I was given Steve's name and number by the previous owner of our home, who used him regularly (as did the owner before him). We had used one other slate roofer since buying the house, and were glad to have a backup. After a severe storm caused damage to our home, I called our "regular" roofer, but could not get anyone to answer the phone! Since we weren't willing to wait around to have the roof fixed (a tree had fallen on it and sheared off over a dozen slates and damaged our gutters), I called Steve. He answered and was not only willing to come take a look, but coordinated his schedule to line up with the visit from our insurance adjuster. We scheduled the work and he finished it in 2 days (he got rained out on Day 1, and had to come back). Apart from replacing the shattered tiles and fixing the box gutters, he added a new electric attic fan--a last minute request from us. (He did not wire it for us. He was clear that he didn't do that kind of work, and that was fine by us!) His work was top-notch and he was very responsive to any calls or messages. We can see why the last two owners of our home relied on him, and he will now be our go-to roofer. We would recommend him to anyone with slate; he works hard and is an honest guy!
Description of Work: -Replaced over a dozen slates and some metal border (the technical name for it escapes me), which were torn off the roof by a falling tree limb during a storm-Repaired box gutters, which were damaged by the same falling limb-Installed a new electric attic fan to replace the non-electric one previously situated in the roof

Description of Work: Steve was referred to me through a friend who also had roof work (slate tiles) done on his home. I had researched several local slate roof repair companies and then got a referral from a neighbor. Steve was on time, gave a full estimate of the work required and did an incredible job. The cost was extremely reasonable and I've used Steve for annual maintenance of the slate roof. He is a pleasure to work with. Competent, timely and absolutely professional.

Steve is incredibly hard working and takes great pride in his work. He was determined to build dormers that looked exactly like the original dormers (he matched the old dormers' molding and paint color). It took a while for him to schedule the work because he is in high demand, but once he starts a job, he is very efficient and wants to do a superior job. He starts working very early in the morning (like 6am - we had to ask him to please start at 7am instead) and he also phones very early in the morning (7am), but we felt lucky to have a carpenter with so much skill and expertise and very reasonable rates working on our house.
Description of Work: Earlier in the summer, Steve performed work on our tile roof (installing a copper ridge cap and replacing broken tiles). A few weeks ago, he built new wooden dormers and installed them above our exterior windows (the old dormers had rotted).

Was one of the very few people who will do soffit and fascia work on tall historic homes. Steve did a good job and worked quickly. He worked every day until the job was done and at a reasonable price. One other company wanted $5000 more for the same work.
Description of Work: Repaired soffits and gutters.
