our bathrooms and we would always have at least one bathroom that would be working. This was true, but we had one man in the first week who kept having a lot of interruptions. He would be on the phone giving advice to other employees or calling co-workers for caulking or the office. He was on the phone for work related reasons, thankfully, but it did slow down the project somewhat. He couldn't come in the second week as he caught the respiratory flu and the first bathroom was put on hold for a bit. The other man would start working on the second bathroom even though the first one wasn’t finished. So we would have to shower in one bathroom and use the toilet in the other. He was able to get the second bathroom done in about five and a half days, then finished up the first bathroom. My main complaint is the cabinetry as we spent a lot of money on the vanities. The company we ordered it from shipped them out with obvious flaws on both vanities. The wood grain had large blemishes and the wood probably shouldn't have been used for this type of work. Fortunately, this could be replaced quite easily, but it is time consuming as Wingler has to send the doors and front of the vanity back and the manufacturer sends out the replacements. In about four or five weeks after the jobs were done, the replacements came and those also had flaws in them. We’re not picky, these were obvious flaws that just pop right out at you. I just wished Wingler opened the box first and had this taken cared of before sending them to us. So we sent those back and I’m still waiting for another set of replacements.
Description of Work: I was referred to them through Home Depot. I had Wingler & Sons remodeled two of our bathrooms. We paid money up front to start the project and for the removal of the old fixtures and installation of the new ones. We also purchased all of the hardware like handles, faucets, towel bars, curtain rods, etc., so the bathroom fit our tastes. They did a complete remodeling of both of our bathrooms except we chose to keep our bathtub.

Timeline: November 2011, sales came out to get started with design and measurements. November 2011 we paid in full for all the work. December 2011 we called to check the status of the materials and find out a preliminary schedule. *Wingler was not able to provide an ETA for beginning our project. February 2013 Wingler called to schedule for a one (1) week remodel. *Husband took one (1) week vacation during scheduled remodel time. First team came out and did the demo of the bathroom (removed tub, shower, flooring, trim) First team came back out to drywall First team put in the new custom shower, floor and installed trim *Flooring was bubbled First team came back out and glued the floor to the floor, creating worse bubbles in the flooring. At this point the floor was ruined. For the first time, the PM came out to look and see what we had been calling about. Pictures were taken and ... Second team came out and had to undo almost everything the first team installed. They even had to go through the bedroom wall to create a support for the shower that the first team did not install. It took a full week for the second guy to repair all that was done. In the meantime, the new flooring was delivered...and it was the incorrect floor. Another day delay. Wingler finally finished the one (1) week job after 5+ weeks of actual work and 2+ months of waiting for them to begin. Wingler called to apologize, said for our troubles they were sending a gift card for a dinner. We got their survey this week - no gift card. We will not be using them again and will not recommend the Home Depot service.

They took out the tub and put in a walk in shower. I purchased all of the materials. They did not do a good job with my flooring or with the painting. They also put up the shelves and bead board incorrectly. It took them forever to initially come out. The first check I gave them cleared May 31st and the work is still not completed. They were supposed to install a plantation shutter for my window. The first time they came they did not bring a plantation shutter and they wanted to instead cut off the original trim of my home to make a shutter fit as a result. They were supposed to come back out Wed to complete the job but I got a call from them saying they wanted to come by to make sure it was the shutter was correct before scheduling to complete the work. I told them that they needed to come out to complete work and they never showed. They never even had a manager out to review the work.

I have been in the home remodeling industry for over 20 years and was very familiar with Wingler and Son's outstanding reputation. Wingler far exceeded my expectations- price, quality, punctuality and professionalism were all top notch. The best part is Wingler and Sons is a family run business based on old fashioned family values (very refreshing!). Bravo Wingler and Sons for an exceptional roofing job. We will certainly spread the word to all of our family and friends it just doesn't get any better! Wendy Wollett

Glenn, the salesman, worked with us to get the insurance claim approved. I paid $1,000 extra for an added layer of underlayment due to the unevenness in our studs. The old siding had waves. The work started about 3 weeks later than planned but finished a week after it started. There were two days of rain that delayed it more. The siding looks good and the work crew was very helpful and polite.

Quality of workmanship was excellent. Price was high but very fair comparable to similar contracters. Unfortunately, getting someone to call you back was nearly impossible, outside of the owner himself who was very responsive. If all of his foreman's were as dedicated as he is, I would have graded this an A overall. Additionally, one of the workers made a rather significant mess and did nothing to clean up that mess. When reviewed by the foreman, he said and quot;it wipes upand quot; and left my wife to clean up their mess. Overall, it is a mixed review - quality high, responsiveness poor, so I have to give it a C.

We had just started a kitchen remodel of the house I just purchased. After tearing out the cabinets and counters, we discovered that the wall behind the sink, an external wall with a window, was rotted and had been leaking for some time. I chose Wingler and Sons Construction based on a recommendation from my project coordinator at Lowe's and their ratings on Angie's List. I contacted them and explained the time constraint I was under. My new cabinets were being delivered a week later and needed to be installed on time so as not to hold up the rest of the kitchen remodeling schedule, not to mention that every time it rained, water was coming in. Don Wingler himself came out the next morning with another employee. They spent about an hour listening to me, looking at the situation inside and outside - even climbing up on the roof and poking around to get a full sense of the issue. I needed a contractor who could look at the problem from all angles, which is what they did. And just as importantly, they listened carefully to what I had to say and clearly explained everything to me. I had a quote that afternoon, discussed it with my project coordinator and accepted it. They scheduled the work for the following week (working around weather) and sent the same employee (Shawn) who had been out the first time so I didn't have to reexplain anything. They spent a full day repairing the roof flashing and the siding along the dormer above the kitchen window. Repairing and replacing the gutters in that section and re-framing the window. They also spent a lot of time diagnosing the leak using a hose and testing their work afterward with the hose. Don Wingler gave me his cell phone number and we stayed in touch. He followed up with me to make sure everything was to my satisfaction and even sent Shawn back out for some follow-up work and to check on things. The work was done quickly and didn't hold up the cabinet installation. I felt that Don and his company took pride in their work and cared as much to get this problem solved as I did. If not for the work Wingler and Sons did, my kitchen renovation couldn't have proceeded.
Description of Work: I called Wingler to take a comprehensive approach to a leaking wall that we discovered in the course of our kitchen remodeling and that's exactly what they did. Because we couldn't pinpoint the exact location of the leak, Wingler removed and reattached the siding and flashing along the dormer above the leaking wall, replaced and repairs the downspouts and gutters in that section and re-framed the window. All of the work was done in one day and exactly per the quote.
