Description of Work: We went in to purchase a Toro zero turn mower because they had a sale going on. The Toro company website indicated that Staders is open until 9 p.m. We showed up at 6:45 p.m. and the lady who greeted us said they were closing in 15 minutes, not may I help you, just we're closing. I showed her the store information from the Toro website and her response was pretty indifferent and that they've always closed at 7 p.m. I asked about their Toro mowers, she pointed me in the direction and then walked off. We saw what they had and they had the Z5035 Toro mower on sale with free assembly and delivery. We finally flagged the lady down and said we wanted the mower. I asked if they had the leaf/grass catcher attachment. She said she didn't know, nobody answered her page so she said I would have to call in the morning (which I did). We checked out and were told that someone would contact me to set up delivery. I called the following day and was informed that they had the attachment on hand, so I purchased it over the phone. I asked about delivery and was told that the person (a woman) who schedules delivery would be out that day and the next. I waited to call until today and was told that someone else (a man) schedules deliveries and that today is his day off. I called back to the equipment shop hoping to leave a voicemail message and they transfered my call and the phone just rang off the hook. They've got my money, but I don't have a clue when I'm going to get the mower delivered and apparently everyone is more interested in time off and closing the store up in the evenings than making a $3,600 sale.

Description of Work: Repair and tune up for snow thrower

Description of Work: The garden part of Strader's Garden Center is high quality & very reliable. The lawnmower repair center is a different situation. We took a cultivator to their repair center, and upon bringing it in, they said that because of the difficult starting, it probably needed a carburetor repair kit. Upon checking back a couple of weeks later, they then said that the carbutetor could not be rebuilt, and then an entire carburetor assembly was needed, and that would cost $100 + labor.. When we inquired to the reasons for why there was a change of diagnosis, they explained it very poorly with ill articulation. Upon further questions of clarification, the guy said "why are you questioning my honesty?". That was never a question, but since he put it on the table, the statement sounded VERY defensive, and raised immediate suspicion. Further clarification brought on the repair chief, who ended up saying the same thing. Then they said, if I didn't like it, we could get the cultivator back, along with the bag of carburetor parts, for $29.95. They never even bothered to reassemble the carburetor and put it back into the machine. Then with the cultivator, and bag of carburetor parts, we ransomed the machine back. During this process they could not document their supposed findings. They flubbed about and stonewalled all the way through. The more they talked, the more one got the impression that they were trying to cover up the fact that they really could not tell what was wrong with the machine. One also got the distinct impression that they could not reassemble the carburetor, and hence they put the parts into a bag to pressure the customer into spending the big sum for the new carburetor + labor. This sort of outcome is too frequent in the repair industry. Hence, we are reporting our experiences to you to share with interested potential coustmers. To say again, the garden part of Straders Garden Center is of high quality and very dependable.
