Norman was a pleasure to work with and we were very pleased with the work that was done. He was very prompt to return phone calls and easy to communicate with. He worked with us to be sure that we were choosing plants for our landscaping that we would be happy with in the long run. He also followed up after the job to be sure everything was to our satisfaction. When we mentioned a few little things that we would like done differently (change the curve in the edging of a bed, prune a couple bushes back a bit further), he sent someone out the very next day to take care of these things. The people working with him were also very pleasant and everyone kept us informed of what was going on during the whole process. His price may run on the higher side, but we feel that it is well worth it because we feel confident that we can depend on him to back up his work should we have any problems in the future or not be satisfied with the outcome. We have also gotten wood from him twice in the past and it has been the best wood we have ever purchased and has always been stacked nicely (at the far back end of our lot - as we have requested!)

The wood they delivered had absorbed some water and was hard to burn. I talked to Norman about this and he apologized and delivered another load about 1/3 of the size of the 1/2 cord for me that was very burnable and he didn't charge me.

Nice hardwood but doesn't burn well. Have used them previously and wood burned well. Very professional & prompt with the call back to me.

Delivered and stacked a cord of firewood, promptly and on time. Can't comment (yet) on Quality, as the first arm-full of logs were wet and snow covered as I was not able to tarp before our rain/snow. Will update when I burn some dry wood.

It was spectacular! My front and side lawns were green-- but they weren't grass. A mix of crab grass and assorted weeds. The back area is heavily wooded and had been overgrown with brush honeysuckle, which we removed prior to this project. At our first visit, Norm listened carefully as I described what I wanted. He asked questions and made some suggestions, almost all of which we accepted. He prepared a bid right then. He provided references to work he had done for others.It is obvious he cares a lot about the quality of his work and his relationship with his customers. Work started when he said it would. I knew what was supposed to happen each day, and when to expect other trucks etc. When rain interfered, he communicated well to me new changes in schedule. They get an A+ on timeliness and communication. Norm was present every time his crew was, and often came by himself at other times to do prep work. All the men were hard working and professional in all their dealings with me. Because there was no real access to the back yard for larger equipment, there was a lot of hand work--shovels and wheel barrows. They kept a tidy work area. Some tools that were left here from day to day were always neatly gathered together at the end of the day. They were careful to close our gates when they left so I could let the dogs out. The site preparation took about a week. Once the grass was seeded and fertilized, Norm suggested what kind of sprinklers we should employ, and positioned the hoses and sprinklers for me. I appreciated the care with which he did this and the careful instructions he gave me about watering. He checked back at least weekly to see how the grass was coming in. After a couple of weeks, he hand raked to remove the deer tracks made in the soft muddy soil, and applied additional seed to the more sparse areas. As of this writing, the grass has come in and is a couple inches tall in most places and looks marvelous. There are still some areas of sparse growth, but they are not very large, and I expect by spring they will fill in. I really enjoyed working with Norm and heartily recommend them to anyone with a similar problem yard.

Called to confirm the order and delivered on a Sunday, also helped stack the wood even though I had not asked for the services prior to delivery.

Norman called ahead of time to confirm delivery. Delivery was on time, very friendly driver. The wood was very nice, split into uniform/manageable size. I have received firewood from other providers where I had to split the logs myself to make them usable.

What a great experience I had with Norm at Pitzer Landscaping! After setting up a time to deliver my wood, Norm called me the day before to confirm the delivery appointment. The wood was delivered when scheduled and placed right in the requested spot on my driveway. It was a generous amount of wood and all the logs were split and uniform in size. Norm called me a few days after delivery to follow-up. The first time I made a fire I had a hard time getting the wood to burn and called Norm to get his thoughts. He was back out to my house the next day to look over the wood. He traded out some of the logs which had become damp from all the rain we had that week with some dry logs. Norm then touched base with me again to follow-up and when we spoke he offered some suggestions on the best way to build a fire using the hardwood logs he delivered. I just moved into my house this year and this is my first home with a fireplace so his suggestions were much appreciated. I've been fortunate to work with some great folks through Angie's List but I must say that Norm's responsiveness and his upbeat, positive customer service are the best I've experienced. Norm went above and beyond to be sure I was pleased. I am extremely happy with Pitzer Landscaping and will use them again! Thank you Norm!

As said above, the timeliness was great. They arrived on time, as scheduled. The problem was, the wood is pretty wet and green. After burning a few batches in our fireplace, the wood produces a ton of smoke, pops and cracks, and hisses like crazy. We have a gas-assisted wood burning fireplace, and it struggles to get the wood lit. This is frustrating, because I do not believe $140 is the cheapest price around for 1/2 cord of firewood. We paid less last year from another gentleman, but thought of trying Pitzer this year because we had read the great reviews. Now, I must buy another 1/2 cord to get us through this winter to let this first batch continue to cure and dry out for next year's use. I'll also add that when i ordered the wood, I specifically asked if the wood was dried and properly cured. He was adamant that it was great wood that was ready to burn. The low score is simply product related, the delivery service was great. But, we are disappointed that the wood is not as dry as it should be. ***UPDATE*** So, not 12 hours after writing the above review I received a call from Mr. Pitzer. He was extremely apologetic, and admitted that perhaps the wood was pulled from the top of the pile and was still wet from heavy rains the area had been receiving. He was at my house within 30 minutes of the phone conversation with a pickup truck of new (dry) wood. He pulled the wet wood out of my garage, restocked the new wood, and even replaced the wood I had burned. Wow. I have now changed the ratings of this review to all 'A's, as this level of service recovery was quite impressive. I am sold on Pitzer landscape, and will be using them in the future.

Norman Pitzer and his crew did an outstanding landscaping job for us. He got right back to us and came over to give us a quote within two days. He had great ideas and really knows his profession. We have had many compliments:) We highly recommend him and his company.

nice folks! fire wood was delivered exactly when Norman, the owner, said it would be. Wheel barrow was used to get the wood to the back yard to protect grass. It was stacked well. Wood looks nice. size is just right! Thanks guys!

The service was great. They called the night before to confirm appointment.

The company owner came out to assess what needed to be done and give a cost estimate. He seemed to do a careful assessment, explained well what he thought the problems were, and suggested solutions. These were congruent with mine. His estimate was not the lowest of the three estimates that I obtained but I accepted it because his proposed solutions seemed adequate and our interaction was such that I felt I could work well with him. One of the provider's employees came promptly on the scheduled date to perform the job. He explained what was to be done and listened to the client's comments. He worked efficiently from morning till mid-afternoon when he called the client to examine the completed job. The job was very satisfactory, the soil in front of the house sloped down as requested so that rainwater would readily flow down to the lower ground. The area on the north side of the house similarly looked well-done. He did a good job of cleaning up afterwards and watered the re-seeded areas as well. Later that afternoon, after the employee had left, the company owner came by to inspect the completed job and to assess the owner's satisfaction. Months later, I called the company owner to say that the soil had settled and needed some re-filling and that in some small areas, the grass seed had not sprouted. He came out to see what needed to be done, then sent one of his employees to do it. The problem was corrected and though I was prepared to pay, the problems were resolved at no cost..

I have used them for the last three years. In the winter he delivers firewood. They deliver and stack it.

This is the best firewood I've ever received. I found Norman Pitzer through Angie's List and the ratings made my purchase decision easy. He's great to deal with.

The firewood was great quality and split in good sized to fit well in our fireplace. The staff was very professional and efficient.

Mr. Pitzer phoned the night before he was to deliver our firewood to confirm the time and price. He arrived promptly the next day and dumped one cord of firewood. It is terrific wood -- all hardwood with no rotten logs. The pieces are mostly straight with few irregular shapes and stacked easily. The wood is very dry and the quantity seems generous. It should be more than enough for the coming winter. Mr. Pitzer followed up with a phone call two days later to make certain we were satisfied. We are very happy and will certainly contact him again the next time we need firewood.

Norman was extremely knowledgable, professional and thorough. In addition, the work was done quickly and of high quality. Norman has stopped by several times since completion at his own will to check on things, touch up where needed and to provide instructions on how to best care for a new lawn. Will definitely use Pitzer again in the future.

We had Norm out 2 years ago for landscaping after we had a new driveway installed, he did a great job. This year we needed a refresh of the landscaping so we called Norm since we liked the work before. He drove by the house to take a look at what was needed and then called me back with a quote of what work should be done. He gave me an estimated date that they could do it which was in about 1.5 weeks, fine with me. But then the next morning his crew showed up at the house! They finished up a job early so could squeeze us in (our job was ~2 days), I was happy to have them out so promptly. The work was high quality, everything looks great. I plan on calling him back in the fall for a end of season clean-up.

It was pretty good wood at a good price. Everything was top notch.

We received telephone calls the day before to discuss delivery time and they were right on time as promised. All the wood was hard wood, split and cut for ease to stack.
