Stable Struct

We paid Ragavan for a structure engineer service over a year ago. Till date, we still don't have the complete plans

He quoted me $1900. I thought he was very high for a drawing for 3 walls. Roof and foundation to floor is existing. Went to another firm. They quoted me $400

We had a tight deadline to meet for the home and he was able to efficiently check the structural integrity of the home. I wish I could give a positive review of this company but I can't. I called to get a quote on what it would cost for a structural engineer to look at a house I am renovating for someone. I was told it would cost $250 for him to come out and give me his opinion. I was also told that if he wrote a summary report it would cost an additional $100 for a total of $350. I told him on the phone I just wanted his opinion and didn't need a report. A guy named Ragavan met me and we spent about 45 minutes looking at the project. We looked in the basement, inside the house, and outside the house. He gave me his opinion on how to proceed with the project. One of his suggestions was to anchor an exterior brick wall to 2 by 4 wall studs in the house. He also advised me to attach some temporary boards to the floor joists using metal clips until the work is completed. I asked him if he could send me a link for these clips so I could buy them and he said he would. After our meeting I then wanted to pay him but was told I would get a bill via email. Several days later I received a bill for $350! I immediately wrote back and told him I was quoted $250 for an opinion only. I also had come to realize that that the advice I had been given, to attach the exterior brick wall to 2 by 4 wall studs was not good advice at all since in this house there are no wall studs since it is a brick house! I also brought this to his attention. He told me he had made a mistake and sent me a new bill for $250. Regarding the advice about the 2 by 4's he asked me to call him so he could offer new advice. I asked if we could meet somewhere instead since I find it very hard to understand Ragavan because of his accent. He agreed and met me at the house again. He looked at the house again and came to the conclusion that this was a project that he was not interested in being involved with. He then told me he would refer me to another engineer. Since he was backing out of the project and since I am now going to have to consult with another engineer, and since his advice about the 2 by 4's was impossible to put into practice I asked him about his fee and he told me he would not charge me. I told him I needed to talk to this new engineer asap. I also asked him again if he could email me the link for the clips he told me I needed to use and he said he would. That was the last I heard from him. It's been over a week and I've emailed him once or twice to let him know I need the referral and the link but he has failed to contact me at all. So for me contacting this company was a complete waste of time. I also think it is very unprofessional for an engineer to tell someone they are going to refer someone and then just not do it...

Stable Struct inspected the structure of a house we were purchasing, gave good information, and advised us of work needed to be done. Actually saved us some money as we were able to get the seller to get the job completed. Thanks Stable Struct!

In person inspection on may 1, with payment that day. Report was supposed to be sent by May 15. On June 16, the report was repromised on June 21. As in July 20, I still have no report. So, it seems that the inspection is fine, but if you want a written report that is supposedly included, it might not come.

Ragavan met me out at an old brick home I am purchasing on short notice to provide a structural inspection and report. He was punctual, thorough, and professional. I received a detailed report of all items that needed to be remedied, with pictures and written descriptions. He did mention if I needed stamped engineering drawings and plans, it would cost extra for each item, though. These were not needed for this project as of yet. I feel comfortable with the specifications in his initial report and inspection to have the work performed by another contractor.
