I got them from Angie’s List, and everybody else gave them an A and that is why I used them, and they were right. They did an excellent job. They were on time, professional, cleaned up, and did everything I asked them to do. They did the work as I expected them to do. I got what I paid for. It took them about three to four weeks to complete the work. It was two-and-a-half car garage; detached garage, concrete floor, fully insulated garage door with first-class garage opener, a window and a door other than the garage door and exit door. It was 22’ x 26’ in dimension. They were great to work with. The owner is the one, who came out and gave me the estimate, and he is a contractor, so I may use them again if I have to put new windows in my house and things like that.

We had 4 contractors (all highly rated on Angie's List) come out to bid on the project. Two of them said they could rehab the structure. One said it wasn't possible and I would have to tear down and rebuild from scratch. The last one never got back to me. Of the two that said they could rehab the garage, The Garage Gurus quote was substantially less than the other bid. In addition Shawn of The Garage Gurus was extremely knowledgeable and really listened to what I was trying to do with the garage. He did not try to oversell me, but kept my budget in mind. He had ideas on how to do a lot of what I wanted to do, when other contractors didn't seem to have the same depth of knowledge about garages. Shawn provided a quote within a week or so. We were under tight time constraints, and because of the time of the year, he was able to start the job within about a week or two of getting him the deposit. His team worked fast and the bulk of the work was done in about 3 weeks (in the middle of winter.) There were some smaller items that needed to wait until I had the garage painted. Throughout the project, Shawn was available to answer questions. Even after the quote was signed, I wanted to make a small change, which was not a problem. The workers were friendly. Shawn was responsive to my concerns as the project progressed. The quality of the work was very high. We are very happy with our new garage. What used to be a large, very wet shed, is now a garage that can fit 1 car, all of our outdoor equipment, and retained the 1920's look and feel. We feel we got more than our money's worth, and would work with Shawn again in the future.

It was a very good experience. He was very knowledgeable and accommodating. He broke it down for me in two stages, which is more cost efficient for me.

Everyone was awesome to work with! All of the contractors and crews did a superb job. We could not be more pleased. We have recommended Shawn and the Garage Gurus to a number of people looking for contractors to do work. We were totally comfortable with everyone throughout the entire process....they made it as painless as possible. Have received many kudos from neighbors and strangers on the work done. Would recommedn without reservation.

I was very pleased with them. They came right out and did the job for me. They addressed all my questions and concerns. The very day I agreed to have them do the job, they were able to come and begin work. They did the job as fast as possible.

I only received an estimate from the Garage Guru's. Their quote was out of my price range. They were professional and polite when they came out. I decided to tackle other projects before I redo the garage. I've seen their work and looks like they do an excellent job.

The owner is a very curtious guy. He showed up when he said he would show up, he was never unprofessional. His estimate was actually spot on. Due to city variances, we had the plan altered and it negatively impacted the job so it actually made it cheaper than the estimate because we had to make a smaller garage. That wasn't the companies fault though. They handled all of the permit work and working to make sure the plan was approved. It was just a great experience. The garage is fantastic, the quality was very high. Most of the people were employees of them so very few things were subbed out except for the electricity. I was able to talk to some of the guys and even the people that worked for him had good things to say about the owner and his company. I would have no reservations about recommending him to anyone. We had 3 estimates and they were the cheapest but we also had the most faith in them. You can call him or send him an email and he is very responsive. When he said he would be there, he will be there. One time he called before when he was late and that was just because he was stuck in traffic. Everyone from the owner to the people doing the work were very professional. They were good guys to talk too. If people are in your house I like to at least get to know the people doing the work.

Overall, the project went well. It was a length process since a zoning variance was required from the City of Dublin. The difficulties emerged during the process was understanding the actual grade variations and city inspection issues that ended up impacted the cost. I agreed and paid the cost increases. However, from a contract standpoint, I do not feel is was obligated to do so. My advice is to agree on all the contingencies and fully quote the exact services you are seeking in detail.

I have nothing to complain about, and not one bad thing bad to say, not about Shawn, nor about any of his subcontractors. Regarding the quality of the job, two different individuals, both of whom claimed to know what they were talking about, remarked that the work being done exceeded what one would usually expect. Based upon my experience, I can wholeheartedly recommend Shawn without reservation.

The estimate was reasonable and in line with other estimates. We decided not to do the job. I really liked them and would definitely use them if we decide to do the work. He was very prompt and his communication was good.

The entire process, from making the appointment for an estimate to the completion of the project was a positive experience. Shawn is a true professional, patiently asking questions and listening to my ideas, before developing a truly top notch plan. Cameron, the construction lead, and Bob were a delight to work with?they did not mind if I ?helped? by handing them materials or tools when needed. The entire process took about 8 days, from digging holes for the posts through the installation of the rubber roofing to the final inspection. The resultant carport cover looks like it belongs with all of the lines smoothly flowing from the existing garage. Thanks Garage Gurus for a great experience.

Everything went as expected and quick.

Nothing happened. No response. Too busy for the professional courtesy of even a phone call. Perhaps if he is so very busy, he should hire a secretary and/or an additional estimator?

They were the only company that seemed to know what they were doing when we talked to them, They came out and discussed what we wanted and promptly got us quote. No one else that came out even bothered to send us a quote. The work started after a few weeks because they already had someone ahead of us. Once they got started there was someone there working every weekday until the job was finished. Everything looked wonderful and it was finished in only a few weeks, with no delays or excuses. I have recomended this company to anyone that says they are thinking about building or remodeling their garage. If you use this company it will be the most pain-free construction experience you will ever have.

From the beginning of the project, Shawn (owner of Garage Gurus), was extremely professional, worked with us to understand our objectives and zero in on the best solution for our garage situation. As described above the project was the renovation of a car and a half, cinder block, detached garage that looked nothing like our house and was beginning to show cracks in the walls. It had basically become a large shed. Shawn recommended replacing the roof, adding courses of block, siding to match the house and with the addition of electrical service, create a reasonably sized second floor storage area. All of Shawn's sub contractors shared his professionalism, punctuality, communication and seemed to really want to do a good job for us. The project is now complete and the garage looks better than we could have ever anticipated. We have a functional garage for our car, new storage space that is very important to us and a visual compliment to our house. I would highly recommend Shawn's company to anyone looking at a similar project. Outstanding!

Shawn was very professional in his approach. I had very specific requirements for the garage; he listened to what I wanted and did the job in a timely manner. All the people that worked for him were very nice. They also did an excellent job of improving the drainage in the driveway and restoring the landscaping and patio. I am very pleased with the result and would recommend the Garage Gurus to anyone.

He was very responsive in returning our calls, showing up for scheduled appointments, and providing us with a quote and updates to the quote. He adjusted his quote effectively based on new information as we modified our plans. We did not end up going with him, but he was right there in the running.

We had a very good experience with Sean and his contractors. Although the work took longer than expected, his contractors worked hard throughout the bitter cold winter months to get our garage built. Pricing was competitive with other vendors but in the end we selected Garage Gurus based on the fact that they listened to our concerns about space and made suggestions to fit our needs (for example, we have a very narrow driveway and entry area, so Sean suggested a wider door to make entry easier) and were able to start the project sooner than other vendors. Additionally, unlike some other contractors we talked to, Sean was easy to get in touch with via phone or email. Finally, when changes to the original plans resulted in slightly higher costs (due to electrical code issues and small design changes on our part), Sean was very good about communicating the difference. Overall, we are very pleased with our experience and thrilled with our new garage.

We got off to a slow start as the plans had to be changed a couple of times per code. The demo/framing crew was extremely quick and efficient, as was the plumber/electrician/ & HVAC guy. My only complaint was with the sub that did the tile. His work was a bit shoddy, as well as slow. But Shawn and his brother Cameron did a great job fixing the grout lines the tile guy did so poorly on. Shawn said he will not be hiring that guy again! His estimate was pretty much right on. It was a bit higher due to some things I added and the addition of smoke detectors and a scald valve that had to be added. These guys are also incredibly friendly and easy to get along with. Cameron was very patient with my 5 year old son when he wanted to "help". Also there were times when they went above and beyond the call of duty. For example, my furnace broke down on December. I called Shawn to get the name of his HVAC guy. Shawn came over at 9pm to see if he could get it working!! And when Cameron finished painting I came home to find the he had cleaned the tub/sinks and had put away the towels/accessories I had bought (which I had piled into the tub) neatly on the shelves in the walk in closet! Here in the last week, a leak developed that was dripping into the downstairs bath. Shawn was incredibly responsive...Was out the next day(monday). Within 2 days the leak was found and fixed and within a week the ceiling in the downstairs bath was fixed as well. This was a great demonstration of how they stand behind their work.

They came when they said they would come, did what they said they would do, and cleaned everything up well. Their prices were much less than the other estimate I got. The head of the company came afterward to make sure everything went well and it did. I was very happy with them.

Shawn McNeil, the owner worked tirelessly to meet our needs. He successfully obtained a variance in order to get us the size garage that we wanted. This was a long, arduous process before any building began, and Shawn was on top of it every step of the way! Shawn and his architect made sure that our design was architecturally matching to our size, style, and age of house. They didn't balk at a single request for additional details and/or modifications. We had plenty of special requests. All our needs were met with a positive and "can do" attitude. Shawn employs people that he has known all his life. Not questionable individuals like some other builders choose. Shawn's staff was extremely courteous and respectful of me, my family, my home, and property. The quality of their work is outstanding. They did not cut any corners. I watched their framer Courtney tear off our entire roof, because he though one board looked "a little off." They took the time to build our garage the right way, and it shows. Cameron, Shawn's brother has spent more hours on our house than he probably ever wanted to. Never a single complaint. Just a smart, hard working individual who took pride in his job and our project, it shows. We thank them all for their collaborative efforts, and lovely finished project. This was a larger than average job and I am thrilled that Garage Gurus was our builder! I recommend The Garage Gurus, specifically Shawn McNeil any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Contractor was very responsive, sent out a builder to provide an estimate quickly, and responded to all questions promptly. The bid was highly competitive. We elected to go with another builder who in our judgment had greater experience in the neighborhood, but if they were not available we would have chosen this company.

This contractor submitted one of the lowest bids, and provided references who raved about their work. Since then they have met all of our expectations. The project took about three months to complete. Shawn has been very accessible and responsive. All of our special requests have been promptly and cheerfully accommodated. His subcontractors were all hard-working and conscientious. The framers worked past dark on most days. They did a great job of clean-up afterward. We are very happy with the results and would recommend Garage Gurus to anyone.
