R & J GUTTERS LLC

They were supposed to come out last Wednesday. I received a call well after the appointment time telling me that they were having truck problems. We rescheduled for Friday. No one showed up and no one ever called me back.

I contacted Jeff at R & J gutters for a quote on Friday 3/04/16 and his guys were at my door on 03/08/16. They were knowledgeable and explained everything that would be involved and provided a reasonable quote . On Monday 03/14/16 a crew of 4 men showed up including Jeff, the owner, who began hand digging for the new PVC underground drains. All of the dirt and sod removed from the trenches was placed on tar paper to keep damage to the mature lawn to a minimum. The new pipe was installed and the dirt returned to the hole and the sod was reinstalled. They also installed new gutters and downspouts and tied the whole new drainage system together in one neat package. Plantings that had been moved during construction were replanted and although the whole appearance is not exactly as it was, it certainly is a 100% improvement over the condition the previous company left it in several months prior. As a side note Jeff left for another job later in the day and called on 03/15/16 to say he wasn't satisfied with the pictures his crew sent him and he returned to have them remove the sod and pack down the soil before reinstalling the sod. a much neater appearance is the result. I would have to say that except for doing it myself I would rate R & J as one of the best contractors I've had the pleasure to work with. Good people doing quality work and a reasonable price

Jeff, his step son Robert, and his team were absolutely superb. My 9yr old original gutters were not handling the volume of water needed for my steep roof an many valleys. Overflow problems in heavy rain and long icicles in the winter were a common occurrence. The overflow in one area even caused damage to a stucco window bump-out. So I had had enough... I got the stucco repaired by Hilliard Wall Systems (and they were AWESOME!!). So, next I had to address the root cause - the gutters. The owner at Hilliard Wall Systems had the owner of R & J Gutters, Jeff Powers contact me. Jeff came to the house and we discussed the problem gutters and toppers. Jeff was very patient with me and we discussed several options. He prepared an estimate outlining the cost of each option. In the end, I decided to just replace all of the existing stuff and start fresh (out with the old and in with the new). Jeff and his crew got the job done in 2 days and did a great job with all of the many custom cuts and angles my roofline needed including designing a more efficient water flow pattern from the upper gutters to the lower gutters by creative placement of downspouts and connecting them between the uppers and lowers. I also had new gutter toppers put on (my house borders the woods with many large oaks, maples and hickory trees) and the second story is about 30 feet or more - so gutter toppers were a necessity for me. Jeff recommended Leaf Relief (25yr warranty - no clog, no overflow) gutter toppers and those were installed as well. While walking the yard doing cleanup after the first day's work, Jeff noticed a large wet spot from a rain several days ago. He asked me about it and I told him that the downspout in the back goes underground, but stops right about where we were standing. After a little hunting, I found the drain outlet and Jeff took a look and it was clogged and had water in the pipe almost all the way to the downspout on the house. So, Jeff had his crew flush and clean the drain for me the next day. He also discussed with me a permanent solution for the wet ground issue proposing a collection drain and some additional underground piping to carry the water off the property. How's that for professionalism and going the extra mile? That will be my next project with Jeff. On the second day, the team finished the job and custom engineered some gutters for the tight areas on either side of the stucco window bump-out and installed some appropriately sized and strategically placed splash guards to further ensure my stucco would not get damaged again by water flow. Jeff, as the owner, was personally on-site both days - not only supervising but also assisting his crew with the install. He kept me fully informed throughout the process and did a walk around with me at the completion of each day. Jeff, Robert and the crew were very professional, courteous, prompt and skilled. I am so very pleased with the end result that words can barely describe. There is a saying that if you want something done right - do it yourself. Well that saying can be retired. When it comes to gutters, if you want something done right - call R & J Gutters. They are OUTSTANDING !!

The work was completed per the agreement. All of the associates working were professional and polite answering my questions as the day went by. The areas dug up were quite large. When the work was completed you could not tell that any area in the yard had been disturbed. Everything was back in place with no holes or areas that looked as if they had been excavated. The replaced concert looks great. The drains worked well during the storm. I was extremely pleased with the professionalism and the expertise provided by R & J Gutters LLC. I highly recommend this company.

Most horrible experience we have had with any contractor. Charged $250.00 for 15 min work which he originally described as taking 2-3 hours. His staff did not show up on time and finally I had to cal them 1.5 hours after the time given. After the job was done, he took absolutely no responsibility or gave no guarantee that the problem was fixed. The owner Jeff is extremely rude and has no manners how to talk to women. Will NEVER, ever use this contractor again or recommend him to anyoe.

They arrived on time, went to work, did the job, collected their check and left. No problems, no issues. They were professional.Good crew working for RJ.

We were attracted to R & J Gutters because of its excellent ratings on Angie's List. Our experience with this company does not support those high ratings. The R & J Gutters company owner came to our house in late June and gave us an estimate for some repair work to our gutters and facia boards. Our first impression was that the owner was knowledgeable and conscientious and we accepted his written proposal for the work. Based on when R & J's work was scheduled for the gutter & facia board repairs, we made an appointment with a painting company to do some exterior painting. Several days before the work was to begin, we called R & J Gutters to confirm the schedule and to remind the owner that he had told us he would send out on our job a very experienced worker, whom he had mentioned to us by name at the time he was writing up our estimate. There was a 1-day delay due to rain (understandable), then on the following morning when the workers were supposed to show up the owner left us a voice mail saying that he was not going to do our job. This has really left us in the lurch because now we have to find a new gutter repair person during the busy season. It also means we have to inconvenience our painting contractor by rescheduling their work. We are very disappointed with R & J Gutters.

Good overall experience

They did well and it was a small job. They did the work as promised and for the quoted price and also in a timely manner. They were very competitive in terms of their pricing.

I had to wait a week, but he came when he said, exactly on time. He came in and did the job as he said he would. I was happy.
