Very professional and clean. Great job

It was terrible. They refused to do their chimney cleaning; they said it was too dirty. They didn't do anything. Maybe it was too much work for them because we have a wood burner and they have to slide the wood burner out to get to the chimney. I called the Standard Chimney Cleaner back and they did it with no problem at all.

They cleaned my chimney and told me I needed some more work done. The price was good for what they did but I felt like they were trying to sell me something.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was fine. They did what they were supposed to do and got out. I think they cleaned up after themselves and I don't recall him leaving a huge mess.

It was fine. He did the service and off he went. I do not remember what the price was exactly. There was not anything bad that happened with it and there were no additional charges. There were not any additional things that I ended up paying for. This was the first time that I used him. He was professional and he explained what he was going to do before he did it. He completed everything satisfactorily and he did not leave a mess behind. He cleaned up after himself and he showed up on time.

We called and left messages 3 times on 3 days. We haven't received a call back and they haven't answered.

It was good. They contacted me to schedule right away. It's hard for me to see exactly what they did but I trust they did what I paid for. They were quick.

Did not go at all. One email via Angie's List website, no other answer from provider despite of one email and 6 phone calls. Never was able to speak with anybody from the provider.

The only concern I had was that they rescheduled my visit on the same day they were supposed to come, but they accommodated to my schedule to do so.

Chose this company based on Angie's List ratings and used a coupon from Angie's List to have the chimney cleaned and inspected for $189. I left a message and they called back the same day to schedule an appointment. They called half an hour before arriving (they gave me a four-hour window originally, so it was nice to have some notice before the sweep showed up). He was polite and professional, and was in and out in less than an hour.

The appointment was easy to set up and Mike arrived after a call-ahead and during the arrival window. He was very professional and personable. He put down blankets on the carpet for protection and left everything as it was when he arrived. He was not able to use his camera to inspect the chimney, but he assured me that he could see all of the necessary areas by looking up the chimney and that they all looked good. He vacuumed it out and briefly discussed the workings of the gas fireplace with me since I had not yet used it after purchasing the home. He completed an external assessment and provided me with a written description of his inspection and the external items he suggested having repaired, along with a quote for the repairs. I only gave a rating less than A for price (a B) because it seems a little steep for the amount of time it took - but maybe Mike was just too good/efficient or I was too naïve in thinking my chimney would require more effort (it hadn't been used for 10 years by the previous owners). Overall, I'm satisfied with the company and would work with them again.

called within 2 days of service purchase. Scheduled sweep. Arrived on time. Performed service in a professional manner. I will use service provider again.

They were scheduled to do the job on Tuesday the 12th and I called them on the 11th to confirm the appointment. During the duration of this job, I probably called them 8 times, and they never answered the phone, I had to leave a message everytime.They called me back on Tuesday morning and told me that they had two or three jobs before mine and would be over around 2PM. At 2PM, they called and said the truck broke down and that I would have to reschedule. The ealiest date was a week later. I asked to be the first job on that day. I called them on Monday to confirm they were still coming and they did not call me back. They did call me on the scheduled day at 9:00AM and told me they would be at my home at 10:00AM. They did arrive at 10:00AM. They did the sweep and inspection but they never pulled the insert out to inspect the firebox or the back of the insert? I asked them to make sure the stove insert was connected properly to the flue liner and he said it was connected, he could see that from the roof, I am guessing he did a video inspection but he did not show me anything? Other companies that I have used have done a more thorough inspection and cleaning.

Mike did a great job. He also provided guidance on how often I needed to clean my fireplaces, especially the one with gas logs. This review is two years old, but apparently the statute of limitations on reviews does not expire.

Another chimney sweep company advised us that our chimney/fireplace had substantial water damage, and they did not do the type of repairs it might need. I contacted D M Thompson for an evaluation and to see what our options were. I had to leave a message but our call was returned promptly and Dave came out to investigate. He noted that we did, indeed have damage and it couldn't safely be repaired. A full re-build would be far to expensive, so he suggested capping it off and putting in a gas log insert. I investigated this, but couldn't find a way to get a gas line in, so went with an electric insert. That's when I re-contacted D M Thompson about capping off the chimney. There was some poor communication at this point, with a missed appointment and no phone call, but they apologized and gave us a quote by phone. It was a little high, but with our Angie's List 10% discount, it was acceptable. They mailed a proposal and I sent a check for 1/3 of the cost. Within about a week, the cap was in place, and my husband gave them a check for the balance. We were not given an invoice or receipt at this time. I discovered that I had inadvertently included my copy of the proposal when I mailed the deposit to them, so I realized I now had nothing in writing showing the work that was done, or a receipt. Since we will have to disclose the unusable chimney when we eventually sell the house, I called and left a message asking if they could send me an invoice or receipt. I waited a week and never got a response, so I emailed them with the same request. Again, no response. I have no complaints about their work and they seem to be a reliable company, but their failure to respond to a simple request after the work was finished left me a little baffled. For this reason I couldn't bring myself to give them an A rating.

Great service, punctual, short, sweet, simple, and to the point. Would refer and use again.

I would use this company for a chimney sweep if I had a fireplace.

Left several messages to start the process of setting up a visit to quote for repair at our home in Licking County . Provider did not call back. We called again the next day only to find out they would not come to Licking County. "It's too far," they said, When we asked why their ad says they service Licking County, they said they didn't know but it was too far. Wow...do not expect service in Licking County from this provider.

I had a 12-4 arrival time, and he was actually early. Showed up just a little after 11, and asked if it was ok if he was early...it was great, one less waiting around all day appointment. He was very efficient and did a good job keeping our house clean. He inspected both fireplaces and gave me an estimate on some minor repairs needed. He explained everything to me including how to use the gas starter with our fireplace. He even left me a pamplet on the types of wood to use, which since I have only had gas fireplaces previously, this was very helpful.

They did a great job. They were clean, reasonably priced, and efficient.

Mike showed up on time and started work right away. He provided a thorough cleaning and inspection. Very knowledgeable about fireplaces. I'd use them again as I trust their work.
