Do NOT use Bob Ruhl for anything. We hired him for several different landscaping projects: 1. Install a culvert in the front yard. The work was sloppy, and the coverage over the culvert poorly done, and we had to add additional ground cover to cover-up his bad work. Lastly, he cut a drainage pipe, and never told us about it. For years we had a soggy yard, and after different utilities dug up our yard we discovered the cut pipe. A lot of extra cost for us. 2. He built a landscape wall and used insufficient stones to hold the earth behind the wall. Two years after the wall was built it started falling. I called him several times, and he wanted to charge me to fix his lousy work. I had to rebuild the wall several times. Finally we spent thousands to have the wall redone. 3. He wanted to charge 15% to guarantee the plants. I've never heard that before. But not surprisingly several of the plants and one of the trees died not long after his work was done. 4. The one and only thing he did right was building a stone stairway down the side of our house to the lower level. Do NOT use Bob Ruhl1

The LAST person on earth you want to do business with. Don't believe me; ask for references from previous jobs. He did everything wrong with the exception of painting one wall correctly. All windows were installed incorrectly, all electric work needed to be redone since it was not up to code. The paint fell off the walls. Everything was late. He later declared bankruptcy to keep me from suing him after stealing over $15,000. Did not pay his subcontractors who put mechanic liens against my property. He took insurance money up front and never completed the work. Bathrooms left unfinished. Countertops never installed. Tried and plumbed a wet bar for a room without permission leaving me with pipes sticking out of the wall. He should never be allowed to even drive a single nail. I am still finding things wrong 20 years later. It has and will cost me over $100,000 to redo and undo his "work". He is purely evil and the biggest crook I have ever seen. If you are dumb enough to hire him, you will rue your decision every day for the rest of your live.

Right upfront I told the contractor that my husband and I are both perfectionists which he replied saying that the work would be perfect. The contractor was three weeks late to get started since he couldn't get the proper permit on time. I ended up having to pay for the permit myself to speed up the process. Work finally started and lasted from mid May until August but within that amount of time a little over 3 weeks of labor was actually done. When work started there were several items that were ordered and they were either scratched, warped or broken so we had to get them replaced which delayed the work process. A door underneath the stove area came up missing. I think one of the contractor's trash men threw it out and so the contractor had to reorder one for us. Some of the flooring we had delivered for our kitchen was scratched and warped. We also had to have the floor pulled up because the contractor couldn't get it leveled initially. Now it just feels like walking on cobblestone. I also got a lazy Susan but the wrong one so that had to be reordered. We had pod lights installed in the kitchen which I thought were going to be blocked by the cabinets that were ordered as well which ended up happening. I advised the contractor about the cabinets blocking the pod lights. For my bathroom its contemporary so I had a color palette of white and grey so I wanted black counter tops. The contractor ended up bringing brown ones which made me feel that he wasn't paying attention to our detailed requests. Other than that the contractor had sub contractors did a great job with the drywall, electrical and plumbing work.

We had used his services before. I liked that I was trying to get this done in a certain amount of time and he got it done in four weeks and on time. I liked that he has a lot of connections so he got the best prices for us. I liked that he is so good at designing and had great suggestions. If something was not going right he would fix it and made the whole experience practically stress free.
