Mitchell Rush did good work promptly, at a fair price, on the exteriors of four of our properties. He brought up additional problems with the structures that he found while working, but always consulted before doing work beyond the original scope. The work included rebuilding a box gutter, touch-up painting, rebuilding the steps of a back porch, and removal of a wooden arbor.

Contacted 7 companies for our project. 3 came out and gave estimates. We wanted our deck to have sturdy posts which was not done when deck was built 10 years ago (it is a small deck so never thought about it until the railings started coming loose). Mitch was the lowest estimate. He added 8 posts, new stairs and cap on the railing. He was very professional and communicated everything. He even called the night before the job to make sure we remembered he was coming the next morning. He had a helper with him, John, who also did a great job. We are going to hire him again to stain our fence later this year.

It went extremely well. Mitchell is polite, responsible, and highly competent -- a pleasure to work with. We were very pleased with the work, and the price. Mitchell not only did quality work; he also saved us a lot of money. A garage company came to look at the half-broken garage door, proclaimed it to be too heavy, and said we needed a new door for $2000. Mitchell said that he could make the existing door work. And he did. A painting company said they would scrape and paint the garage for $2000. Mitchell said that he and Brian could do so for far less. And they did. In fact, they did a lot more -- including replacing rotting wood and a crushed gutter section, putting a new "facing" on the front of the garage, patching the roof to stop leaks, etc. -- all for $2750, materials included. I figure that Mitchell saved us at least $2000, if not more, compared to what the "specialist" vendors had quoted. Mitchell seems to interact with his customers on more of a trust basis. While we went over the items he was going to handle, he did not give me a punch list that set out those items. And he did not want to provide a binding estimate, since he works by the hour. However, when I created my own punch list and presented it to him, he was on board with it. And when I pushed a bit for an estimate, he was willing to define a "not to exceed" limit where he would check with me before going beyond. His invoice ended up coming in several hundred dollars below that estimate. Mitchell is a nice person and highly dependable. He says that he "can do just about anything where houses are concerned," and I believe him. I will be calling Mitchell first for my future handyman and home repair jobs. I recommend him very highly.
Description of Work: Mitchell Rush and his assistant Brian repaired and painted my 1927 garage. They replaced a crushed gutter, replaced rotting wood, patched the roof to stop leaks, purchased and installed a new door opener, scrapped chipping paint, painted the entire garage and garage door (two coats plus primer), built and installed a new "facing" around the door to improve appearance, installed weather stripping on the door, replaced several of the door windows, built and installed a three-foot section of fence that needed to be replaced, cleaned all the leaves from the gutters, and removed soil from around the garage so that it was no longer touching the wood. Essentially, they took an antique garage that was starting to fall apart, badly needed a paint job, and had an only half-functional door, made it work again and gave it new life.
We contracted with Mitchell to do a lot of renovation in a home we purchased. He is a jack of all trades and can do just about anything. I had to literally keep him from doing everything so he could focus on the things we needed the most. He remodeled two bathrooms and one was from scratch as we tore out everything including a 20 year old soaking tub and shower. He also installed hardwood in the master bedroom and dining room. There were a lot of things that he did but too many to list. Since this was a new home we found many things wrong and Mitchell would fix almost immediately. It was great having someone so knowledgeable around for the first few months of owning the home. He seemed to truly care about things working right and our family being happy. You won't find anyone that works harder than Mitchell. He is working constantly and never seems to slow down. Rather than having five different contractors working on electricity, plumbing, floors, bathrooms etc.. we were able just to have one with Mitchell since he knows all of that.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel. Hardwood floor installation. Framing room in basement. Replacing screens on porch. Light fixtures/ceiling fans. Replace doors in home. Painting.

Having interviewed several contractors from Angie's A List: handymen, carpenters, Heating/cooling, flooring, general contractors, etc. I choose Restoration Plus after meeting with Mitchell Rush. Mitchell gave me a thorough and honest assessment of the work I needed and didn't need. He demonstrated knowledge, understanding and straight talk, and convinced me that he could do all the items on my to-do list for transforming, within 6 weeks, a fixer upper home in Gahanna with a Mother in Law suite into a suitable home for my 97 yr old grandmother, her caregivers, and myself. Finding a single contractor qualified to do all the varied work made the whole project much simpler. Mitchell did all the work with professionalism and efficiency, from plumbing to electrical, carpentry to flooring, big stuff, little stuff. He knows how to do anything, possesses seemingly every conceivable tool, and is willing and able to perform any task needed. He was punctual, said what he'd do, did what he said, and provided regular invoices detailing all work performed with receipts attached for all supplies and materials purchased. When my own projects got into trouble, he was eager to lend a hand, sometimes off the clock, and do in a few minutes what would have taken me hours. Along the way, he taught me how to do things and consulted whenever I had a new issue or project. It was nice having Mitchell around for the weeks in August and September, as I could and did call upon him to help with all sorts of things that needed to be done to get this house in shape. Restoration Plus's flat hourly rate business model means that their estimates and prices are not inflated by fudge factors to account for unknown or unknowable work. Thus, they are very price competitive. In fact, the final cost of my project was 50% less than the average of the competing estimates. Mitchell provided additional savings by providing to me all needed equipment and supplies at contractor cost. Mitchell's business model also means that it might not be known precisely how long a task might take, especially if there are task unknowns that would appear only after the work started. However, the expense of an unexpectedly extended task was reduced by the fact that Mitchell knows how to do most anything, has experience doing most everything, can get out of any predicament encountered along the way, correct for any surprises, and to do so quickly and efficiently. I feel that I got my money's work. In fact, I feel that I got a great bargain. A contractor using this flat rate business model but not possessing Mitchell Rush's knowledge, experience, know-how, energy, efficiency and integrity might run up a homeowner's bill quite easily and quickly. Mitchell Rush and Restoration Plus provided easily demonstrable value. The house looks great and I now have someone I can call upon who can do any task I can come up with.
Description of Work: Restoration Plus performed the following services for about $12,000. Equipment, materials, and supplies were an additional $13,000. They were OK. The work they did was great. It looks really nice and they had some really good suggestions on handles and knobs. The price was reasonable, but they tended not to protect the areas that they were not working on. The tile to the side got kind of messed up, some stain dripped on other panels, and the window got some scratches.
Description of Work: They were doing bathroom restoration. They stripped the cupboards behind and to the side of the sink and refinished it. They redid the panels around the window. They also stripped and redid one side of a door.

Mitch works on an hourly basis and does not like to give a bid per job. I found him and his helper to be extremely professional and they did a great job. I never saw them not working and I didn't feel as though they billed me for hours that they did not work. He kept me informed and is very detail oriented. I am very pleased with his quality of work.
Description of Work: Mitch rebuilt my porch from the foundation up. I have an old home and the porch railings and columns needed replace. The porch is covered and originally had a second level deck that was removed before I bought the house. He milled most of the wood himself and recreated the look and detail of the original porch including the second level. He also did some electrical work and replaced a door.

Mitchel was very responsive. He wanted to make sure the job was done well. While the total amount was over the original estimate, there were damaged areas not externally visible requiring a little more time and money - but this was a known possibility from the onset. Being early spring - he made sure the wood was primed and in some areas painted to my desired color at installation, to preserve the life of the wood and make spring painting easier on me. He came back after the job to ensure there were no leaks in the box gutter. When a small one was noted, he fixed it that day (free of charge) and said he would come back if any additional leaks were noted. There have been none. He did a very nice job.

I APPRECIATED MITCHELL TELLING ME HE WAS OVERWHELMED AND COULD NOT ADD ANOTHER JOB AT THIS TIME. I ALSO APPRECIATED THAT HE WENT AHEAD AND REFERRED ME TO ANOTHER COMPANY THAT HE TRUSTED. I HAVE A LOT OF FLOORS TO REFINISH AND SOME MORE CARPENTRY WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED. I WILL CERTAINLY CONSIDER THIS COMPANY IN THE FUTURE.
Description of Work: I CALLED FOR AN ESTIMATE TO REFINISH MY HARDWOOD FLOORS. MITCHELL CALLED BACK AND POLITELY APOLOGIZED THAT HE WAS TOO BUSY TO DO ANY WORK RIGHT NOW. HE GAVE ME THE NAME OF ANOTHER COMPANY TO CONTACT. HE REPORTED THAT THIS WAS A COMPANY HE TRUSTED AND TO TELL THEM HE HAD REFERRED ME TO THEM. HE AGAIN APOLOGIZED AND ASKED THAT IF I NEED SOMETHING IN THE FUTURE, TO PLEASE CALL HIM AGAIN.

MITCHELL RUSH DID EXCELLENT WORK. HE COMMUNICATED WELL THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS. HE WAS VERY PROMPT AND HAS AN OUTSTANDING WORK ETHIC. THE STAIR PORTION OF THE PROJECT WAS MORE CHALLENGING THAN EXPECTED, BUT HE KEPT A VERY GOOD ATTITUDE. HE DID SOME OTHER SMALL PROJECTS DURING THE COURSE OF THIS MAJOR PROJECT. HE WAS VERY PROMPT IN RETURNING TO FIX A PROBLEM WITH THE FINISH THAT HE USED ON THE TILE. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH POSITIVES ABOUT HOW RESPONSIVE, COURTEOUS AND NICE HE WAS TO WORK WITH. I WISH EVERYONE THAT I HIRED WORKED LIKE MITCHELL. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMENDED USING MITCHELL RUSH AT RESTORATION PLUS FOR REMODELING PROJECTS.

HE WAS THE BEST! HE SHOWED UP EXACTLY WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD, HE STAYED LONGER AND CLEANED UP. HE'S ALWAYS BEEN AVAILABLE WHEN WE CALL AND HE'S A REAL COOL GUY. HIS PRICES WERE VERY FAIR FOR THE AMOUNT OF WORK HE DID. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM, HE WAS GREAT! HE EVEN WOULD COME IN EARLY TO GET STARTED ON WORK AND HE MADE SEVERAL FOLLOW-UP CALLS TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS OK.
