Took Angie's list up on Big Deal for chimney cleaning. Made an appointment the week of the offer. The receptionist stated there were a lot of requests and gave us a time . The tech ( Rocky) came within the appointed time. He was very pleasant. He inspected the brick on the outside of the chimney before he began. I had several questions about our gas fireplace which he was able to answer. I was slightly disappointed in that he didn't clean the logs in the fireplace just the chimney. He did make a recommendation that we put a stopper clamp for the flue. He did not have this with him. He did answer my questions on the longivity of the logs. We also asked for an estimate on patching some brick motar that has come loose. All in all he did a nice job.

It went very smoothly. We didn't know what to expect but it was a piece of cake thanks to Mike.

No work done. No response from company.

All of this was repaired, replaced and the brick color matched perfectly so that even though I watched the work being done, I can't point out the specific bricks now. They included a free chimney cleaning and video inspection at the same time. It took 2 men a solid day to complete the work and they did an excellent job of cleaning up afterward.

This is a very good contractor for chimney services. We have used this company for several years. They have over the years repaired the chimney, sealed the outside of the chimney (cultured stone) and swept the chimney annually. They do not oversell their services, I asked this year if we needed to reseal the chimney - and was told no, not yet. I find their professionalism and punctuality refreshing. I already made an appointment for next season's sweep.

They came when they said they would. The estimate that I needed was very prompt. They cleaned up after themselves very well. They were the first one I got out of 7 estimates and they were the most reasonable priced for the job that needed to be done. Since I am an Angie's List member I also received a 10% discount!

The guy was right on time to perform the work. He did a great job and cleaned up after his work. He gave me a recommendation on some work that i may need down the road.

Contacted DM Thompson is December for a quote. They responded within a few days as promised and recommended that repairs wait until spring. Scheduled repair in mid March. Because of weather problems they had to reschedule. Work was done in quality fashion on the day agreed to. From the initial contact to job completion they were responsive and professional.

We were very pleased with them; the estimate was right on the money. They were very prompt and cleaned up after themselves beautifully. This was a dirty job and after they left I did not have to do a thing; you wouldn?t even know they had been here. They explained everything they were going to do and how to use the new fireplace. They were plain nice guys

I liked the guy that came to do the work. Their price was better than the other people. He had done work in other houses in my street, so I knew that he does decent work. They were very responsive.

These guys are the best. For fireplace cleaning, they do the whole routine - clean from inside the house, up the chimney, and then get a ladder, go to the top of the chimney and clean from the top down. They also use the camera to make sure everything is fine on the inside, etc. They keep track of previous year's records so they know what to look for the next year. And the fireplace cleaning prices are competitive or lower than others. They have also done many masonry repairs (I have an older brick house). The last one they did was a complete top to bottom inspection and tuck point of the entire building. They matched the color of my mortar carefully and didn't miss a single brick. I have tried, but cannot find a single spot they missed. They gave me much more than I was expecting, I could not be happier with the work. I am now certain that my walls are water-tight, and safe from erosion on the inside. They have also done other jobs, e.g. coated the inside of my fireplace and chimney with materials to fill cracks, which has worked out great. In terms of their personalities and professionalism, they are friendly, prompt, flexible and experts in what they do. I have no reason to look anywhere else.

The two person crew was very professional from the start. They came in and covered floor and furniture. They then cleaned the chimney and did a visual inspection. Everything checked out fine. I would definitely hire this company again.

Went fairly well. Had to call them back to put the caulk on the cracks, they hadn't done this at all. Then when Dave, came out to put the caulk on he noted that the workers hadn't completed a step to the chimney lip. One thing was very unfair, is that I forgot to ask for his coupon of 10% off untill after most of the work was completed, but he wouldn't honor the discount, told me that he said will honor only if submitted at the time of the initial order. This was the 10 % coupon that was in the Angies List magazine. Will probably not use them in the future d/t the poor handling of honoring the 10 % discount and forgetting to do steps to the work order.

Mike cleaned the chimney and the gas logs, which had a lot of soot on them. He also pointed out that the safety stop on the flue was missing.

Very well. After they cleaned my chimney, the first time I made a fire I noticed smoked coming into my house. I contacted them to see if possibly debris was left behind that might have been blocking the flue. The responded the next day, came back to my house that week, and recleaned the chimney and told me to call them if I had any problems. I used the fireplace again and had no problems. I really appreciated their customer service and that they didn't charge me for their second visit!

The are the only company that gave me a written and detailed estimate. They are the only company that informed us on the less mundane technical matters. I was impressed by the guy who came out and gave the estimate.

The workers arrived on time and finished the work in seven hours. $2450 is too much money for seven hours of work. The work does not look that great. I don't like that the step flashing is not pressed against the chimney. The workers smoked on my house and discarded their cigarette butts on the roof and on the ground. The cigarette butts from the roof came out the downspout when it rained. I think it is rude for workers to be smoking on a client's house and littering on the client's property. A couple of days after the work was done, it rained and rainwater leaked inside the house and garage at all three chimneys. I had not yet paid DM Thompson for their work. DM Thompson was phoned and a couple of workers came out to fix the leaks. That was also the day that I paid for the work. A couple of days later it rained again and rainwater came in through one of the chimneys that is on the house. I phoned DM Thompson and was told that someone would come out on July 2. A couple of days later DM Thompson phoned me and left a message rescheduling the appointment the following week on either Tuesday or Thursday, July 6th or 8th. I returned DM Thompson's call and left a message that either Tuesday or Thursday would be fine. DM Thompson phoned me that week and rescheduled the appointment for Sunday July11. I confirmed the July 11th appointment. On July 11th, no workers showed up at my home. Last week I had a roofer go up on my roof where the leaking chimney is and I will probably hire him to find the cause of the leaking and ask him to fix it.

They were excellent. They were efficient, wasted no time, and cleaned up beautifully. I just could not say enough positive things about them. The price was good too as I checked with other companies.

My experience was not very good. I had another company come out about a month ago and took a look at my chimney. This company stated that it is leaking from the cap and doesn't look like it is installed completely. When it rains, I hear dripping in the chimney.

Real easy to contact and work with and they were very responsive. Quote came back quickly and was well documented in a clear and descriptive way. But the price was twice was 2 other companies came back with, so I didn't use them for the job.

Great - the guys were very nice - prompt and clean. They got the job in one day - no hassles. Would hire again.

Dave arrived on schedule, provided a detailed estimate and answered all of my questions. He was very professional and I was very pleased with the service call. In the end, I decided to use another company based on a personal recommendation. However, I would not hesitate to contact Dave again.

They were a half-hour late for their appointment. After stopping by to inspect the job, they said that they couldn't provide an estimate and needed to speak to their boss. They then left.

They were not very punctual and the person answering the phone was extremely rude and snippy. I would not recommend them.

We relied soley on D. M. Thompson Masonry Restoration due to the positive ratings on Angies list. On October 7, 2009, we were given the estimate and the work was completed on October 16, 2009. They arrived on time and were thorough in their work including cleaning the entire area. The chimney and chimney cap looks great.
