We had areas in our unfinished basement where water has seeped in at various times, through the concrete block walls and also between the walls and the concrete floor. We also had a 19 year old sump pump which was running well but making us increasingly nervous. We contracted with Rogers to address these items. They did a fantastic job. The crew including Paul the owner arrived plenty early in the morning and Paul stayed around long enough to see things start off properly and to make sure my expectations were in sync with the work they planned to perform. Paul was also astute enough to note our nice paver brick driveway and made sure that the crew would keep all their trucks out in the street and not on our pavers. Very early in the day Jason the crew foreman gave an estimate that the work would take until about 1:30 PM. I couldn't believe that they could complete such a job so quickly but in reality they finished even earlier than that - around 1:15. I believe these 7 or 8 personable guys just work really well together, know what they are doing, and go about things in a very efficient and methodical manner. The jackhammer work was definitely noisy but ended up creating very little residual dust in the basement. One of the crew explained their technique for keeping this level of cleanliness from the jackhammering which is also mentioned in various other reviews of this company. The hauling of old debris and new materials and concrete was all done through a basement window using "bucket brigade" type of technique, so there was relatively little foot traffic in and out of the house. Again I was very impressed by the speed and efficiency of all this. To protect the path they did use through the house, they put down a very liberal amount of plastic sheeting, and left no signs of any dirt on any of our flooring. When all was basically done they spent a decent amount of time cleaning up the basement work area, leaving it cleaner than before they started. To say one more thing about Paul - he is a guy of integrity who doesn't like sales pitches and doesn't like being long winded about anything. Unlike other companies his estimate was entirely verbal but he kept his word on absolutely everything he promised, and even authorized a bit more work than originally discussed, without any deviation in the quoted price. I have nothing but tremendous respect for this company and its employees and would have no hesitation to hire them in the future, although I would certainly prefer to not have the need. We needed to have Rogers back out about 6 months later, because the PVC pipe above the sump pump started leaking and throwing water onto the basement floor outside the sump pit whenever the pump ran. Unfortunately it took 2 visits to fix the leak completely. I was not home when the first crew came (they arrived earlier than I was expecting) but I allowed them to come in via garage door combination. After just 5 or 10 minutes they called and said they'd fixed the leak by tightening the check valve, but when I got home to inspect things, the leak was still there and seemed no better than before. When I called Paul to report this, he said he'd have a crew back out before the end of the day, and he did. The second crew to come out (Chris and Craig) arrived very late, around 6 PM. They opened things up and diagnosed the problem as a section of PVC that was cut too short in the original installation. After doing the necessary re-plumbing, there has been absolutely no leakage since. I want to thank Paul for his commitment to get this fixed promptly and correctly, and Chris and Craig for the great job done early into the evening.
Description of Work: Removed a one foot wide strip of the basement floor about halfway around the entire basement, opened weep holes in the foundation, replaced the drain pipe underneath, backfilled with gravel and concrete, and replaced the old sump pump.

My 87 yr old home has a wet basement (cinder block walls) and we've taken various steps over the last few years to run water away from the house (fixing downspouts and exterior drains, grading, etc.). Slowly things were drying up little by little, but a couple of months ago in it seemed to get worse (though we've had a really rainy summer). We resigned ourselves it was time to bite the bullet and start considering waterproofing the basement. Paul from Rogers Basement Waterproofing Co. came to check things out and listened to the litany of things we'd done over the last few years. Initially, he agreed we've done everything we can, and he quoted 13-14K. However, the more questions he asked, he realized that the water line coming from the city valve into the house could have a leak; it is after all almost 90 years old and made of galvanized steel. He recommended calling the city to check the water pressure (which they do for free), or pay a couple of hundred dollars to have someone run a camera through our drains to see if there's something wrong there. The city water pressure test confirmed the line has a leak and I've been quoted (so far from 3 different city-approved and A-rated Angie's List companies) the repair will range from $1,700-$2,500. What a huge difference in out-of-pocket expenses and it solves the problem. I'm extremely grateful for Paul's honesty and integrity; he could have simply quoted a price to do a job to get my business, I would have been none the wiser, and the actual problem would remain uncorrected. I would hire as well as recommend Rogers Basement Waterproofing in a heartbeat.

One of the reasons I called them was the reviews given here that they had offered other suggestions besides waterproofing to try to mitigate. Paul came out and we looked at everything. He offered me two suggestions to try first for mitigating my problems. One involved having the ground dug up to check the sump pump piping and such. He gave me a referral that was also on Angie's List. The other was to have a landscape company redirect water by building the ground up away from the damp spot. Paul was prompt, courteous and super helpful! He didn't charge me for his time and was candid that I should try the other suggestions first before resorting to waterproofing the entire basement. I really appreciated his time and candor! Thanks Paul!!!
Description of Work: I called Rogers Basement Waterproofing for an estimate for my basement. A property assessor had told me I was 2-3 years out from a problem that could be costly. I have a wet corner by my sump pump and had an opposite wall that showed signs of water dripping.

This review is far overdue but I wanted to experience a couple more decent storms to make sure the work they did was effective before reviewing. I can't begin to describe how much better Rogers made us feel after a bad experience during a particularly bad storm in June. Our crawl space and basement took in more than 200 gallons of water in two spurts on June 24th and we were petrified about what to do. I had Paul out last fall to look at our crawl for moisture and asked him for an estimate to dig up the exterior, waterproof and re-grade for us. He wouldn't do it until I did some things to try to improve the situation to see if that would solve it before spending money on him and his company. So when the water came in on that night two months ago (NOT the problem I had him out to look at last fall) through a hole in the footer (thank goodness for shop-vacs) and around an exterior glass block window into the basement I knew I could trust them right away. I called the next morning and was told someone would call me that day to schedule an appointment. Within an hour Mike from Rogers called me and said he could come out the next day. I also called three other companies and two of them couldn't make it until 5 days later, the third never called back. Mike came by, assessed the situation, gave me a VERY fair estimate and gave me a date when he and his crew could come out to do the work. It was further out than I had wanted for fear of this happening again and the threat of having to pump water out of our basement at 1am like the first time. When I told him I was hoping to have it sooner and that I had other people coming to take a look he made me a deal: On the following Monday (the day the others were going to come out to do their estimates) he and his guy (Chris) would come out and simply block the area where water had come through the hole in the footer in order to prevent it from happening again so we could sleep at night and not worry about a storm. Then he said he'd bring his team in on a weekend as quickly as he could to do the rest of the work mentioned in the "provided services" section. He called me later that day to let me know that they could be out on 7/12 and would arrive between 8-8:30. At 8:00 on that Saturday I could hear the trucks backing up into the driveway to get the job done, Mike as the lead and 6 team members along with him to do the job. They were fantastic from start to finish. Incredibly courteous, polite, and professional. However, the best part is that on the written estimate Mike listed 7 items to do: Caulk window and fill in footer to block water (which they had done two weeks prior), install bracing beams on the crawl space wall (not necessary for prevention of water coming in but something I wanted done because the wall was bowing a little), install sump pump, electric for sump and a run for the sump out to the backyard as well as the French drain along the footer. There was no mention of the additional items they ended up doing that I didn't ask for, which included the vapor barrier (which Mike and I discussed but wasn't on the written estimate so he could have completely hosed us), burying a downspout that they saw was not buried, ripping up the ruined carpeting as well as disinfecting the now exposed basement flooring, and removing some yard debris for me that they saw was just sitting there (it was a 300lb rock water fountain that I didn't want and didn't know how to dispose of). During the work they had to rip up a few boards from my wood deck, and instead of just leaving them there for me to put back down they took the extra time to nail them right back in place when they were done. Overall they were simply awesome. I want to thank Mike and his crew profusely for their work and being able to work with our needs. You all clearly don't need references but I'd be more than happy to oblige if needed.
Description of Work: Installed sump pump along with electric for sump and piping to run through foundation wall and out to back yard. Also added bracing to crawl space wall, installed French drain along foundation wall, laid down stone and plastic vapor barrier in crawl space, buried downspout line, tore up basement carpeting, caulked around glass block window on the interior and exterior and removed yard debris that we didn't want.

Rogers was fantastic!! Paul is great, they showed up with a team of 5-6 guys to get the job done quickly and efficiently. They had to dig up our drainage pipe that goes to the street; they did it neatly and replaced the grass so that it looked like nothing was ever done. Driveway cutting was done to install drainpipes underneath, and the driveway was built up at base of house to prevent water from flowing towards house. Very happy with the whole staff and the work...we even got a card in the mail thanking us for the business!?

I wanted to take a moment to thank the owner, Paul. He came out to assess the moldy situation in the basement and took the time to offer some recommendations for how I could treat the mold and do some work outdoors with the grading, gutters, etc. He was NOT a salesman, and he didn't try to sell me on a waterproofing system I really don't need at this time (as long as the basement stays unfinished). He thought I could try the other suggestions first (which will involve hiring outdoor contractors) and then maybe think about waterproofing later. Definitely different than the Basement Authority who wanted to sell me a new waterproofing system, a $2000 dehumidifier, and expensive down spouting work. This is an honest company, and, as a relatively inexperienced homeowner (and maybe easy target for the many salesmen-contractors out there), I really appreciate someone who genuinely wants to help and doesn't try to sell you things you don't need. Thanks again!

I think I gave enough details above. I have no more to add as he recommended that we needed someone else to fix our problem. It was not a basement issue as much as a landscaping problem.
Description of Work: Paul Rogers came out to our home to diagnose our basement issues. He has incredible integrity and explained that we didn't need his services after all. He spent a long time explaining what we should do and how to take care of our problem. He was wonderful! He would not accept any money for the service of coming out and diagnosing our problem. He is a kind and generous man who just said he wanted to help us. How refreshing to come in contact with such a wonderful, honest person with great ethics and integrity. Thank you so much Paul. It was very pleasant dealing with Rogers, from Paul coming out looking things over and giving the quote, to the worker's installing everything. Everyone showed up on time, a crew of at least 10, they immediately started digging all the trenches. 4 hours later everything was done, including replacing the turf and tamping everything down so that you barely notice they were here
Description of Work: They ran all new drain lines from the down spouts to the curb. They also had to cut a hole in the curb for one of the new drain lines. They installed the proper size of discharge pipe from the sump pump and connected it to the exterior drain line

I phoned Roger's two days ago and was told I would receive a call back from Paul or another associate that same day. Within 2 hours Paul phoned me. I told him about the water in my basement and he set a time to look at it two days later. He called the morning prior to confirm he was on his way. When he arrived I showed him the water in the basement. He said based on where it was coming from he'd likely need to open the floor and install a pipe to the nearby sump pump. He said he'd first like to take a look outside to confirm where the water was flowing from. Within a moment of being outside, he said I think I just found and fixed your problem, you're all set! A connecting arm of pipe on the side of our home had somehow become disconnected, not allowing the water from the sump to get to the main drain line from the house. So the water was pooled in that area (plus all the rain this week didn't help) and it was naturally draining down (to our basement). Paul was happy to have helped and so modest and humble at his discovery. He easily could have taken some 'that's so funny, these home owners are clueless' angle; but he didn't. He was so kind, professional and sincerely seemed happy he didn't have to do this big job in our basement. He chimed something like "that's the way we should be, helping each other". I couldn't agree more and he has barely pulled out of the driveway as I am writing this. I have remodeled 2 homes in UA and NEVER have I seen such genuine care in a service provider. This water was holding me back from putting my current home on the market this week (out of fear). If my next home needs work I hope it's basement related so I can hire Paul and his team. I asked if I could pay him for his time/trip. He said absolutely not. I am still stunned at the kindness that was shown to me and my family this morning. I am grateful and will pass this along in someway to others today Paul. Pay it forward (like Paul) and thank you so much!

Paul was fantastic. Before trying extensive repairs, he suggested trying installing a new sump pump and fixing a gutter that had been sheared off due to high winds. When I told him that a neighbor said that they would do these repairs for us, he didn't push me to have his company do them instead. Two days since the new sump and gutter extension and we have a dry basement.

Perfection. We are on our third home and after 35 years, this is the very first time anyone has been this good working on our home. Our house sits at the bottom of a hill with a creak running within 25 feet. Needless to say, we get a lot of water through our two sump pumps. While the basement has generally been dry, we were starting to see a slight amount of water at the base of the back wall in the basement. The basement is not fiished but we had wall to wall burber installed when the kids were young and living at home so they could use the basement as a rec room. A few years back we had someone look at this and a slight crack in the concrete walls was diagnosed as the problem. A wall patch made of plastic was commissioned but the problem was back with the heavy rain last Fall and it was getting worse. We had a 6 by 30 foot section of carpet soaked to the top 2 days before Christmas. Spring coming on and I finally I went shopping for someone to fix this. It's a terrible feeling to have no idea when you will have a wet floor and as good as our boys were about it, I felt horrible calling them to come quick and move furniture and sop up wet carpet. After reading Angies list extensively, I decided to call Rogers Basement Waterproofing. While the floors were dry at the time, it was just a matter of time. Paul came over the next day. Evidence of the water was apparent on the carpet tack boards. He spent a lot of time with me. He looked at the grade, looked at the spots where the water was coming up and he listened to all the symptoms I had built up over the many years of intermittant trouble. Everything he said made sense to me. I was immediately comfortable and we wrote up the order to dig out the inside tile on the back wall. I had no idea of the going rates other than the checking on Angies list. Since we were only doing the back wall, I think the cost is not as high as some of the other estimates I read on the list. The best part was that RBW uses a steady single crew that do all of their jobs. When you are really worried about your house, it is really a weight off your shoulders to know it's going to be handled. At 8AM exactly the time scheduled, three bright red trucks showed up at my driveway. Paul appeared and introduced the entire crew. There were at least nine of them and every one was extreamly polite. They laid down plastic from the front door all the way to the work space. They erected a plastic wall to keep the dust away from the furniture and my wife's beloved fabrics (she is a quilter and there is nothing more important in our house than the fabric stash... which was right next to where the hole would be dug). I had asked Paul if we could take the cement and dirt he dug out and fill a spot in the creak that had ben eroding. He assigned one of his team to do whatever I asked in placing that there. I could not believe it. These guys stripped the carpet tack from the concrete, separated trash grom dirt and rocks, set the concrete aside, filled my hole with dirt then laid the concrete pieces on top of the dirt so the dirt would not be washed away. What service!! More importantly, they showed me what was going on under the floor. Jay, the job supervisor pointed out all the details of what was going wrong. The tile pipe had originally been laid with very little rock and the rock that was there was limestone which had deteriorated and contributed to blocking the water flow from getting to the pipe. They made another run to get more river rock (the small round rocks that don't ever break down and pass muddy water much easier). I could see the iron stain along the back wall for 20 feet where the water was rising up so I saw that he was acurate in his initial diagnosis from when we first spoke. As an added measure, they laid the river rock a bit higher. While this made the concrete floor an inch thinner on the 1 foot wide back wall section, it gave the water a huge path out if there was ever any issue in the future and the cement was still plenty thick. Paul and Jay also trenched and replaced another 8 feet of tile down the connecting wall and flused out that line to the second pump for no additional fee just to be sure. They pulled down the ugly plastic wall patch I had done a few years before and put in a much better stucco faced patch that matched my poured concrete walls (also no charge). When they were done, they mopped my basement floor with Pine-Sol, removed the plastic wall, all the plastic path ways, swept the kitchen and then went back with a rag looking for spots in the kitchen. All of the materials in and out were passed through the basment window by hand and I have no marks because the window was protected. These guys were done by noon. If not for the wet concrete, I would not have known they were there. They picked up every piece of trach and debris from the lawn. Best of all I know I will never have a wet basement. It is one thing to be told that but it's another to be shown every step, how it works, why it works so that you yourself understand why the basment will never be wet again. Jay even worked with me to ensure the sump levels were set at optimum to ensure the rock and pipe were not sitting in muddy water. After they left, I started to remove the plastic I had covered everything in the basement with including the precious fabric the night before. I was amazed. There was no dust on any of it. They do not use a cement saw. They used a jack hammer with a wet cloth around the chisel and a hose to keep the dust down. It really worked. Paul called me after the job to check in and to make sure there was nothing left undone. There wasn't and I was really happy. The next day, I received a thank you card that was signed by the whole crew. The office staff is also excelent btw. So if you have water leaking into your basement and you are reading this, I have to say that I would not even call anyone else. Rogers Basement Waterproofing can fix anything, give you peace of mind and make you feel good about it. Their price is not the lowest but their price for what they do is the lowest. It will be fixed for good and it's the best value I have gotten in a very long time. I can now finish out my basement. Oh and I just figured out that the musty smell that has always been in the basment is now gone! Finally, no I am not related to any of these guys and I had not met anyone from RBW before Paul showed up at my door. These guys are just that good. Thank you Paul.

I called Rogers Basement because we have a crawlspace. It is dirt, then gravel, then clear plastic. We have no water damage but I wanted advice on what could be done as far as looks. I received the best call and advice from Roger's. They told me if I had no water damage to just buy a dehumidifier and fan (at Lowe's or any other store). There is nothing to be done, but beware of other companies that may try to sell me expensive dehumidifiers. The gentleman on the phone was professional, honest, and told me what to be aware of. He was very familiar with the type of crawlspace we have and talked to me extensively. I have never encountered an honest person representing a company that cared about my best interest and finances. This company did both. I would recommend this company and I will definitely keep their name and number because of their integrity and character. They did not want to "just sell me something and make some money." They truly cared about my issue. I will never forget how honest these people are....what a rare character these days. Please give them a chance if you have an issue.

I had significant water in my basement after the winter thaw, and I called Rogers because of their excellent reviews. I talked to Paul tp get an estimate on waterproofing my basement, and he told me I should get a plumber first to look for a sewer line blockage. I did this, and the plumbers did eliminate the problem with the flowing water. Paul gave me an estimate on waterproofing the basement. I thought it was quite reasonable; however, I did not go with it because I had too much heavy stuff to move to accommodate the work and because I have a tile floor in the basement. After Rogers installed the pipe for the waterproofing, I would have had to hire flooring contractor to replace the tile. This would have added signifcant expense to the project in addition to delaying access to the use of my basement. Therefore, after discussing options wth Paul, I decided to have a sump pump installed. Because my drains were made of clay tile with uncertain joints, I decided to have the drain lines into which the sump pump would discharge water replaced too.. I got an estimate for installing the sump pump from the plumbers who did the original basement draining, and they quoted $2000 to install a sump pump comparable to what I got from Rogers. The reviews for the plumber were also good, but I I still went with Rogers mainly because of their excellent reviews. A team of 7 workers began work at 8:00 on they day appointed, and they finished everything by around 2:00 the same day. I was impressed with how they worked and their willingness to explain what they were doing and why. They worked on half the downspouts on my house. They showed me how to install cleanouts as they were doing them, and I was able to put cleanouts on the others without any problems based on their instructions. They were careful to install plastic sheeting from the inside worksite to the outside and left no mess. They were also very neat in the yard. They first took out the sod in squares and put it aside before digging the ditch. After filling the ditch, they replaced the sod and tamped it down even with the rest of the yard. After two days and a light rain, it was hard to tell that they had done anything. I walked around the neighborhood after the work was done and looked at the yard of a neighbor who had had similar work done. There was a significant difference between the appearance of my yard and that of the neighbor's. My only problem with the job was that when they were installing the drain line, they installed a very sharp elbow at the back corner of my house. When I saw it, I asked them to replace it since there was a high probability that it would plug up quickly in that location due to the leaves from a number of big trees near by. They said that they would replace it before they left. I was curious to see what they had done so I dug it up later. They had not replaced the elbow. I called Paul after I found the issue and he said that they would fix it the next day which they did. They said that they thought that they had fixed it before they left but obviously had not. It took only about 15 minutes to fix the problem. Again the workers who showed up were very friendly and courteous, and they apologized for the mistake..

My home was built in 1964 without a sump pump and I was starting to see wet spots in the concrete block walls. I sent an email to Rogers and Paul called the following morning and set up an appointment. It was decided to have new drainage tiles around the perimeter of basement and a sump pump installed. It was a very messy and hard job for the crew, but as a homeowner, I was very pleased with the work. To install new tile, the concrete floors had to be cut out around perimeter of basement, gravel and tiles were then brought in and new concrete to cover the tiles. This was done bucket after bucket, carried up the basement steps, thru the garage, to their trucks. The day the concrete came, we experienced a cold bitter day with rain and snow. The concrete was wheel barreled from street to garage and then transferred to buckets to be carried to basement. The garage floor, basement steps, and all belongings, had been covered and protected by the crew. The walls were treated for any mildew and then painted where damaged. They even went into my crawlspace and treated some mildew. The work was completed in two days with my complete satisfaction. Paul and the men who worked here stood behind their word 100%. They are pleasant to work with, prompt, and very respectful of your home. I will definitely recommend them to family and friends.

Paul Boeriu did the initial analysis and was professional and accurately nailed the source of the problem. We had a small leak in one of the basement walls that walls and it was unclear what was causing the problem. Paul quickly established that the discharge lines from the downspouts were clogged - apparently the builder used cheap corrugated pipe for the downspouts which were being clogged. For added safety he made a route for the water from the wall to flow to the sump pump. Since his job the basement has been bone dry -- the dehumidifier hasn't run since July 2013. I recently asked Paul to evaluate the basement of another property we are purchasing. Paul showed up on time and found there weren't any problems. Great service. Highly recommend - ask for Paul to be your point of contact.

This was the most professional operation that I have seen. Three guys worked outside and three worked inside. They were very professional and nice to work with. You would not even know the work was done as they put topsoil down as well and the end product was great. They job was done great and the new pump is quiet and works very well. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: They came and installed steel i-beams in about a wall and a half in my basement. They cleaned out my sump pump and they did a replacement of that system. On the outside area he did excavation work in the area where the sump pump piping was outside and they dug all that piping out and they replaced that as it was backing up. He repaired concrete as some of the area was badly eroded and they patched that with a cement type material.

I couldn't be more thankful for his professionalism and knowledge! He explained that this was a common issue in the winter, showed us how to clear it up and that was that. There was no wall tearing down or anything.
