+ -1 moreThe old furnace had to be shut off because of the problem. My elderly mother lives with me and had strokes, so needed a furnace immediately. Jamie came out that morning, and by afternoon we had a new working furnace. It was located in a space that made it very difficult. They were patient, and worked continuously until it was installed. I have used Sears Heating & Cooling for several years. They performed seasonal check-ups on both A/C and furnace. The technicians come when promised, and don't leave until they are satisfied everything is working to their satisfaction.
Description of Work: New furnace installed. It is in an small crawl space, and they provided the size, etc. furnace needed.

Description of Work: My furnace wasn't working properly and I had Sears out over the weekend (2 wks ago) and so the charge was higher for weekend rates $129. They checked it out and said it appeared to be working fine and looks like it was installed wrong by Atlas Butler, which I was aware. They left and it still was only heating up to 57 and then shutting off so I called them back. I had no charge this time except for the part to fix it. Also, got an estimate for central air.

+ -1 moreMy overall experience with sears heating and cooling was good. As I stated earlier, I felt the price was a little high, but I guess you pay more for quality service and honest people. I would recommend sears heating and cooling to others, based on both my experience with them, and on the fact that I felt they were honest, which is rare and very important when having work done on your home.
Description of Work: I called sears heating and cooling for an estimate on replacing my home's central a/c unit. They quoted me a price of 3600.00, which I felt was a bit pricey. I called another local company and was given a lower estimate, but after speaking with both sears and the other company, I felt more comfortable with sears despite the higher price. Dave, the sales rep, seemed more knowledgable and answered all of my questions. He gave me quotes for both name brand and their brand, and told me the benefits of each. When I asked about permits, he told me that would be covered in the price. He told me that my a/c unit was placed incorrectly. The previous homeowner had built a deck above the a/c unit, leaving very liitle room for air to get into it. He suggested that we move it out from under the deck, because there was not enough clearance where it was. He told me that to do that I would need to have an electrician in, and that would be included in the quoted price. Overall, I felt confident that he knew what he was talking about. The other company I called was the opposite. They told me that I didn't need to move the unit, when I asked about a permit, the guy got cagey and told me I didn't need one, which I knew was false. Then he changed his tune and said I did technically need one but I could go without it and it wouldn't matter. That alone was enough for me to go with sears heating and cooling instead. The work was done quickly and efficiently, the workers were polite and cleaned up after themselves. They arrived on time, and had the job done in a day. In the end I am very pleased with the work that was done, my new a/c unit works wonderfully, and my electric bill has gone down quite a bit. They did move the unit out from under my deck, and the electrician they had in was also polite and answered all my questions.

It just got old. Also, they rescheduled the appointment the day of which was a hassle for me. All in all, I am satisfied with them.

+ -1 moreI went in thinking I needed X which cost Y dollars. I left with a Z that cost $Y/2 dollars. X wouldn't have fixed the problem anyway, but that's what I would have bought without their advice.
Description of Work: I've not had Sears do any work in our home, but I've bought parts for our home HVAC system from them on a number of occasions. They've helped me troubleshoot problems and provided the parts I needed, even when I thought I needed something else. That's something you don't get in the big-box stores with their shelf-stockers who don't actually know the stuff they're selling.

+ -1 moreScott Wasen -- He was the one who did the work for me. He spent a lot of time explaining how to program the thermostat. He also explained how to set the humidifier and dehumidifier. He explained a couple of other things about the furnace to me as well. He was very helpful and spent a lot of time here.
Description of Work: They were doing scheduled maintenance on my furnace. I also had a new programmable thermostat.

He fixed it temporarily for me because I had company coming that weekend and he didn't charge me anything for that, which I really appreciated. The installer, Jason, did a very good job and he was very polite. Dennis, the supervisor ,came over and checked everything out and he was very good too. They cleaned up very well and it was a great experience. They even helped me get the $1500 tax credit and sent me all the information I needed. They are a great company and I would highly recommend them.

+ -1 moreThey are my most favorite heating and cooling company in Columbus. When I called them, the office personnel were very accommodating to my schedule. Jamie was the guy who came out. He was very prompt and told me everything. He could answer all my questions. He was very well informed. We scheduled a time and then Tony was the guy who came out to do the work. They then installed the new gas furnace in four hours. I also purchased it from them. They had everything. I told them exactly what I wanted. They also put in a programmable thermostat. Their price was reasonable compared to other places that wanted double. They have very good and reasonable prices. Their service is excellent. They also told me that they would be right out here when I have any problems. They had worked on my air conditioner couple of years ago. They are excellent. They are very dependable and reliable. They also took care of the permit. They did everything in the right way. They went through the proper steps. The city then called me for an inspection. They did everything in the way it?s supposed to be done. They are reputable. I have no complaints about them. I would most definitely use them in the future too. I have a program with them where they would do the yearly inspections and everything. They also check everything once a year. I got on that program because they are so thorough.

Description of Work: We have a service contract with Sears. Everett came to do a routine inspection/cleaning. He discovered a leak. Came back to work on it one week later but discovered he needed to order a part. He did and came on 5/26 to fix the system. He worked for about two hours to complete the work. He cleaned up after himself. There was no charge to us as the unit is still under warranty.

+ -1 moreThey were fine except we had a negative experience with the installation. The installer had no idea how to set the thermostat. So, the first week we had our new air conditioner was going crazy. It was going up and down and not cooling. I called them first and they sent the same guy to look at it. He said there is nothing wrong with it. I called them again and I was very mad. I called my credit card company to stop the payment because I wasn t very satisfied. The payment had already gone through. I wasn t satisfied. Finally, after about five or six days I called them and told them they needed to send someone out to look at the thermostat. The problem that we had was with the thermostat.
Description of Work: They replaced the whole heating and air conditioning system because it was very old. It just died.
