+ 0 moreActually I have used them a long time and I just did not realize they were Angie’s List members until I joined. They are very conscientious and they do an excellent job. If for some reason they’re unable to start the job when they had planned to do it, they keep in touch. So they keep me in the loop. My husband wouldn’t do anything if he thought they were too expensive. He does not over pay when he gets good quality service.
Description of Work: I used Pacific Painting for interior painting. They also did tile flooring for me. So it was remodeling as well.

+ -1 moreThey were very good. They were attentive to our request. They were flexible and patient with us. They helped me pick up some colors; it took me awhile to make the decision but they were very helpful in making me make the decision. They even repainted the walls when they started painting then I don't like the color. They were always on time. They met our expectations correctly. Their price is reasonable and there were no hidden charges when we got started; it was just exactly what they said it would cost. They were fast; they came back after couple of weeks to clean up the floors because I noticed that there were some residue from the tape. They came back with no charge and clean it up. They were nice guys and they cleaned up after themselves. They didn't leave paint in our sinks.

+ 0 moreI was extremely happy with the quality and job that was done. I love the feel of the lacquer and protection it gives the cabinets. THey really feel like new. I definintely will use Alan again, as he also does renovation. I already have a few friends that want to have him come out and give a quote. He is really quick about giving a quote and his prices are really reasonable. His price was the best I had and I believe his quality of work to be the best.
Description of Work: Alan, Josh and Rachel were great. They painted and repaired my 25 year old Millers kichen cabinets, that originally were a washed oak, and had yellowed over the years. Also needed repair in some places, and matched a fake drawer in my huge center island where I had installed a new gas cooktop. The first day was spent prepping and sanding. I was amazed at all the prep work they did. I have an open kitchen with cathedral ceilings and they were able to put plastic up to the ceiling to keep out the spay, The floors and everyting were really well protected. THe second day they sprayed and painted. All doors and drawers were taken off to take to the shop to be done there. The 3rd day they came and took off alot of the protection plastic so I could use some appliance. THey then went back to the shop and worked on all my doors and drawers. They came on day 4, early, every day prompt at 8::30, and reinstalled all the doors and drawers. THey were done in less than half a day. THe paint ALan uses is a special lacquer, but u pick out the color. He can help if you need it. He was extremely professional,, as were Josh and Rachal. CLean up was amazing.

+ 2 moreEverything went very smoothly from start to finish. Allen & crew were punctual, professional and courteous. They were also very hard-working--the painting of basically an entire house was completed in about 2.5 days (including the entire hall/stairway needing repainted because we changed our mind on the color after the fact). Cleanliness was never an issue--they made sure to tape & drape everything before painting, and when they left for the day they cleaned everything up & you could hardly tell that they had been there. Installation of the french doors went smoothly, and only took 1-2 hours a day for 3 days to get it installed & stained to match existing doors/woodwork. Allen also patched an area of our ceiling that we found to be damaged after taking down an old light fixture, even though this wasn't in the original estimate.
Description of Work: Interior painting of 10 rooms and a hall/stairway; opening of a previously framed-in interior french doorway, with installation and staining of doors/molding/casing; patching & painting of a small area of ceiling where a previous light fixture had damaged the drywall.

+ -1 moreHe came, looked over the job, told me it was not too small (two kitchen installations in a 2-famliy duplex). Finally got the bid about 12 days later (reasonable price - around $7,000 for entire job). Then, I was only successful in making contact with him once. Beyond that, I got voicemail after 2 rings most of the time, but once or twice it rang 5-6 times, then was pushed over to voicemail. Was my job too small? I had contacted several contractors, including Allen, and was upfront about that. I thought I was pleasant. Once he answered and hung up on me, then later sent me email (without mentioning the hangup). Final grade: I suspect Allen is perhaps a diva. If you don't have a $20,000 job, maybe he's not really interested.
Description of Work: Had hoped to get a prompt bid so I could move forward with ordering kitchen cabinets to be installed. This job would have included getting permits, installing two dishwashers and two microwaves plus city-required upgrades of the smoke alarms.

+ 0 moreThe experience overall was very good. Allen and Josh were always punctual and professional. He willingly accepted feedback and made corrections to things we noticed. The finished product looks incredible and we are very pleased with it. Bottom line, he did what he said he was going to do, when he said he was going to do it and did it very well. The only slight downfall was the job took a little longer than expected, which left our house in disarray an extra weekend. However, if that is the tradeoff for the quality of the work they did, it was well worth it. I would definitely recommend them for this type of work.
Description of Work: They stripped down & refinished the steps, staircase and railings, replaced the spindles and built and finished a new mantle.

+ -1 moreAllen and his crew arrived punctually every morning at 7:30 a.m. (we chose the time) and didn't leave until 4:00 p.m. everyday. They were painting in our house for three weeks (huge house and tons and tons of trim). They were polite, professional and extremely accommodating to our family needs. The painting looks AMAZING! The trim is so well done and everything looks so great. They were also very clean and took great care to protect our house when they painted. Even our garage which they set up for a spray area for all the doors look like there was never painting done inside there. Our kitchen cabinets (over 20 years old) look like they are brand new. I easily saved thousands of dollars not having to replace my worn cabinets. Any errors or problems we found they immediately addressed and took care of it. We trusted them entirely in our home and would use them again without any hesitation. We're considering them for our bathroom remodeling because of how great of a job they did.
Description of Work: Allen and his crew painted the interior of our home (many rooms) and painted all the wood trim and all doors. They also installed all new hardware on each door and did a few handyman projects during the time they worked in our house. They also sprayed our kitchen cabinets, two built in bookcases and a bar area.

+ 0 moreon the built in :great job. he was always punctual. returned calls and emails immediately. he was clean and very quick with the job. love the piece he did to death. it was just as we imagined it to be. on the painting: i got a great discounted rate of 250 for the painting due to him doing the built in job. i was concerned with it because i never saw any drop clothes over the floor or my furniture, but to be fair i told him the carpet was being removed that week, and he didn't get a drop of paint on anything. he was faster than superman having it completed. my only complaint was that i specifically told him a paint brand that i wanted used and he went with something else. i didn't realize what had been used until after it was done, and again to be fair to him he did offer to go out and get the other brand and repaint, but it looked fine as it was and i declined his offer. he does great work that i would highly recommend to anyone. extremely professional and takes a lot of pride in his work, with good reason to.
Description of Work: alan did a custom designed cherry wall to wall piece that serves as our entertainment stand/book and display case. he was very patient with my sister and i, who can't picture things without drawings, and had a miliion and one questions and concerns. he personally selected great looking, quality wood for the project. he matched up the style and finish of the other wood furniture in the room. the project was completed within 2 weeks. the piece measures aprox 7.5 feet high. 146 inches across, with a 17 inch depth. it's center section was made with a set shelf for the tv. it had 2 adjustable shelves below for video equipment. the 2 side sections each had a bottom cupboard with doors. the rest of the units were made up to accomodate adjustable shelves. alan made us 14. alan also painted a bedroom for me. i don't know the measurement of the room, but it's fairly big with a 14 foot ceiling that slopes to 9 foot. 3 windows and 2 doors to trim around.

+ -1 moreAllen and crew are in demand, so plan ahead by about one-two months. Got a quote in late September and Allen said that he was scheduling about 5 weeks out then. I had also gotten a quote for some outside trim work, but I put that on hold. Allen offered the quote by room or task. I got the quote by room and the cost to change out the door hardware separately. This house had been a rental in the 1970's and 1980's, so much of the previous painting had been thick, chipped, or over wallpaper. There were drip marks and trim chips that had been bugging me for 4 years. The crew is all business - they work fast, so it's important to communicate what's important to you to do or not do. For me, it's clean lines, filling in trim and wall imperfections, cleaning up the old drips - neat and tidy. Be clear about your expectations. Allen is laid-back, so he "gets" whatever you need. Allen makes good suggestions and follows through. Always prompt and courteous with visits and phone calls.
Description of Work: Painted ceilings, walls, & trim in kitchen/laundry closet, hallways up/down, stairwell, three bedrooms, and one bathroom of my modest 1950's Cape Cod. The trim and doors were a separate color and finish from the walls and ceilings, so the trim was painted first throughout the house. The kitchen, hall, stairwell, and bath walls and ceilings were all the same color and finish. The bedrooms had color. I already had the paint for two of the bedrooms, but did not have time to do the work myself. Old door hardware (hinges and doorknobs) that had been caked with paint over the years was replaced. I think it took Allen, Josh and Joe about three full days and two half days to complete all work.

From the beginning, they arrived promptly, covered everything (they had come in at end of sawdust haven from all the remodeling) They let me know when I needed to leave the house, ahead of time, when they had to use varnish that caused strong odor. He did a sample of chocolate glaze over linen white for my final approval. Each day they cleaned up before leaving. I was impressed that they wore their respirators when dealing with fumes while doing the varnishing process. I can not stress enough how professional Allen and Allen are.
