The two workers who came out to my house were Clean Fiends! The mold didn't stand a chance with those two. I am so glad that the mold is finally out of my house. I will be forever grateful to the crew for finding and attacking the problems in this house. I look forward to breathing clean air! The problems began with plumbing issues, which were addressed by a different company. A leaky toilet and a leaky bathtub on the second floor caused mold problems in the second floor bathroom and the downstairs bathroom ceiling and walls. I am grateful to the plumber who was finally able to diagnose and fix those problems. Another source of the mold came from the wall area surrounding the shower head. That wall had been built with regular drywall instead of water resistant drywall. The wall around the showerhead had to be removed. The tile flooring around the toilet had to be removed. In the first floor bathroom the entire ceiling had to be removed, including a portion of the wall. The clean team came out and spent an entire day removing all the really gross mold, hauling multiple trash bags full of icky stuff, washing down the internal wall and ceiling areas with disinfectant, then painting affected areas that could not be removed, like the wood joists and framework of the internal walls, hepa-vacced the entire work areas, and then washed the surface areas again. They used a HEPA scrubber while doing all the work and then left the scrubber overnight to help clean the air in the house. These guys worked hard. This is a dirty job. I was worried about my allergies and asthma, but I also worried for the workers that have to do this job everyday. So far, the "day after," my allergies and asthma are contained, but my head really hurts!! If you have allergies and asthma, take your meds before the cleaning crew comes in. I took double doses of everything, before, during, and the day after the mess. So far, so good. I'm not coughing and sneezing, yet! But I have a headache which is part mold, part cleaning agents, and part migraine. If you can, open up your house, doors and windows, during the mold removal process. Afterwards, run the "house fan" with doors and windows open, to circulate clean air. If you can, do this on a good weather day. By the way, the next phase of the project requires an electrician and, then after that, the drywaller comes in and gets to put everything back where it belongs and will also do the painting in all work areas.
Description of Work: Removed molded ceiling, walls, tile flooring. Washed areas with disinfectant. Painted affected areas with mold resistant paint. Ran HEPA scrubber in all work areas. Washed surface areas after all other work was done. Left scrubber overnight after work was done in order to clean the air for another 24 hours. Bagged all debris and removed from home. HEPA-vacced the work area.

Communicated by email. Prompt. Came the next day I called. Air test was done inside and out. Results fed exes to lab. Results the next day. Only issue was that they implied when the wall came down that they would repair it. They don't they recommend someone that they work with on a regular basis and he would have to give me a estimate as to what it would cost. Not a problem, but I thought they could have at least told me that at the beginning.
Description of Work: Checked a wall in my tv room for mold. Said didn't seem too serious recommended a air test. Took air test two days later and now have to have the wall treated and drywall repaired. Will have that service after the holidays. Not pushy.. If I ever wanted to sell I'd have to have it treated and fixed anyway.

Tony put a rush on the mold lab tests so we knew what we were dealing with quickly. The mold types were fortunately not some awful black mold or anything, but they were obviously a problem for me because I had come down with walking pneumonia after sleeping in that apartment for a few nights with the heat on. So after determining the mold strains were not horrendously toxic we determined we were able to keep our things. We threw away all cardboard and put our things in rubbermaid tubs when we moved out. I washed all our clothes in a laudromat using borax mixed with detergent. I used the Concrobium Mold Control to wipe down everything I could, and I got some Biocide Room Shockers (clorine dioxide foggers) off Amazon, which got the smell out of our fur coats and other porous items. We're still going to hepavacuum the furniture before we move into our next place, then do some more room shocking to make sure. But already all the smell is gone. When we bagged our clean laundry in ziplok space bags we put dessicant packs in them to dehydrate them, and we are using damprid to keep the humidity low in our storage unit. So everything should be salvageable! :) :) Tony was such a huge help in determining exactly what mold we were dealing with and getting us moving in the right direction for remediation of our things. Steph and I would definitely hire him again if we ever need help with a mold issue of any kind.
Description of Work: Took tape sample of mold in furnace and had lab tests conducted to determine the types and concentrations of mold present. Evaluated our possessions for mold risk and advised to discard all cardboard and items that could absorb spores or vacuum with a HEPA (depending on the lab tests), and to use Concrobium Mold Control to wipe down all hard surfaces to kill spores.

They came back to recheck the progress and to remove the equipment according to my schedule, which was great. Everything dried out properly and we have had no issues with the work that was preformed.
Description of Work: The provider came in and tore down ceiling and removed carpet after a water leak that had been going on for two days. They put in dehumidifiers and heat fans to dry the area that extended from the first floor to the basement. The technicians were polite and efficient.

They originally gave an estimet. Then they discovered additional leaks, but they did not raise the price. They were very professional helping us track down the leaks from different sources. This was not their job, but they helped us anyway. I was very happy with the way they did their job, and I would use them again and recommend them to others.

My wife called Puroclean when we discovered water in our basement after a heavy rain in mid-August. They were very prompt in coming out to our home and assisting us in finding the entry point of the water as well as taking moisture and humidity readings in our basement. Mold was discovered while they were in our basement. After helping us clear the basement, they set up a mold containment barrier in our home, they removed the dry wall and sprayed an antimicrobial chemical to kill the mold, and then brought equipment in to dry the air in our basement. The owner, Mike Martin, is very passionate about the services that his company provides and was more than willing educate us about the mold remediation process.

Thank you for your feedback. The floor joists in your crawlspace had a covering of mold on them that we cleaned with an antimicrobial cleaning agent. There were two technicians there working in a confined space so I am sorry you feel you were billed too much but there is anti-microbial cleaning agent costs, labor costs, air scrubber and fogging that went into this. I provided the estimate and described the work entailed before we began which you approved. Again, thank you for your feedback, Rick

During the major storm on Tuesday the 14th of July several inches or rain fell in a short time which overwhelmed the system causing my sump to pump water up through my kitchen. The water was all over my kitchen, and ran down the stairs and through the floor into the finished basement. I was on the phone with the people at Puroclean based on my insurance agent's recommendation on the way to my house, and I left a message. They called back within an hour. I was clearing up the major puddles, but was concerned about water in the electrical works, walls, my dishwasher etc. The people at Puroclean were busy with other calls after all the rain, and said they would contact me back to get someone out. They called the following morning and said they should be able to get me on the schedule, but were not able to send anyone until the 13th. I was worried about the potential damage that might happen from things remaining wet, but it turned out ok in the end. The smell from the wet surfaces sitting for a couple days was getting bad, so I am happy they were able to come when they did. The guys that came Thursday morning got right to work, sprayed some antimicrobial agent (that smelled very nice and reduced the odor from the wet stuff immediately). They checked out everything and tested the stuff in the basement and informed me that since there was no insulation behind the drywall, they could try it instead of doing a tear out. They left fans and a huge dehumidifier to dry things out and scheduled to come back and check the following day. They arrived the following day and moved some things and added a couple more fans. They decided they needed to remove the baseboards in order to create some holes to better circulate the air. The recheck was done on time and quickly so I was able to plan my day. I appreciated that they were flexible with my scheduling. We did another recheck the following day that went just as smoothly. On Sunday, the tech arrived to remove the final fans and dehumidifier. He rechecked that things were dry. All in all the people at Puroclean were very nice to work with, it has been a couple of weeks and everything is in order - no smell or discoloration occoured as a result of the water. It appears everything has been dried and returned to the way it had been. I did have to replace my dishwasher, but the Puroclean guys at least sucked the pooled water out of it so it wouldn't smell up the house while I took care of that.

Despite their busy-ness due to this wet summer, Rick made time in his schedule to come take a look at our basement. He was quite thorough, and open about what could be done and what we had already done... and that WE REALLY DIDN'T NEED THEIR SERVICES! It is nice to know there are folks out there who'll talk sensibly, and not just take on a job when it's not necessary. Rick saved us some $$ and time, and set our minds at ease about the proper course of action.

Everything went very well. They were always there when they said they would be. The job completed was thorough and professional. We had other estimates. They all wanted to cut away large pieces of drywall to confirm there was no other locations. Puroclean was able to view the areas without cutting away drywall, thus saving us hundreds of dollars and time. Their cost was almost $500 less than the next closest estimate. I would highly recommend this provider.

OBSERVATIONS & SUGGESTIONS The entire job was accomplished by two workers, and these two people worked like fiends! The entire job took up most the day, about seven hours. They just dived in and worked like crazy. I was really happy that after all the work was completed that they washed down surface areas and ran the HEPA VAC, and they left the HEPA scrubber overnight. They also sealed off the kitchen area from the work area. If you have allergies or asthma, make sure you take your meds before the work begins. I had to double up on doses for several days. If you can, open doors and windows and try to keep fresh air moving through the house. Ask if the company has some clean plastic sheets to spread over furniture, like the sofa and chairs and TV. Remove everything from the work areas, which in my case were the two bathrooms. Because the kitchen is close to the work area, I cleared the counter tops and stuffed everything in the kitchen drawers and cupboards. I removed everything from the bathrooms and stored contents in the bedrooms, which we closed off. I left out hand soap and paper towel rolls and enclosed bathroom tissue in zip lock bags to prevent contamination. There will be a fine layer of dust afterwards, so you may have to use a wet wash cloth to dust surfaces, but if you prepare ahead of time, this is much easier to deal with. My ONLY concern was for the health of the workers. They wore a face mask over the nose and mouth, but I don't think that is sufficient. They really ought to be required to wear hazmat suits and respirators. Think of what it is like to work in a small enclosed space with no access to fresh air. The mold smell is overpowering, and the disinfectant is strong, and the mold inhibiting paint smells awful. Once again, keep your doors and windows open. Make it as safe as possible for the workers by removing your personal stuff out of the way where they must work. The two workers are just the nicest people and such hard workers, but I honestly feared for their health. The work is hot and dirty. The company does a wonderful job, but the workers are not properly outfitted with suits and respirators. Do they do a good job? Yes! Is the health and safety for workers sufficient? No.

I am sorry you are upset with the cost of the inspection. However, I also did a mold sample, sent it to a lab for analysis, and deducted that inspection fee from the mold remediation estimate. The lab processing fees are not free. You indicated that you wanted the mold tested and the results were positive for mold. I also found mold in other areas of your home that were not found by the home appraiser. Best regards, Rick

I've used PuroClean before in our old house and referred them to friends. They were very prompt. Luckily, I was home when this happened so I got the water turned off, buckets in place and called them immediately. In our last house it had rained down through a chandelier onto the dining room table and had damaged some wood trim around the ceiling in the dining room. The dried it out, cleaned it up and had their contractors fix all the drywall and trim. This time they came to dry out the area once we had Waterworks fix the clog and get the water draining properly. When I came back into the foyer to check on the work, the entire foyer was covered with chunks of drywall, drywall dust and splashes of water. The guy doing the work had not covered my dark hickory floors with anything prior to cutting open the ceiling and pulling out some wet insulation. I told him he needed to hang plastic between the doorways to keep all of the drywall dust from getting all over the adjacent dining room and main floor (which it had already done). He said he could hang a trash bag (he had a few on the floor which covered about 1/16th of the foyer. Clearly, it was too late. My floors are wood planks so drywall dust was in every crack. I called the company and they said they would send cleaners. They did and my husband and I couldn't believe how bad they were. I had to be in and out to pick up kids from school etc.. when I returned, one of the ladies asked where she could dump her bucket of chemicals (cleaners in a bucket) and I showed her to the laundry room sink. I was concerned because I don't use harsh chemicals (nor should anyone) on the hardwood floors. She also showed me quickly the area (not at all clean but main chunks of drywall were up) and said she didn't know what else to do. It was a smeared mess. Basically, she used some cleaning chemicals and wiped in the drywall dust. I then realized she had also wiped my very irreplaceable dining room table, hallway table, piano etc? By far the mess was made so much worse by PuroClean. I spent the evening vacuuming, swiffering, using water/vinegar to try to get up the smeared in mess which definitely helped but I'll be using a toothpick to get the drywall out of the eased floor joints. PuroClean picked up their dryers on Saturday and I've not heard anything from them on fixing the holes they cut in the ceiling or any follow-up whatsoever. I've contacted the insurance company to try to find a contractor to come and repair not only the drywall/insulation but to look at the floors to see if they can find a way to get the g*** out. Sadly, they made a not great situation into a much worse one.
Description of Work: Our cleaning people flushed a toilet that was clogged and the toilet shuts itself off but they kept trying to flush it so it overflowed, the water wasn't turned off quickly and to top it off there was a drain clog somewhere along the way so both kids bathtubs started filling up. Eventually the water started coming down through the ceiling into the foyer. Huge mess. PuroClean was very prompt, we've used them before but unfortunately they ended up making the mess worse.

Hello [member's name removed] I am sorry things did not meet your nor my expectations for this claim. I didn't realize all your concerns regarding the cleaning from the cleaning ladies until I read your note. I spoke to the technician at the job and he realized after starting that he should have done a better job containing the debris. I thought things would be rectified by sending some of our cleaning crew but it appears they also did not do the best job. I asked my technician if you were happy with the additional cleaning and he said everything was fine. So I had the perception that all was well until reading your comments here. The cleaning agents that they use are not harsh or abrasive. Had I known you were unhappy with the additional cleaning effort, I would have taken more steps to make the situation better. Since this happens to be an insurance claim, we were relying on the insurance adjuster to review your claim before we have our contractor in touch with you to do the repairs. Apparently the claim process is not moving quickly either so we will have our contractor connect with you for repairs. I will also take additional actions to see if there is more we can do to improve this experience.

Rick Guthrop was professional. Gave quick accurate estimate. Work was done in a timely manner. Home has no evidence that it ever had mold. Fantastic work. The home was a bank owned property prior to purchase. The electricity was shut off, therefore the sump pump was not working. The entire 1200 sq ft finished basement had flooded due to rising water table; The home sat vacant for 4 years. What looked like an impossible job to us was easily remediated by Puroclean. For the amount of work needed I am amazed that it was so quickly and completely repaired. Puroclean removed all mold on the walls, removed damaged drywall, all the way down to the stud. Cleaned the furnace and all duct work, and scrubbed the air to make sure quality was good. This home is happily shared by a young family of 5, including a recent new addition. Puroclean made this home safe enough to bring a newborn home to.

They were great. They arrived as the plumber was completing the installation of my new sump pump. They first tried to dry out the carpet, but I asked them to remove it so I didn't have to worry about mildew and mold. The carpet in my cedar closet was completely saturated and the baseboards and one cedar plank had to be removed to dry out the room, a couple of other storage areas also had to have the baseboards removed, and the open area of the basement had carpeting that was wet in a number of places. They bagged and removed all the old carpeting, except for the stairs (so that we didn't have a problem with tack strips or splinters before the new carpet was installed.) They used many blowers and high powered humidifiers for several days to complete the dry-out process. They gave me the name of another vendor to reinstall the wood trim and cedar plank.

Rick was very professional. He sent me an estimate promptly and I will be setting up an appointment for services after the insurance adjuster comes out on the 27th. I will submit a more complete review after further services are completed. The job is complete. It was a long process on my part. Had to have a new roof installed to take care of one of the leaks that caused a mold problem. Then we had further mold damage on a lower level that was caused by ground water. That has been a difficult process. a lot of trial and error. The Proclean crew could not come back for remediation until we found the source of the problem. Rick or Tom kept in touch to see if they could help in any way. Once we found the source of the ground water Tom came back and finished the job. It was an hours drive for them to come. They were prompt and always cleaned up after each step. I am very satisfied with there work and would not hesitate to recommend them. After attempting to clean the carpet they took a carpet sample for lab analysis for the insurance company. Someone from their office called the same afternoon to get all of the insurance claim information so they could forward on the lab results.
Description of Work: At this point, all I've had done is an estimate.
