Chaz did a great job of explaining the process. The process took 3 days to complete, and he let me know each time when they would be here and how long each step would take. They were very careful to tape/plastic the area to minimize the dust from sanding, and did a great job of protecting the adjacent carpet. The results are beautiful and just what I wanted. I am very glad I had this work done, and I'm glad I chose them to do it.

Chaz came got back in touch with me quickly after I called about getting a quote for putting new hardwood over existing, damaged hardwood in my dining room. Once I got the floor I wanted, we set up an installation date. Justin did a great job on the installation. The shoe molding and transition pieces were unfinished, and he matched the stain color to the floor perfectly. The floor is beautiful! The clean-up was great. I can't say enough good things about this experience!

This review is a little overdue bur still well deserving. Chad and his crew laid new hardwood in our dinning room. They did a wonderful job and am having them come back to do more work. Can't say enough good things about this company.

Chaz was very knowledgeable, he spent plenty of time with me discussing the project during the estimate and was the only one of the three Angie's List companies I spoke with that mentioned ripping up shoe molding prior to sanding, and then replacing it afterwards, which I was happy I did. Chaz also had no problem discussing how to repair a couple of damaged areas, and Jessie did a good job matching new wood to the existing. I chose satin finish water-based polyurethane based on Chaz's recommendation as I have pet birds and was concerned about fumes; it looks great and the smell quickly faded. It wasn't the lowest estimate I received, but worth it, with a 5% Angie's List member discount. It did take over a week for Chaz to return my initial call requesting an estimate, but he did return it eventually. They are a small company which is kept very busy due to good reviews here on Angie's List, so expect a bit of a delay. Once I had the estimate and decided to have them do the work they were able to schedule it for the next week, though I'm sure that's not always possible. Excellent communication including daily calls when they would be there and what they would be doing, one of the best contractors I've worked with in that respect. Overall I highly recommend them.

Called every day to let us know arrival time. Cleaned house after work every day. Did an excellent job with a difficult project!

Chaz and his crew are amazing. 1) HIs price is more than fair. He ripped up the carpeting for almost nothing and carted it out to the curb. He removed all the molding along the floors and sanded all the way up to the edge of the wall. He then replaced the molding when they were finished. 2) Their process is fairly clean. Don't get me wrong; it was a sandy process and there was a film everywhere. However, he cleaned it up after they were done and no sand was evident in the first level at all. 3) The floors were done a year ago and still look amazing. The work is superior and the result is lovely. 4) Chaz uses water based sealants. Good for multiple reasons. The smell does not linger as long. The chemicals are far less toxic. And very important to note: Chaz is specially trained in the application of these materials, where are most companies that offer it are not. We did not have to move out of our house, even with a small child. I can recommend Chaz without any reservations. HIs company is top notch and does excellent work.

At the initial estimate Chaz was very reasonable -- he is the one who suggested the non-sanding TyKote approach since he thought the floors were in good shape and didn't need to be sanded. The TyKote is a less expensive solution so he definitely wasn't trying to up-sell us at all! We also were in a pinch because this was a last-minute panic in the middle of a kitchen renovation, and Chaz was able to fit us in very quickly in the time frame we needed. Actually, he was quite flexible because the Friday before they were set to do the work on Monday our contractor asked if it could be pushed back to the end of the week -- and Chaz rearranged things to get it done. The flooring looks great. You can't tell where the patching was done, it looks awesome (and there was some "tricky" patching around/partially under already installed custom cabinets). The "refinishing" looks excellent, the floors are shiny and look very much like the flooring in our dining and living rooms (which is the same flooring as the kitchen, but wasn't in need of refinishing). We would *definitely* contact Chaz again with other wood flooring projects! I cannot compare his estimate to the others we got because all the others were for sanding/refinishing (not the TyKote).

Chaz was thorough and honest in his estimate. They weren't the lowest cost company, but Chaz was professional and answered questions I didn't know I had so I fully understand the process. I felt comfortable with small company and either Chaz or, his partner, Jessie being at the house through the entire install and refinish while my husband and I were at work. Our dryer vent was inadvertently dislodged as they accessed an outlet during the install; when I called the next day, Jessie stopped over that morning and fixed it. Customer service was superb. The actual floor is beautiful. It is exactly what I envisioned; the work was meticulous.

I rarely write reviews but I felt compelled to write one since it was because of the other great feedback for A Unique Hardwood Floor that led me to give them a call after I was unhappy with the job done by a subcontractor hired to re-do the hardwood floors in my house during a remodel. I was in a time crunch as I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel and Chaz returned my call quickly and was able to come out and take a look at the project within a day or two. Thankfully, I was able to get on the schedule, Chaz and his crew had their work cut out for them because they had to re-do the shoddy work done by the subcontractor. The floors were over sanded in spots leaving uneven areas and uneven stain, they really looked terrible. Chaz assured me that they would be able to make the floors look way better. I felt confident in hiring them and am SO glad I did. Chaz and his crew did an AMAZING job, and it is unbelievable to see the difference in the floors after they had looked so terrible a week prior. The final result exceeded my expectations; the color is beautiful, the finish is beautiful, and I am 100% satisfied with their work. In addition, Chaz was very professional and punctual and kept me updated during the project. I would absolutely use them again in the future and would recommend them to others without hesitation.

We bought an older house, built in 1959. The floors had not been taken care and over the years the ware was evident. We decided to have our hardwood floors refinished. Chaz (owner) took the time to explain the procedure in detail. His knowledge and experience far outweighed his age. After examining the problems with the floor he explained the solution. We felt totally comfortable. They arrived on time; the work was completed on time and below budget. In conclusion, I do not normally give accolades to many people but I highly recommend him, his company and crew. The mistake will be yours if you don?t contact him.

We got several estimates that said our floor was too thin to be sanded. Chaz said it could be done, and he did an excellent job. He was not the cheapest estimate (actually his was the most expensive, though not by much), but he was worth it.

They did a great job! I called with a small window of time to do the work because another company backed out after committing to the job. They were able to work me into the schedule. I met them at the house and gave them a key. I went on vacation and when I came back, the floors looked great! They left the key in the house and sent me an invoice. I have another house with hardwood floors and if I need to have any work done, they will be the first company I call.

Wow! So pleased with Chaz, Jesse and Mike. When the work began they stayed on schedule and kept me informed along the way including when they would be working on my floors, when I could walk on them, etc. They were very professional and the cleanup was great. I came home from work after they finished and there was no sign they were there other than the beautiful new floors. I would recommend Unique Hardwood Flooring to anyone and would definitely use them again.

Chaz and his team are amazing - the floors are gorgeous, they were able to repair an area that was stained - so that if you never knew it was done, you'd never be able to find it. They sanded and refinished the floors - they ran into subfloor issues in the kitchen and entry way, including a half bath and were able to come up with several reasonable solutions to the problem. They worked extremely hard and the floors are absolutely beyond what we could have hoped for. These guys are extremely busy, and with good reason. As their business expands, they will continue to provide the highest quality services - maybe a little hard to get ahold of, due to their jam packed schedules, but they will get back to you - give them a few days. They were here on the day we agreed to start and even though they ran into delays, they still finished within 2 days of their original estimate. Very impressive. If you're looking for the best, go with Chaz and his team.

I was very pleased with the entire process. Chaz was great at letting me know what they were planning to do each day, when they would arrive, and called me prior to arriving each day. I was able to walk on the floors each night after they finished, and that was a big plus. Chaz seemed very well organized and was always very professional. Although he was always busy and seemed on a tight schedule, he adequately answered all my questions each day. The floors look great, and although the process was something I wouldn't want to go through often, I feel I made a good choice with this company.

Chaz did a great job for us. He knows what he's doing (very competent) and courteous. He went beyond the requirements and put in shoe molding in a connecting hallway where it was lacking (even though he was not redoing the hallway floor). He was especially good about explaining the things we should do to allow the drying process to go smoothly. (We have 7 cats so that could have been an issue!) Everything looks great.

I am renovating my kitchen which includes knocking down a wall between the kitchen and dining room and installing hardwood that would match the rest of the house (entire first floor) which is 50 years old . This required having the entire floor refinished (sanded, stained, etc.). After researching companies and reading all the reviews on Angie's List, I really wanted Unique Hardwood Floors to do the work. I left a message and Chaz called me the next day. I was surprised and disappointed to hear that he was completely booked for 2 months. Chaz did send one of his employees to measure my house just in case he had a delay or cancellation but to wait for 2 months would delay the kitchen renovations so I reluctantly called other rated companies. I contacted 11 other companies and only 1 of them returned my call. This company was also tightly scheduled and said they would email me with an approximate date (never heard from them). I was impatient to keep the renovations on schedule so I hired a company through a referral from a friend.. HUGE MISTAKE. I moved out of the house for several nights so the work could be performed and when I returned that Friday evening I was shocked and upset. My floors were ruined. The sanding was horrible - uneven with waves and craters where it looked like an orbital sander was just left running unattended at different places throughout the house. The stain was uneven and had pooled in the uneven sanding - it had been applied so sloppily it was splashed against molding and walls and staircase railings. The polyurethane top coat was a mess - pools and bubbles (and it was the wrong type) - it was terrible. I was sure I was going to have to replace an entire floor of hardwood. I called Chaz in a panic and left a message that Friday night and he returned my call first thing Saturday morning but he was now booked even further into the future. He was very kind (I was distraught) and he even referred me to another company (I called them but it was a Saturday and the office was closed). About an hour later Chaz called me back and he had found a way to fit me in between his other jobs. I am so grateful. When Chaz arrived he was appalled at the damage but assured me the floor could be fixed and didn't need to be replaced. Chaz then worked every day for over a week straight (yes, Saturday and Sunday, early morning and late evenings included) and the result is remarkable. My floors are beautiful and you would never know they had been completely ruined - they look amazing . Chaz is a miracle worker. He is fantastic, highly skilled and really cares about his clients, He kept me informed the entire time and made sure I understood how to take care of the floors and gave me lots of advice in terms of when and how to move furniture into the rooms, etc. If you are looking for a hardwood floor professional - do not call anyone else. Be patient - he is worth the wait!

He was very knowledgeable, responsive and organized. He was fair and prompt. We did not go with him because he used water-based finish and we need oil-based.

The guys did a great job considering how wavy and irregular my subfloor is. The finished product looks beautiful. Chaz was very helpful throughout the whole process and took the time to talk through options and to manage my expectations. Definitely a job well done!

He worked with me to get exactly what we wanted and was very helpful explaining the entire process. Once the work began, his team (Jesse and Mike) completed most of the work. Both guys were excellent to work with. Professional. Clean. Friendly. They did a great job with the demo, keeping dust and debris to a minimum. Their installation looks exceptional and the timeliness for completion was quick too. I highly recommend These guys!

I had prefinished hardwood floors that were extremely faded, bleached out, scratched and even peeling. I contacted Chaz, the owner, by email about coming to my house and giving me a quote. Chaz replied within two days and set up a date for a quote. He responded on time and took measurements of the area on my first floor with wood floors which included: entry way, two hallways, dinette, and kitchen. He told me that he would send an email with a quote within 24 hours. Chaz sent a quote by email that afternoon and stated that he could start the job in two weeks. I replied and told him that I wanted go with his company and scheduled the job. Chaz continually kept in contact on the phone to inform me when he was going to arrive in the morning and always showed up on time. Chaz and his employee arrived the first day and spent time hanging plastic tarps to block off areas in my home to minimize dust from carrying into rooms that were not being sanded. This is a dusty job, so their attention to detail during this phase dramatically reduced our cleaning at the end of the process. Chaz worked extremely hard and took short lunch breaks everyday. The whole process took four days and we were able to walk on the floors with our socks an hour after the final coat of polyurethane was applied. Every night during the process we were able to walk downstairs with our socks on, so we were never overly inconvenienced. The results were spectacular. Our floors look terrific and they should stand the test of time well compared to the prefinished hardwood floors that were sanded down. Chaz's quick response time, professionalism, great communication, hard work and terrific results made this a great experience. I recommend A Unique Hardwood Floor to anyone thinking about hiring a wood floor installer/ refinisher.

Chaz told me to pick out what I wanted at Panel Town when he called to set up the appointment/estimate. That worked out well because when he came to our house (on time I might add :)) I had some samples to discuss with him. With his expertise I was able to easily select the best wood for my dining room to achieve the look I was after. When I received his estimate the next day I called and we set a date for the work. It was so easy! Jesse and Mike were the workers that came out. They were friendly and knowledgeable. I left to go to work and came home to a FANTASTIC floor! Now we are trying to decide what other rooms we would like to do! I would recommend this company highly. Call them first and you won't need to call anyone else :)
