I called for an estimate on some repairs at my mother-in-law's condominium. My call was sent to voice-mail, so I left my contact information and a brief description of the work. I hoped to set up a time for someone to visit the condo and provide an estimate for the work. No one ever returned my call.
Description of Work: Dryer vent/duct repair, also repair of bathroom cabinet.

The guys came to my house. They were very friendly and nice. They were excellent. They were pretty responsive. The guy was here when he said he would be. I would say that’s excellent. I would use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used Honest & Trustworthy Handyman LLC to get an estimate. They quoted me a month ago. I wanted them get a locking closet dome in the small room of the basement and replacing faucet in the kitchen.

Everything went great as usual with HTH. I e-mailed Pat a couple of weeks before I wanted help to be sure he could fit me in, he called back and we talked about the job and he sent Chad over the very first day I had available so I wouldn't be held up on painting and so we'd have more days if something proved to be a bigger job, which was much appreciated. Chad was right on time, he had to make a couple of trips to Lowe's but he did the jobs in a good order so he could be working on something else while the mud on the walls was drying for a second coat. He was good at figuring out why the ceiling kept cracking and explained that in older houses ceilings were put up with nails, not screws, so are going to sag eventually.
Description of Work: I removed wallpaper in my living room and had holes in the walls that needed to be fixed before painting. HTH put drywall over the holes and patched the seams and caulked around the doors, windows & baseboards. There was also a crack in the ceiling I'd tried to fix but it kept coming back. Chad screwed some 2x4's into the attic joists to minimize movement, screwed the ceiling into the joists where he could and added a small board for support between the joists and patched that hole. He also put in a new kitchen faucet.

Great job and a very professional company.
Description of Work: Two gentlemen came to the house to fix a bathroom toilet. They had to go to store for the correct parts because the floor was also damaged and this was not apparent until the toilet came out. They showed me everything every step of the way and I was impressed with their effeciency and knowledge. Pat was excellent in scheduling and billing. I will use Honest and Trustworthy Handyman again for other projects.

I called the company either on a Thursday or Friday, and they had their service person at my home on Saturday morning (within 48 hours). He was scheduled to arrive at 11am and arrived early. He was very pleasant, friendly and professional. I showed him the various places on the walls that I wanted him to repair, and marked them off with post it notes. Then we looked at the bathroom door. He explained to me what he needed to do in order to fix the door and he explained to me what parts he would need to get. He informed me that this cost would be extra, but I had already been told this information on the phone prior to his arrival (in addition to the approximate cost of the job), so I expected that. I suggested a nearby hardware store to get the parts, but he told me they would be too expensive and he knew of a more reasonablly priced place to get the parts. He told me he'd be gone for 20-30 minutes, and he was exactly right. When he returned, he got right to work. He worked quickly and neatly. He was finished within about an hour and he cleaned up after himself. He had me sign off on the work. I asked him if I had to pay him, and he said no that they would send me an invoice in the mail. Then with a smile, he left. This company is AMAZING!! From beginning to end, I have nothing but good things to say about them. Being a single woman, I was a little skeptical of looking for a handyman because you never know who you will encounter and if they'll do what they actually say they will do. I HIGHLY recommend Punch Out Plus, and know that I will definitely be using their services again in the future!!

Chris was punctual, and even went out of his way to go back out to the hardware store to pick up additional items that I had not known to get for the install...I'm not a plumber...that's why I hired a handyman. Thank goodness Chris didn't seem to mind the extra step. He was even mindful to vacuum up any dust. Thanks again Pat and Chris for an excellent job.

The revamped foyer looks great. I've received numerous compliments on it and I owe it all to Pat and his crew. The wall covering in the foyer was a real chore due to the way it was installed. Once the covering was down, the walls were remudded, sanded and primed. The new paint was then applied and what a difference. The foyer and living room now look so much bigger and brighter. Once the walls were done it was obvious the tile would need to be replaced. The previous tile clashed terribly with the new paint color and not to mention the poor installation on the tile was brought to light by having a brighter foyer. Pat and the crew were pretty patient with me on the tile job. Between my work and not being able to decide on a tile, we had several reschedules. Did I mention Pat is really patient? Once I got the tile picked out I quickly got scheduled and the work was completed on time as scheduled. The tile pattern I had ended up going with was a bit of a challenge with the size of the foyer, but that did not in any way impact the installation schedule. There were (2) minor little issues that I called Pat on. There were resolved very quickly and were done in minutes and to my satisfaction. Pat is down to earth person, easy to work with, professional and yes patient. I can say the same about his crew. They came in, completed the work on time and took care while being in my home. I would not hesitate to hire them again. Which I might be on a front porch project next spring.
Description of Work: I have a bi-level home so the foyer area has some height to it. This foyer area had a textured wall covering on it that I had grown tired of. And the previous owners of the home had not properly installed this covering. It was going to be a real job to remove and I really didn't have the proper equipment to be able to reach most areas of the foyer due to the height. Along with the walls being redone, the tile that was in the foyer needed to be replaced due to not matching the new color scheme of the foyer walls. And the tile was dull and dingy and not very well installed. There are (2) areas in my foyer that have tile installed. The previous tile was old and dingy and no longer worked with the new paint

Pat was very prompt, climbed up on the roof, took pictures of the areas I wanted worked on and sent me an estimate. Once I told him to proceed, he scheduled the work, and showed up on time. Then he told me that he could do the chimney cap a different way that was cheaper and I agreed. Work went perfect, his associates were very efficient and his bill showed the money saved by doing the cheaper cap. He has set up the date when he will seal the concrete and told me I didn't have to pay for that until he actually completed the work.
Description of Work: They painted a couple high exterior places I didn't want to do, replaced a roof single, powerwashed, repaired, and put a new cap on the chimney.

Pat has been wonderful. Very detail oriented and helpful. My biggest, on-going challenge is my attic ventillation issue. He is first and foremost concerned with finding an option that is cost effective, but still effective. We are still working through some options and have done some inexpensive experiments which have helped but didn't fully solve things. I appreciate Pat's willingness to brainstorm and explore options, rather than jumping on the most expensive plan and pushing that.
Description of Work: Pat trimmed my downstairs bathroom, which was a challenge due to bowed walls which have been reinforced. He also removed and replace caulking the length of my patio where it meets the house. In the past, I have also had Pat do other work, including helping me with an attic ventillation issue. He has been wonderful about brainstorming options with my attic which is not well ventilated and poses many challenges due to the lack of a soffet.
Pat Scales is the guy you want for the job. He is exactly the name of his company: honest and trustworthy. He does what he says he's going to and he shows up when he says he's going to. His workmanship is exceptional, his integrity and professionalism is without competition. I could go on and on - certainly seemingly as if I get something out of it - which, I'm not. Fact is, by writing this I am cutting off my own nose - as word gets out he will be less and less available to do my work. I gutted and renovated a single family two story w/basement home in the University View neighborhood in 2008. Midway through I realized that, as a single (and slight of build) female, I wasn't going to be able to do as much as I thought with my own hands. I asked a friend who owns 6 single family rentals if she could refer a carpenter. She gave me Pat's number. Pat gave me a written estimate and when I was ready, he fit me in the schedule. He and his crew executed the work flawlessly, on time and within the original price quoted. I have been unable to write this until now due to the success of my rental and subsequent projects. But, I know that Pat is every bit as good now as he was in 2008. As a matter of fact, I am getting ready to secure a proposal for another $15k-$20k worth of work on my primary residence before the end of this year (2010). I am anxious that he will be too busy, but know that, if his number is competitive with the other two contractors, that I will select him over the others. He's that good.

I called Pat and left a message; he called me back the next day and made an appointment to do the work within a couple weeks. He charges a flat hourly rate, and over the phone, was able to give me an approximate number of hours needed. Pat called the day of the appointment to let me know he was running about 15 minutes late. He came in took a look at the work areas and started to work. He worked deligently to complete the tasks, cleaned up after him self, and his final bill was within his original estimate.
