Most piano movers did not want to perform any job that would take them out of the city. I went to Angie s list. This was my first service used with Angie s List. (I had called a few others on some landscaping, but they never showed up to do the estimate.) Mr. Cortez and later, Debbie Cortez and I communicated through email. It was a long process (about 2 weeks) because I was waiting for information from my daughter if she was going to Korea when her husband was deployed or saying on base in Texas since she was in her final year of nursing. Once we determined she was staying we set a time and date for the move. The Cortezs arrived and proceeded to dismantle the piano for moving. Let me say that I toyed around with the idea of having my son-in-law come up with a few of his army buddies and move the piano, I m so glad I didn t. There is much more to moving a baby grand than I thought. They took apart the legs and other sections and wrapped each section in thick moving blankets and then labeled and wrapped those sections in plastic wrap. They had a special dolly for moving it and then secured each section in the truck. Their whole time at the house was about 20 25 minutes. Then they drove down to Ft. Hood. There they spent a little more time setting it up but it was still very quick. The price was obviously due to drive time. For a baby grand the charge was 95.00 per hour. I found out later that they had recently moved from Dallas to Austin but I was not charged for their drive time here or drive time leaving Ft. Hood. I was very impressed and happy with the move and would use them again. Just a side note, I could have bought her another better used piano for about 2 or 3 times the price to move it but this one had sentimental value. Also, the actual charge may have been a little less but I wrote a money order and said to keep any extra there was.
Description of Work: I needed to have a baby grand piano moved from my house in Irving, Texas to my daughter s home at the Ft. Hood military base in Texas.

I called the Dec. 20 and left a message on voice mail, but didn't hear from them until after Christmas. They sent me an e-mail, explaining they had been out of town for the holiday. I spoke to Deborah in their office, explained what I needed, she quoted me a price, and we scheduled a date and time. The day of service, Deborah called to let me know they were running late, but gave me a time frame that they would arrive. Unfortunately, they had my address wrong on their order, but finally found me. Mr. Cortez and his assistant, Robert, were both very personable. They loaded the items and followed me to the delivery location. The entire job was less than an hour and I was very pleased. The one quibble I have is they didn't leave an invoice upon payment, but said they would send it. So far, I haven't received it, even though I gave them my e-mail address. A minor detail, but something I will mention, should I need their services again.
Description of Work: Moved a bicycle, 13" TV and full mattress set from my apartment to another house.

The movers came on time and were very professional. This company represents good customer service in all areas. They were very punctual and took very good care of the furniture to be moved. They helped me by putting together a new table without an instruction booklet and new dresser and beds still in boxes from the manufacturer .It was wonderful to see a company so willing to help their customers. I am very grateful that I found a professional and quality moving service. They are indeed someone that I highly recommend. The price is reasonable and the quality of their work is outstanding. I will hire them again and again to assist me in all types of moves. I had them come back and help me move a patio set from Walmart to my home. They moved it and it put together in record time.
Description of Work: Cortez Contractor moved furniture that I had in my downstairs living area upstairs. When I say furniture it was actually 1 sofa bed, 2 couches, tables lamps and bedroom furniture. I was in the process of remodeling the upstairs and thus had bought all new furniture that was left downstairs. Cortez moved the furniture upstairs and set it up for me. They even helped me hang heavy mirrors and pictures. They were very conscientious of the new paint and carpeting that was upstairs. They helped carry all the empty cartons and made my home livable after all the remodeling. I had them move furniture from JCPenney home office to my home again, they put the furniture together for me.
