The job went very well. The contact man showed up when promised, and explained everything about their services and what they would propose to solve our problem. He was very thorough in describing and explaining everything. His cost was lower than the others we contacted, and his approach to getting the job done met our needs and desires perfectly. He promised, and delivered, on a schedule which suited us quite well. The job was done in 2 days by a crew that seemed to know what they were doing, and worked efficiently. They were all very friendly and polite, and seemed to have our interests and comfort as top priorities. They completed the job with a minimum of interference with our activities, and left the basement cleaner than before the job.
Description of Work: Contractor installed new drain tile around entire perimeter (inside) of basement. Job also included a new sump pit and 3 new sump pumps (1 primary, 1 regular backup to the primary, and a battery-powered backup to the primaries. They also drilled "weep holes" in the block walls below the basement floor level, and added 4 drain holes to the drain tiles, and left a 2-inch gap between the floor and walls to collect any water that might get on the floor. They also improved the connection from the sump pumps to an outside buried drain line, and gave us good advice as to what to do to improve the outside drainage away from the house.

Paul came out gave me an estimate. Told me get another estimate if not comfortable with his. I considered The Basement Doctor & Rogers based on the experiences from people reports on Angie's List. Felt comfortable with Paul and went with him. Very satisfied with work so far.

After 11 years I still have a dry basement. They were very efficient, took care to keep the dust/dirt confined to the basement area & cleaned up well when they were finished. After all that I received & still have a card signed by Mike Stearns & the others that worked on my basement thanking me for putting my trust in their company & telling me not to hesitate to call if I have any problems. So far I have not called them. At that time the company was referred to me by a friend as I probably was not an Angie's List member.
Description of Work: 2011-Had a very wet basement, cement block foundation. Since this work was done 11 years ago, I'm providing what I can from the contract: Installed hydro-flow network, sump pump swell only & replaced pump, floating floor, I-beams, mortar behind I-beams, patch cracks in wall, scrape & clean for customer to paint, refinish concrete & haul away debris.

The owner, Paul, returned my calls promptly and showed up as scheduled to give his estimate. On the day of the job, he and his crew arrived on time. They were polite, friendly, and explained what they would be doing. Then they set to work and were done much sooner than I expected. They very carefully cleaned up after their work. The difference in my basement is amazing! I am very pleased with Rogers Basement and would very highly recommend them to anyone. Not only were they competent, but there was a feeling of respect and comraderie between the workers and owner that was refreshing. I selected Rogers Basement after reading Angie's List reviews. This was my first time using Angies list and this one great experience is worth my membership fee.

Some electricians who were doing some work discovered that a block wall behind my drywall in the finished part of my basement has been getting wet for quite some time. Paul from Rogers Basement Waterproofing Co. came out to determine what needed to be done to fix this problem. He was very helpful and honest and suggested that I get some outside work done first, having some cracks sealed around my foundation outside, etc. Only if this less expensive solution didn't work did he suggest that he would come back and remove the drywall to work on the basement wall from the inside for me. I really appreciated Paul's advice! Then when I went to write him a check for his service call, he said that was okay, he didn't need anything for today! I will certainly be calling Paul from Rogers Basement Waterproofing Co. again if I need basement work done, as he has shown himself to be trustworthy and honest.

I first noted water pooling by the back, garage downspout in the summer. As we had such heavy rainfall all summer, I hoped this was a result of that and not an exterior drainage problem in the making. When, in the early winter, I noticed water pooling by the downspout on the front of the house, I decided I'd better call someone so remedial work could be performed before heavy spring rains. I checked the list and from reviews selected Rogers Basement and Waterproofing for a consultation. I am not good at the interviewing process, so I always try to pick the best company/person the first time. I called on a Friday. Paul called back and we set up an inspection for Monday. Tuesday the work was performed and Wednesday, it rained. There were no pools of water by the downspouts. Paul seemed to think given the age of the house and the relative dryness of the basement, that the old clay drainage tiles were no longer doing their job and that replacing the exrterior drainage system would be sufficent. If it doesn't prove to be the case, he said we would move on to work in the basement itself. He also recommedned that the old gutters installed in the 70's be replaced. That will be my next step once the weather warms up. I felt comfortable with Paul's candor and knowledge. He took time to listen to my concerns and observations. He clearly explained all the work his crew would perform. And he was right there on the job first thing in the morning, showing me what they were doing and instructing his crew. They were so friendly and neat about the work they were doing. And the clean-up was impressive and thorough.
Description of Work: Paul Boeriu, president of Rogers Basement Waterproofing Co., called me back with about an exterior drainage question and set up an appointment to look at my basement and foundation. He came out on time on a Monday, inspected the basement and outside foundation of my 1918-built home. He felt the old clay drainage tiles had collapsed which was causing water to pool around a front and back downspouts. The first line of defense was to install a new drainage system for the downspouts and see how that works out. If more, interior, work is needed, we can cross that bridge if we come to it. As 2011 was a year of unusual rain, I was very concerned that spring rains not cause any damage to the brick foundation. And since the weather was mild, Paul felt a crew of 8 could install the necessary piping in one day, which also happened to be before another rainstorm blew in. We agreed the work could be accomplished the very next day! And this in January. On the day, Paul and his crew carefully hand-dug trenches aound most of the house foundation and tied these new drainage pipes to the existing downspouts. The men also dug trenches out to the street for drainage. They had to create a downhill slope for pipe draining the back of the garage which meant they brought in dirt to elevate the drainage pipe running from the downspout. In addition, to create the new drainage into the street gutter, they had to remove a concrete sidewalk panel and replace it once the piping was installed. I have a lot of vegetation aound the house and when they dug the trenches they were very careful to minimize damage to roots and vegetation. They were also mindful of my very old, and prized, magnolia tree when they ran the pipe to the street. I had to leave shortly after they began work. When I returned later in the afternoon, it was as if they had never been there. The sod had been carefully removed and replaced in the front yard, dirt had been carefully replaced, and all the downspouts had new sleeves which tied them to new piping. The new sidewalk panel was clearly flagged for safety. Any mud and concrete residue had been cleaned up. And too a man, everyone of the crew I spoke with was so friendly and pleasant. They no doubt take their cue from Paul who is a knowledgable, friendly, helpful man. The next day it rained and there was no pooling of water by the downspouts, so I am very hopeful this will solve my problem.

After contacting Rogers Basement and Waterproofing they sent someone out the next day to install a new sump pump. I It was nice to be recognized as a previous customer and treated with an immediate response.

They work was done is 3 day shifts. The first 3 days was the digging, installing the drain, and cementing over the ditch. The next 3 days ( a week later) finished the rest of the work. It was a pleasant experience. The crew was courteous and clean. The first thing they did when they arrived was to put a sheet of plastic on the floor where they would walk. All the big items were brought through the basement windows. Paul Boerilu, the president, came out each morning with the crew. He even called us several times during the process to make sure we did not have any questions or concerns. Rogers's estimate was considerably less than the other quotes, however, they did more for what was quoted from the other companies.
Description of Work: Dug trench around the inside of the basement and installed a drainage pipe. Moved the sump pump and installed new sump pump equipment. Installed 9 steel beams. Ran new outside drain lines for sump pump and gutters. Removed paneling from the walls and thoro-sealed the walls. Even after having as much rain this fall/winter (2011), our basement is nice and dry!

I believe I called Paul, and with in 24 hours he had returned my phone call. We played phone tag a couple of days, but once we made contact we set an appointment for the next day, for him to come give us an estimate. In order to do the job, it could not be too cold, and it could not be raining, so we looked at the upcoming few days of weather, and felt that Monday Dec. 19th. looked like it would be dry. The crew, about 8 gentlemen showed up even before they said they would, including Paul. He spoke with me, and explained the "job to his men". He was kind, and (I think) because it was so close to Christmas, he offered to hold onto our check and wait to cash it, if we needed to. He noticed we had children, and he obviously understood to expense around Christmas. Such a kind man. Luckily, we did not need for him to hold on to the check, but for him to even offer was amazing. He didn't want us to put the job off until January, because the weather can just be too cold to do this type of work, and also because the wall in the basement was already beginning to bow. He honored both coupons from your site. I know he was not obligated to do that. Just a wonderful man. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone of my friends or family members. When the men were finished with the job, one of them came to the door, and let me know they were finished, and told me that he is the gentleman that I would call if there were any issues.
Description of Work: They replaced our outside underground drain pipe from the back corner of the house where the sump pump is located, and for free they tied that line into the line at the front corner of the house, by passing that section of drain pipe (which added an additional 7-8 feet of drain pipe) (and that is how they calculate the price of job, by the number of feet of drain pipe) Now, we just need to begin the repair of the inside of the basement. There again, he gave us suggestions on how to do much of it on our own, and advised us of the next issues we need to deal with, now that we have the main issue fixed.

First let me say I selected Rogers based on the reviews here at Angies list. I called Rogers on Monday and the work was done that same week (Friday), Paul came out to give an estimate the next day and inspected all walls. He noticed cracking in several walls but indicated only the wall I had with a bow (about 1 inch) was a concern. He recommended installation of 5 steel beams to stabilize the wall. He also said he could fix a corner that had mold / mildew and appeared wet (although it did not leak) by drilling weep holes into the bottom cinder blocks. He charged $500 / per beam and did the corner work for us at no extra charge ( Paul mentioned that since they would have the jack hammer in the basement anyway it was no big deal). Paul noted that an air duct was in the way where he needed to put one of the beams. He called a heating and cooling company he works with and had them contact me the next day (Klein Heating and Cooling). They came out Thursday and moved the duct for $160. Paul came out with his crew on Friday and instructed them what needed done and then left the site (Paul indicated when he talked to us earlier this is what he would do). I was not home at the time but my Wife was very happy with the forman that was in charge although I do not know his name. They were in and out in about 5 hours. My Wife mentioned all the workers took care to keep the house clean and did not damage anything (were very professional). The beams were installed and the corner work done as expected.
Description of Work: Installation of 5 steel beams to halt movement of bowing basement wall. Repair wet corner (jackhammer concrete in corner, drill weep holes in foundation blocks, re-cement)

I was very pleased overall. There was no charge for this visit and my water problem is fixed. I would definitely recommend Rogers waterproofing to anyone...John was very honest and did not try to sell me anything I did not need. How refreshing. Thank you Rogers Waterproofing!
Description of Work: Had a thin crack in the poured foundation running down the corner of the basement wall. Water had been coming in there and running across the floor. I thought a sealant might work, but called Rogers Basement Waterproofing just to be sure. John came out and without any input from me, told me to get a sealant to plug up the crack and then paint it with waterproof paint. He also gave me advice on building up the dirt around the outside of the house to direct water away from the foundation.

I had estimates from 3 companies. One of the estimates was unrealistically cheap. The two others were identical, which suggests to me that there is a standard formula by the foot for estimating this kind of job. I chose Rogers. Luckily for me, Rogers had a cancellation that a cancellation that permitted them to schedule this job at the right time for me. I had to coordinate this job with mold-abatement work done first and duct-cleaning done right afterward. All this fell into place somehow. Paul, who does the estimates and supervises for Rogers, is very professional and a good person to talk to. When the time came, the work crew came out, completed the job in two days, and left things clean and neat. That is saying a lot after a job that involves drilling concrete. Before they start, they cover the cold air returns upstairs, and they also do things in the basement to keep the dust down. I had sensitive electronics in my basement. My Time Warner cables come in through the basement and run along the ceiling. They connect to a modem and router, which are located on a high shelf. I bet I am not the only person who has things like this precariously perched in the basement, so don't forget about them in contracting for a job like this. We managed to avoid mishaps while Rogers was here. As a matter of fact, they added some straps to anchor the shelves that hold the electronics to the ceiling, so that my equipment would not topple over easily. One avoidable mishap came from attaching a water hose to a faucet by the water meter and using that to hose down the floor. That was not a good idea. Water rolled across the floor and got into a box storage area where there were cardboard boxes on the floor. Having just had costly mold abatement work done, wetting organic matter in a place where it could not dry out was just the setup to regrow the mold. Luckily, I saw this before the workmen left, and we got the boxes out to a place where they could dry. Still, it was an avoidable panic and unnecessary labor. I have been running two dehumidifiers all summer, and the readouts on them have not gone down that much yet. They were consistently at about 55% before the work was done. Since, they are about 50%, and one of them occasionally reads as low as 45%. Having been told that mold can grow at any level between 35% and 55% humidity, I would like to see my readings lower than they are so far. However, the under-floor drain work required laying new concrete after the drains were installed. Rogers informs me that new concrete retains a lot of water, and that it may take a month for that to dry out. I hope I will see that happen soon.. I would have been very happy not to spend this money. But my basement needed drying out, and therse people were good to work with.

We use Angie's List all of the time and rely on their recommendations. When we discovered that our basement crawl space was damp, we researched Angie's List to find a contractor. Rogers Basement Waterproofing was, by far, the best company listed. (We were a little concerned about a recent review stating that the person was disappointed that the company didn't meet their e-mail expectations.) We had no trouble scheduling a convenient appointment, met with Paul to discuss the problem, and arranged to have the work completed. Paul arrived at our home on time (he even called to let us know he was on his way), was very professional (and helpful) in discussing our problem with us, and we reached an agreed amount to fix the problem. The job was completed on time and we were totally satisfied with the work. Although we only dealt with company representatives over the phone and in person -- and not by e-mail -- we highly recommend Rogers Basement Waterproofing.

I submitted an email to Roger's Basement Waterproofing because I work in an open area where personal phone calls are not allowed and can be heard. My email to them stated: "It would be best to contact me by email. I need a quote for repair of basement leaks. Tuesdays are best. I live at XXX ABC Ave, 432XX. Thx. This was the reply I received 2 days later: "This is Paul. Cell 3 614-XXX-9086? Rather than responding by saying. Good afternoon Ms. ABC. I would be happy to provide you a quote. I called Roger's Waterproofing because my landscaper had concerns that the erosion problem around the downspout was caused by the inability of the underground downspout to handle the volume of water coming from the three gutters. Since it was Roger's that installed the downspouts, I called them to remedy the problem since it sounded like it may have been an issue caused by them using the wrong size pipe. Bill is the gentleman I spoke to on the phone. He first asked me if the gutter was clogged. I assured him, like I did the landscaper, that I had just had the gutters cleaned and could not imagine that being the problem. I was surprised when he told me that he would come out within a few hours to check on it. He showed up early. I explained the history and he right away went to check the downspouts. They were all working fine, so he was a little perplexed as to what was causing the erosion. He said that the erosion was not consistent with where the water would come out if the downspouts were backing up. He decided to check the gutter anyway. When he stuck the hose in the gutter, water started flowing out of the seams in the gutter bend which is exactly what would happen on rainy days. He said it was definitely a gutter issue. I asked him roughly how much that would cost and he said, ..." roughly nothing." He said he would take care of it for me for free. He got up on a ladder and lo and behold when he took the bend apart it was clogged with organic matter. I was flabbergasted. I could not believe it. I want to add that Bill was very friendly and patient with me. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and I plan on using them again in the future.
Description of Work: Diagnosed erosion problem around downspout. Unclogged gutter.

On July 7, John Rogers (the owner!) came out to my house to take a look at the drain pipe areas that needed repair. I explained to him that 2 other companies had come out to give estimates and both seemed a bit high to me so I re-joined Angie's List and found his company (which was highly rated). He looked at each area, told me what could be done to fix it, and gave me a much, much more reasonable estimate. He said that it was really too small of a job for his company to work on, but he would be willing to let one of his guys work on it as a side-project on their own time. He also told me exactly what to buy and do if I wanted to do it on my own. I called him back the next day to ask for the name of one of his guys to come work on it as a side project. Jayson called me on July 9 to talk about the work and set up a time for him to come look the project. He stopped at the house on July 11 to talk to me in person and go over each area and what I wanted him to do or not do. On July 16 he came and completed two parts of the project for $250 dollars. The work looks great and he cleaned up after himself so that it was difficult to tell that anything had been done. He also decided that one area was a bigger task than anticipated and said that he would come back the next Saturday to complete the work. He has been very open, honest, and up-front about all work being done and how much everything will cost. The work is well done and is costing a fraction of another estimate ($5000). I am very, very pleased with my interaction with Rogers Basement Waterproofing so far and expect to be pleased with the work that is still to be done. I HIGHLY recommend Rogers Basement Waterproofing as a honest company that is very easy to work with.
Description of Work: Underground, outside drain pipe repair in three different locations around our house.

Rogers Basement was great! The first thing they did when I answered the door was make sure they were not blocking my car in the garage in case I had to get it out. They also noticed that my outside drain for the sump pump had shifted and the cap was off by about 1/4 inch. They moved the pipe back in place and made sure the cap was on tight. The crew was very clean! Considering they jackhammered the concrete basement flooor, installed the I-Breams, brought in gravel, and replaced the cement, I think that part of the basement floor is cleaner than when they started! I am so impressed with their friendliness, professionalism, and the overall job I will always use Rogers. I have recommened them to other people who are having problems with basement walls cracking and bowing.
Description of Work: My basement wall had a long horizontal crack and was beginning to bow. Rogers reinforced the wall with I-Beams and filled the cracks. The I-beams are imbedded into the footers and secured to the floor above.
